I don’t buy the 3-4 shit for a second.

They literally just transitioned from a 3-4 to a 4-3 3 years ago and they’re going to do it again?

And that’s without even mentioning that they still have Spags.

Exactly, would make more sense to move to a nickel base than go to a 34.

Especially with the league being a predominantly passing league now.

You'd need to fist out some cash for adequate names otherwise I don't really see how you garner any pressure with the current group. It doesn't make sense to transition back to a 3-4 right now if I'm being honest. You're just adding more to the problem.

There were times where I felt spags figured something out where we were having huge success blitzing while every other defense seems to want to go zone.

But that exposed some of our weakness when we flat out cannot cover in man and it could get worse if the league chooses to emphasize defensive holding.

So I’m not sure how to feel about our scheme. I do think our late season reinforces the importance of making sure our defense does just enough to suppprt a dominant offense which we absolutely need to get back on track.

Imma be honest - coachspeak bores the hell out of me.

That's not to say he can't teach, just that this clip doesn't show it. I LOVE watching Andy go over technique with guys, especially the O-Linemen.

Any ****ing idiot can scream "GO BE GREAT!! PUNCH THE BALL!!!!" but show me a guy that can teach how. Show me someone that can demonstrate that long-arm ninja swipe thing that I've seen some DL do that messes with the timing of those feints from the OL. Show me someone that can see a guys primary move and get working with him on the right secondary and how to execute it.

At some point I just get exhausted by the 'BLOOD MAKES THE GRASS GROW, KILL KILL KILL!!!' guys. I want someone that is actually showing these guys how they can be better football players.

I hope Cullen is that guy because I'd like to see a ton of young talent added to this DL and I'd like to see them actually develop on his watch.

The one thing about Spags is he does not let team just run the football on us. Hated the last couple Sutton years.

Run defense coordinator.

Think about that for a second.

Idk if a run defense coordinator is a thing, but on the Chiefs website it clearly lists him as the “Run Game Coordinator”, the same way Kafka is listed as the “Passing Game Coordinator”.

Nice, this is a great move. Love that this organization is always going after the best position coaches they can find. Well, the best of everything they can find really.

RustShack 02-04-2022 02:47 PM

In a way when Ingram was in we ran a 3-4. Not in the traditional sense, but he stood up and behind the DL a lot. I think Spags did that to make him more comfortable, and he might be more interested in adapting adding new wrinkles this year.

Dante84 02-04-2022 02:47 PM

Okay, so this makes sense then.

House leaves, Daly is the LB backfill, Flajole stays as OLB, and Cullen to DL.

Sure-Oz 02-04-2022 02:56 PM

@barleyhop: Interesting. Daly's not coached LB's before, but they keep some continuity on the staff after House leaves.

Cullen is a helluva hire. Excited to have him in the building. https://twitter.com/Chiefs/status/1489700190823014401

I am shocked that Fangio have not been picked up quickly

RunKC 02-04-2022 04:07 PM

I like it. They might be losing both OC’s this offseason. No need to create too much change there.

I like Culley as well. If EB leaves I hope Nagy comes back
