Oof well that is indeed a lot more than 400K. But 2m on top of 7.4m is still a HUGE carrot on a stick. The HR derby is 1 night, and he can make orders of magnitude more on that 1 night than he can in 1 night of regular or postseason Mets baseball. My mistake was comparing HR money to full season money when the real comparison should be this 1 night at the plate vs any other 1 night at the plate.

Ultimately the idea is there is so much money on the line, all participants should be going full-on full-blown try-hard. Except I guess that age fraud Pujols who made himself a hero in the midwest and a vampiric villain in Anaheim, to the tune of 250 million horribly spent dollars.

who cares about a player shaves off a couple of years on the resume? So the team pays that much more for two years younger? The print more money Angels?

Pujols was an established star. The Angels knew what they were getting. **** the Angels anyway. We never get to see one of the best players of this generation play on TV or in the playoffs because their front office is incompetent.

We fans got to see the best 11 year run a player has ever had. Better than Ruth, Mantle, Griffey etc. we started to see the aging taking hold. Everyone did. He still was one of the top players of the current game but no longer HOF level of play.

One of the best players of this generation? Man, Aaron Judge or Yordan Alvarez is "one of" the best players "of this generation".

Mike Trout is THE best player of ALL generations ever.

Get that right and then we can talk about a guy that everyone knew even in his amateur days was way older than he claimed. There is a scene in the movie 'Benchwarmers' that directly clowns on Pujols himself. Pujols should definitely be a first ballot HOFer if you mean Hall of Frauds.

But we can never discuss Pujols if you have that much disrespect and vitriol in you about Trout.

National League uniforms look outstanding.
American League uniforms look like ass.

ChiefsCountry 07-19-2022 06:36 PM

Damn that was one sweet double play

ChiefsCountry 07-19-2022 06:37 PM

Goldy with a homer for the Senior Circuit

KC_Connection 07-19-2022 06:45 PM

Kirk should have been batting higher in the order.

This game has rapidly become irrelevant.

I used to LOVE watching the All-Star game but the TV presentation has basically killed my interest in it.

It's not saying much, but it's much more watchable than the all-star games in the NBA and NFL.

The NL-AL league pride aspect has been killed off by interleague play, and there's way too many substitutions. Too many stiffs, too.

Tony Gwynn, a starter, was still playing and scored the game-winning run in extras in the 1994 All-Star Game. That was probably the last great one that was an unforgettable classic.

This game used to have moments (Pete Rose running over Ray Fosse, Reggie Jackson hitting the transformer at Tiger Stadium, Dave Parker's outfield assists in 1979, Fred Lynn's grand slam) but the game lacks a defining moment in the last 25 years.

and hockey too.

The All-Star baseball game isn’t that great but you do have pitchers trying their best to strike out the best hitters in the game.
