Dude, thats not even close to the truth.:shake:

You cant shortcut this. By the time you see blood or experience any pain, its too late, you could already be dead. It's just a question of how long you have left.

It was nothing...the prep was no big deal (pill and a bottle of gatorade?). The procedure itself was nothing. You count to 10 (but only make it to 5), and you wake up what feels like 2 minutes later, and you have proof that you have no polyps or irregularities. Do NOT be fooled into thinking COlo-guard is an acceptable substitute.

I've changed my diet and lost 25lbs in the last 6 months, but I still have issues. Feels like I have a knot in my lower abdomen..

Do you take psyllium? I had a colonoscopy 8 years ago and had diverticulosis and started taking psyllium. My colonoscopy a year ago was 100% clear with no polyps and no diverticulosis. It also lowers your cholesterol which is a nice bonus.

Alright I am 52 and had mine last week. The prep was exciting, fountains of shit for 24 hours followed by liquid diet for day and a half before. All in all not fun, but not that bad.

I am pretty healthy but they found and removed 3 polyps. They were all benign, but they were the type that if were left alone, frequently develop into cancer after another 5 years or so. I am good to go, and thankful for modern science.

So this is a public service announcement, go get your colonoscopy as soon as recommended. Colon cancer is highly preventable if you get the anal probing.

what has amazed me with these threads, is the number of different ways doctors do clean outs

Mine was gatorade and miralax

Others needed the magic cocktail

then one had a pill and gatorade

Why all of the differences?

All I know is I’ve had 5, and the highlight is when you wake up and they slip you a ham and cheese sandwich, then your guts start waking up and all this air they blew up your asshole so they can look around needs to start working its way out. Fart city for about an hour, and the nurse is saying that that’s just fine, everyone else does it but my wife doesn’t seem to care about everyone else.

Don’t matter about the results, I just want to get home.

I am actually having it done tomorrow morning. Started Suprep to clean me out a few hours ago. Better than chugging a gallon of GoLytely. God that shit is awful. It'll be worth it tomorrow morning when they hook that IV up and give me those awesome drugs. I always wake up feeling refreshed as if I had the best nights sleep.

On the first one I woke up groggy and a little incoherent.

My wife was there and told me "They said you can't go home until you fart"
I said confidently, " I can do that!"
I was right.

I asked the same question earlier in the thread. Basically - my dad, my brother, & myself each had a colonoscopy within 18 months of each other and each one of our preps was different. Each doctor that ordered it was different, but all at the same clinic.

You would think that there would be a standard "Do these steps" but it seems like it changes based on how the doctor is feeling that day.

I assume that if he thinks that you are an asshole, he will prescribe the worst possible prep.

My doctor must hate me.

I know this may come as a shock to many, but it mostly has to do with your insurance.

Had mine on Tuesday. 4 dulcolax followed by 1/2 bottle of miralax in a quart of gatorade then another quart of gatorade and the other 1/2 of the miralax 6 hours later. It definitely cleaned me out. They removed 3 polyps so I got to go back in 3 years instead of 5. Every Doc has their own preference. Spouse had hers the week before. That routine didn't do a very good job cleaning her out (had done at same place) but they "powerflushed", her doc's words, her and didn't find anything. She has a few medical issues and the doc reccommended she do the Cologuard test instead of a full scope and reserve the scope for when/if the Cologuard test shows something.

This is exactly what mine was.

Nice, my comment was "oh, is that all I need to do?"

We went home immediately. :D
