At the end...if they do not sign FAs. Trade locks that in.

I would guess that Cousins is getting paid pretty well. Would the Jets have to trade someone that’s making near the same money to stay under the cap?

They'd have to sign him to a new deal to change his money.

The entire purpose of trading Cousins now is to take advantage of an 0-3 start and tank for a QB.

If you can turn being 0-3 into drafting Caleb Williams when you have Jefferson and Addison that is a gigantic win.

No part of this makes any sense, Claynus just saw some BS and fell for it

The only reason I could see them not trading Cousins away is because it might affect Jefferson and his contract negotiations moving forward.

I doubt he would give a **** if they are going to make him the highest paid WR which is what they'll have to do...

Matter of fact moving to a rookie QB deal makes him getting paid easier.

$10 million base salary; the rest of his money was/is in bonuses that are going to accelerate to the Vikings cap (much of it has already been paid and is stuck into void years)

I think there are ways to get this done that the Jets can squeeze under the cap. Especially if Wilson goes the other way in the deal.

If this were to happen Peyton Manning needs to make the immediate call to add Cousins to Season 2 of Netflix Quarterback.

They would probably pay Brady $50 million to come play for 14 games. They are a dumpster fire since 1969

Sassy Squatch 09-25-2023 11:13 AM

Regardless of if they trade Cousins or not they're going to have to purposefully tank to outmaneuver teams like the Bears and Broncos. Those rosters are significantly worse than the Vikings even sans Cousins.

Agreed, they would need to make it a fire sale. In fact they have the Panthers next week so they probably better also trade or cut any/all back-up QBs on the team.

Jets OL is not good. Brady is smart enough to stay away from that situation.
