No, but if he's going to be a DC, he'll just stay in AZ.

Could be. I know Clark wants long-term stability in the coach and GM.

Reid is absolutely going to be here 5 years without a doubt in my mind. GM will too.

Didn't know with the new HC if he would stay or not.

Norvelle doesn't fit Andy's offensive philosophies.

It's gonna be an OC from a WCO background like Reid. Turner is a Coryell disciple.

Norv Turner has never run the WCO. He runs the Coryell/Zampese offense.

-King- 01-08-2013 08:36 PM

I could live with Petine. He had no pass rushers in NY and still brought a lot of pressure (Not so much this past season though). Would like to see him with Hali and Houston.

Mother****erJones 01-08-2013 08:37 PM

Ya i know but he was successful with Dallas and can do some good things when Rivers isnt a reerun

O.city 01-08-2013 08:37 PM

He doesn't fit well with Reid, doesn't matter

And Pettine is very intriguing if he were to come here.

Doesn't matter, Dude. Andy Reid isn't going to hire someone that has a different offensive philosophy than Bill Walsh's WCO.

Furthermore, Reid plan to call the plays.

If Rex Ryan is still the HC in NY, why wouldn't he keep Pettine? Why would Pettine make a lateral move to another team?

Did Rex fire him? Maybe I missed something here.

I suppose that's why there's so much backchatter about Doug Pederson becoming the OC in spite of his coaching inexperience.

You can run different variations of it and customize it the way you want. Some coaches emphasize the run more and short to immediate passes (Jon Gruden). Some emphasize the pass more (Reid) with a little more down the field. The point is though that the terminology is mostly the same in all forms of the WCO. It has evolved over the years.

That's what I've seen reported in multiple places. The OC would coordinate (much like he did with Chilly & Morninwig) and Reid would call the offense.

I'd be surprised if he turned over the play calling but hey, whatever. Reid has a long leash, IMO.

I don't care about the OC as much as the DC. Reid can handle the offense, he needs someone who can be trusted with a defense.

Mother****erJones 01-08-2013 08:45 PM

I actually don't mind this too much. We could have done a lot worse than Thomas and Gibbs.

It could have been one of our offensive coaches.

I won't be surprised if all three find a spot on the coaching staff.

I'd venture to guess that Chilly will be the OC, with either Pederson and Shurmur as the QB coach. Shurmur used to coach WR's back in the day, but he may be offered an OC gig elsewhere.

I wonder if we'll stick with the 3-4 or go with the 4-3? I bet Reid and Dorsey (assuming he's the guy) will sit down and look at the players on tape before deciding obviously.

The Titans game in 2010 is the best example of us using Charles in the passing game.

He caught 2 TD's that day. One was a screen.

Posturing when Reid says that GM will make the decision on personnel, or Andy being legit?

The best part about this signing is that Dorsey has been scouting players all year long. He's already got a ton of work done and he's trustworthy.

dorsey was there when they drafted rogers...in the first...with a hall of fame QB on your team

I would think that if Reid and Dorsey are close and share a basic approach to football, that collaboration would work just fine. Reid will probably defer to Dorsey's judgment for most of the process relating to scouting for the draft...and Reid might interject more when it comes to free agents, guys he knows, etc.

I think it would work beautifully.

That was pretty much a no-brainer.

That was more the perfect storm than anything. Now if they had the #1 pick and still had Favre, and took Rodgers, that's stones.

Bullshit. Not one single QB improved under Flacco. Not one. In fact, Cassel Absolutely regressed, and Stanzi seemed to also. Talent has nothing to do with it. Even if a guy sucks, you can still make him better, even if it's only incrementally.

Based on Wally's interviews, it sounds as though he expects the GM (whomever it may be) to dedicate their full-time effort to the task of evaluating players. He, on the other hand, while maintaining an interest in the subject, is too busy with coaching duties to properly assess potential talent. So, when it comes time to decide upon needs and possible fits, the two would collaborate while leaving the "final" decision up to the GM (and, by extension, Clark) based upon the economics. It's pretty clear that's the sort of structure and expectation he has in mind.
