Butler's top 10 in Royals history for hits, doubles, HRs, RBI, etc. He played on a World Series team. I think he's got a shot eventually.
Funny thing is he hasn't played baseball in 5 years and he's still younger than our current 1B. I think that seems to hurt his image a bit. But if you look solely at his overall numbers in Royals history he's up there. Beltran has the name value. He's certainly one of the most talented players in team history and he put up big numbers over several years. He's still in the top 10 for WAR in Royals history. Where Damon really didn't click until his last couple years in KC, and he went on to win titles in his prime with other teams. |
If Hiram doesn't make it, I'm out.

other than Ventura, I wouldn't put any of them in.
Damon and Beltran were great elsewhere, after leaving because we couldn't pay them. Why do we want to enshrine that? none of the rest of those guys were exceptional players. |

On a separate note, when confirming how long Damon was with the Royals, noticed he recently got a DUI with a BAC higher than his career batting average. |

Holy shit Kyle Davies. Didn't he hold like a pretty major record for shittiness or close to a record. Only person I for sure would put in is Ventura and maybe Billy Butler. If he just stays 1 year longer, then he for sure gets to be on it.
|
Ace- In for sure.
Hochevar- Love his redemption story in going from a bust to a solid, if not dominant, part of that great championship run bullpen. But probably had to short of a good run to be HOF material. But I wouldn’t hate it if he got in. Breakfast- Was the only Royal who looked like he belonged in the major leagues for a few years there (not physically. Lol). But ultimately only did one thing well and not for a lengthy enough period of time. Guthrie- If there was a section for awesome teammate/cheerleader/great post season pressers, he would walk in. Davies- bahahahahaha Beltran/Damon- WTF? |
Quote:
So that will ultimately mean Butler is getting in and probably this year Hochevar and Guthrie won’t make it on first try but it’s conceivable they get in at some point. If Guthrie had won Game 7, he’d be a lock. Ventura is getting in, lack of longevity aside. Beltran is going to make it. Maybe not this year but won’t be surprising if that is so. He’s definitely in before Damon Damon has a chance someday to make it but not before or at same time as Beltran Davies - wow. No My Ballot Ventura - yes Butler - yes Beltran - on the fence, hard pass Hochevar - not yet Guthrie - not yet Damon - not yet Davies - not even close |
If anyone could get into the HOF for a single postseason performance alone, it’s Hoch. He had what, 10.2 innings and zero earned runs? Might not have won G2 of the ALCS and G4 and G5 of the WS without him. Dude was just utter nails.
|
Maybe my WTF for Beltran was a bit harsh. He was pretty damn good for KC. But still, no one outside of us remembers him as a Royal and he was here so long ago, just still would seem weird to throw him in the HOF.

Hochevar also had a tremendous 2013 season - if not for TJ surgery, he’s in the pen for 2014 (but also that would have meant Wade’s transition from starter to reliever is either delayed substantially or might not have even occurred at all) Still if hindsight is 20-20 and Hochevar is not hurt at all and Royals still put Wade in pen regardless, boy what I would give to get us back to G4 WS with 4-1 lead T4, PH for Vargas and just let it ride with Luke and then onto HDH for 18 outs and get a stranglehold on that series and close them out in 6 at the K.... |
I know people still talk about sending Gordon home in the 9th inning of game 7 in 2014, but the thing I always bring up is wishing that Ned had only let Guthrie go the first 3 innings & then turned it over to HDH to pitch from there on out in game 7 of the 2014 WS.
The game would have been tied at 2 going into the 10th inning. MadBum vs the Royals bullpen. |
WTF would anyone vote for Ventura?
He played two seasons. Yeah he died. And? |

Is Joe Delaney in the Chiefs Ring of Honor? Unsure if he is or not, but similar thought process there, I think. |

So perplexing why they put him on the list. It's almost like they don't like him and they are trolling him. He was one of the Royal's worst starting pitchers ever in the last 10 years. |

Beltran and Damon were the only reason to watch the Royals in the late 90s early 2000s.
So yes. |
This is just my opinion of course but there's no way I'd put Beltran in the Royals HOF due to his blatant cheating in Houston.
He does not belong in the same breath as George Brett, Paul Splittorff, Fred Patek and all of the Royals greats from the past. |

No, **** Dan Glass. Beltran was willing to do an extension and then Glass threw a fit when Beltran’s agent requested $1M more/season. |
Mike Minor & Bobby Witt Jr had good games today.

They need to find a spot for Witt Jr...its time
|
Quote:
He's close and might actually be up this season... but the guy hasn't even played full season minor league ball yet. They need to test him in the minors a bit first. Starting him at AA would be an aggressive move, but I could see it based on his performances at major league camp last year and this spring. |
I don't want to put anybody in from the shitty years when we had to let everyone good go because we couldn't afford them.
None of these guys were great Royals. Ventura I put in because he died young. The rest of them? Nope. You don't get claimed here when you went and took the big money elsewhere. If you won a WS here, then we can talk about it. |

3 observations from the game today.
1. Padres announcers have to be the two biggest annoying goons I have ever heard in my life, my God, you talk about a couple of drips, dorks, saps. next time they are on I am muting the sound. 2. Carlos Hernandez was filthy, he is not far away from being a dominant bullpen guy, 98-100 with a filthy breaking ball he was unhitable except the mistake to Hosmer which the ball was placed belt high and away which is the only place he can drive a ball, that was major league closer stuff. I wish the game would have been on tv yesterday, it sounds like Austin cox and Johnathan Bowlan were nasty as well both striking out the side. So far the guys not named Lynch, Kowar and Bubic are the ones who are shining bright. 3. the hitting looks the same as the last 3 years, they cannot hit with men on base or in scoring position, bases loaded no outs, don't score, base loaded 1 out, don't score, 2 on no outs don't score, runner at second no outs don't score, 9 guys stranded through 5 innings, same old shit. Taylor has been impressive so far, that would be huge for the bottom of the lineup if he can swing the bat the way he is and play premium defense. |
Trying to get to a game is proving to be impossible. It already nearly was before Covid. No bueno now. 20% max capacity.
