Nantz has his Husky vs. Husky history down. I hope we get a 3rd crack at them.

Mizzou wasn't even in the running for a 2 seed, they were the 4th 3 seed.

MU should have an easy road to the Sweet Sixteen. Memphis will be a bear though....

I don't like that WV matchup for Kansas...don't like it at all. They are very good.

My man Seth. Tell em how it is.

****, both guys picked us to advance to the Final Four. That's oddly uncomfortable.

Kansas -- I like it... if they get to the SS, I think they could beat MSU. Just don't lose to North Dakota State, m-kay? Seth Davis just called WVU a sleeper team, so that means they'll lose in the first round. He's a f***ing moron.

Lookin forward to NIT-ology at 8pm!

When Seth said UConn and Memphis didn't have any competition in their bracket, I breathed a sigh of relief. |
I don't understand how some of you MU fans are calling it an easy road to the SS. And some of you are over-looking Marquette. Even without James they're a pretty solid team. Act like you've been there guys. ;) oh, and as a KU fan - GO DAYTON FLYERS!! That possible 2nd rd matchup with WVU worries me - a lot.

It is kind of cool how both Mizzou and Kansas could play a Big East team in the second round... there have always been a lot of Big 12 fans who don't like the Big East and ACC, so it could be a rude awakening if the fifth and seventh teams in the BE beat the first and third teams in the B12. |
I am not saying Marquette is going to beat MU, but some of these guys need to get realistic. Marquette is gonna be tough, as is WVU for us.

I'm tired of Mid Majors getting squat ****ed.

Meritocracy?
LMAO LMAO Vitale is going ape shit. |
Here we go with the good stuff. Dick Vitale defending the mid-majors and Jay Bilas acting like we shouldn't have any mid-majors at all.

There's a strong argument that the mountain west deserved 3 teams....over teams like: Arizona Michigan |

I can't understand how Arizona could get in over San Diego State... not that this hasn't been covered. their RPI and SOS were both like 30 places better, were they not

And Arizona beat no one on the road... |
I usually defend the mid-majors, but I'm fair. I was the one pimping the Mo. Valley a few years ago when they were really good, the KU fans laughed me out of the building for saying Bradley could beat them. But to be fair, I don't think we have anything like that this year. Nobody is that good.
But I think Vitale has a good argument that the more we bring in these power teams it rewards teams that win 18-19 games and are really mediocre. That's not any fun to watch in the first round. It's more fun to watch a Davidson go up against Syracuse or somebody. |

It's not just a mid-major thing, though. Looking at all of the 5 or 6 seeds and above, I see almost NOBODY capable of a sustained run. WVU is good for a few games, maybe, and I could definitely see a few mid-low seeds pulling upsets in the first round, but looking at a bracket, almost NOBODY outside of the top 4 seeds looks like a real threat.
|
Well, I think Vitale is certainly making more sense than anyone else in this argument.

I actually saw NDSU play when ESPN was showing their WTF conference tourneys. If we lose to them, I will be furious. But WV is very VERY good, and unfortunately Thuggins can coach. Then if we happen to win that one we get Michigan State  |

I guess the argument is the RPI....and the "mediocre conference record" argument another poster made.... Do you reward a mediocre season (.500 or worse) in a major conference over a good season in a mid-major, or sub-major if you will, conference? Tough call. I just dont like the East Coast Sports Network's slurping of east coast teams....and Arizona (they have always had a man-crush for Lute Olson). |

The only argument against Arizona is their big wins (KU, Gonzaga) came at home. You'd rarely ever get Kansas to go play at St. Mary's. Gonzaga had to go to St. Mary's since they're in the same conference... and they only won by 2 points... and Patty Mills was out.
Arizona played 2 non-conference games on the road, that's it. And they lost them both, including a 15 point loss at UNLV. |
So, ranking 2009 meltdowns so far:
1. Vitale responds to the omission of Mid Majors 2. 'Hamas' hears about the Cassel trade 3. The Economy |

Get past NDS and WVU though, and I think they would have a decent shot against MSU, BC, or USC. B10 teams do okay in the tourney because of their defense and their sluggish pace, but it's to Kansas' advantage that they played @MSU earlier in the season. That's as far as I could see them going, and that's asking a lot. Digger talking Kansas.... saying they're now a very dangerous team in that region because of their recent losses. F*** you, Jay Bilas. |

Sure, this KU team has been inconsistent this year. Youth will do that, I ues. But I just don't see that kind of thing happening again to a Self coached team. I could be wrong. Has happened before. :) |
