This thread just blows my mind. The content in the OP is far more important than what has just went on. Children were ****ing abused and the people are not in jail, no justice is being served here.

I've been on a date with my wife tonight. Don't know what happened here but I support the actions of the mod team. Let me also say that mods are always going to err on the side of solid community contributors here - people who are decent human beings and treat others with respect. So, if you're a dick and a troll here don't be shocked and dismayed when mods are "picking on you".
|
Yeah ... I'm a tad unclear on the rules. Mr. Hootie gets banned, yet R8ers (or whatever his name is) gets to stick around.
I smell something and it don't remind me of fairness. FAX |

Why did Hootie get banned some months back? What was the exact transgression? Also, what did R8ers just do to get banned?

And as far as I know, R8ers is not banned. |

Matt Millen breaking down on ESPN right now. Damn, that was hard to watch. He was visibly shaken there for a moment.

I don't know how JoePa isn't being charged with perjury like the other two guys. I can only assume that he didn't testify to the "Mike McQueary didn't tell me he saw Sandusky actually having sex with a boy" story he told in his public statement, and that's why he's not being charged.
But that would mean he said one thing to the grand jury and is saying something else in public. Which would be so monumentally stupid that it would defy all logic. And it'll force the DA to expose him as a liar if they plan on bringing the perjury charges against the other two. |
Quote:
Defiantly McQueary, & the janitor. They both watched a child be raped & did nothing. That is a felony in all 50 states. |

It is sad that this will tarnish his image, but there are certain acts or in this case lack of action that tend to taint the perception people have of you more than others. Perpetuating the access of a molester to kids on the campus where no one farts without your permission is one of those acts. |

When I lived in Houston Kailee Wong (former Texans player) was on the morning radio, doing a show. He said that a Penn State guy he played with told him Joe Paterno used to shower with the players. This was like 5 years ago. Back then they talked about it like was a goof. Like a weird old man story or something. But it's strange now that all this stuff comes out.
Not that I think Paterno was doing anything sexual; just that it makes it seem somehow more odd now than then. |

The possible implications are mind boggling. Not sayin this happened. |
A couple years ago my college roommate and I were watching SportsCenter and they were showing the highlights of a Penn State game and the camera showed Joe Paterno and he said, "dude, doesn't Paterno look like a child molester?" We laughed. Creepy now though. He called me when this story broke and yeah. Creepy.

Exclusive: Victims Double In Penn State Case
Updated: Tuesday, 08 Nov 2011, 6:50 PM EST Published : Tuesday, 08 Nov 2011, 5:17 PM EST UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Fox 29 has learned the number of child-abuse in the Penn State sex-abuse scandal involving ex-coach Jerry Sandusky has more than doubled in the past day, and is closer to 20 victims. Slideshows: Rally At JoePa's Home | Coach Mobbed By Reporters There were eight victims named in the grand jury presentment and 40 charges leveled against Sandusky, a long-time assistant to Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno. Paterno was not named in the grand jury finding as violating any laws. Sources tell Fox 29 since a press conference on Monday, the number of potential victims has more than doubled in the case. Sandusky was arrested in the case and made bail, while two Penn State administrators face charges related to how an alleged crime was reported in the case to police and investigators. On Monday, state officials publicized two phone numbers for past victims to call, and within a day, it seems investigators have new leads. Also on Monday, Pennsylvania state attorney general Linda Kelly said the Sandusky case was consideried an on-going investigation and more charges could be coming. Sandusky is charged with sexually abusing at least eight young boys he met through The Second Mile, a charity he founded in the late 1970s. A preliminary hearing set for Wednesday was postponed until December 7th. On Monday, Joe Paterno spoke briefly with reporters. “I know you guys have a lot of questions and I was hoping I was going to be able to answer them today,” Paterno said outside his State College house. “But we’ll try to do it soon, as soon as we can. I can’t do it today.” Joe Paterno's son told Fox 29 earlier that a New York Times report his father is leaving as Penn State's football coach isn't true. Scott Paterno spoke with Fox 29 one hour after Penn State officials cancelled a scheduled press conference with Joe Paterno. The New York Times reported after the cancelled conference that two sources told it that Penn State officials were negotiating Paterno's exit as football coach, perhaps within days, in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky sex scandal. Scott Paterno called that report "fiction." “There are no negotiations between us,” Scott Paterno said. “The New York Times report, you got to get the sources from them. ... The university has not in anyway shape or form indicated or contacted us about any type of retirement agreement, that is all fiction at this point." “As of now, he’ll be coaching on Saturday and he’s getting ready for practice.” Scott Paterno said father could be meeting with the press in the next day. "The press conference was called off by the university, we are looking to arrange for another press availability at some point in the next 24 hours. When we have that arranged we will let everyone know." “The coach did in fact want to answer questions about it and he will,” Paterno said. “I can’t speak to what’s being discussed elsewhere but I can tell you at this point in time, there has been no discussions with the coach about retiring, there have been no discussions with the coach about stepping down, and as far as he’s concerned, he will be coaching the team on Saturday, and he’s looking forward to it.” Scott Paterno also said he was speaking for the Paterno family, and not the university. The school said in statement that it cancelled Paterno's weekly press conference due to the ongoing investigation into sex-abuse claims by former coach Sandusky. "Due to the ongoing legal circumstances centered around the recent allegations and charges, we have determined that |

He articulated (sorta) the problem.
An extraordinarily long and illustrious career as a great coach and role model exposed as a child molester's enabler. It's unthinkable, really. But this is how Paterno is going to be remembered, I'm afraid. FAX |

His hole career & legacy destroyed. & he has no one to blame but himself. I feel know mercy for Joe. & I was a big fan of his till this story broke. I am ashamed I defended this guy for the last 10 years. When others said he had to go, the game has past him by. I said they were wrong :doh!: |
Looking back, the fact that JoePa had enough of a defective character to refuse to retire while he still had his dignity makes his behavior with this stuff a lot less surprising. Dude is a narcissist megalomaniac.

I don't think he's a narcissist. I think he has too much pride in his school. He's so concerned about protecting the reputation of the school that he's willing to let something like this slide. It's a shame--he's done so many good things for the program and for college football, and all of that is thrown away because he made one ENORMOUS lapse in judgment. His legacy is tainted, as it should be. |

The more I hear about this the more I get pissed off at the shear amount of stupidity/arrogance involved here. JoePa is looking worse and worse in all of this with his stupid comments and there arent enough shrinks in the world for all the Penn State/JoePa apologists out there.
|
My son is 10. This stuff makes me sick. I also know, after thinking about the way these boys were treated, that I am capable of taking a human life. The more I read about this, the more it sickens me. So far 20 (?) young men have come forward? I bet that GA has been thinking about it every day, knowing that he could've done more.
You still have to wonder. What did Joe know and when? |
I cannot see how they allow JoePope and McQueery on the field on Saturday. As if their continued presence in the Penn State program was not a slap in the face enough when the victims knew of their involvement (or lack their of) in suffering silence. But now it's in the open and they are openly telling the victims their suffering is secondary to football. It's really surreal.
|
My question is this: why is this going down at Penn State? Who do they think they are, Notre Dame??
