It's official I won't pay another dollar towards this franchsie for a while if Matt is brought back.

Oh Matt Cassel is a good QB, you had to watch a bad one the last 4 weeks, so now you will appreciate Matt. :banghead:

There is no way this team cannot draft a QB.

I would say Haley.

Did you see the NFL.com video? The majority of it is with Haley screaming at players, or showing a scowl.

Someone should have had the stones to ask Pioli why Palko is on the roster.

or Barry Richardson.

or Anthony frigging Becht.

Cassel was on the sideline on Sunday. Was surprised to see him since he had not made the trip to New England.

Chiefnj2 12-12-2011 02:41 PM

Blah, blah, blah. Every reporter claims they know what Pioli is going to do, and none of them are ever correct. How many of these guys who are now suddenly hearing X, Y, Z broke the story about Haley being fired before it was announced by the team?

IMO, last weeks "leak" to the press was in anticipation of this happening and finding out who had loose lips.

OnTheWarpath15 12-12-2011 02:44 PM

Expect that Matt Cassel will be the only viable QB in the roster next year.

Expect that Scott Pioli will continue to do business the way he's always done it.

And expect Clark Hunt to allow it all to happen.

Man the lifeboats.

Cassel is the problem. What you cassel fans are forgetting is he wasn't very effective in the games he played either. Fine I'll throw you a bone bring him back but can we get a real QB if he fails once again?

OnTheWarpath15 12-12-2011 02:49 PM

The one consensus is that Pioli will not move on from Cassel.

Crennel as HC and McD as OC?

The bigger problem is that Jackson was picked at all. I get what you're saying, though. Once that pick was made, pouting & whining didn't help.

If we had a legit QB I would have no problem with that. Riley Rieff would make a great right tackle in the NFL. And going into year 4, this would be the expected type of pick.

suzzer99 12-12-2011 03:00 PM

All the more reason to believe that, despite the fact it needed to be done, firing Todd Haley doesn't move this franchise forward AT ALL.

Weis not believing in Cassel confirms my thoughts last year while watching the games when it was obvious that Cassel was being babied by the play calling. Haley's thought process may have been that we have to see what we have in him otherwise he himself would be let go.

Given all the turmoil the team has went through this season I'm more mad at Pioli than Haley. There was never any reason to give that huge contract that early to Cassel. They could have done more to strengthen the offensive line also. signing Lilja was a mistake, letting Brian waters go was a mistake. The cupboards are bare besides some of the guys that were left behind from Herm era. Not to mention all the injuries.

I would have liked to see Haley call the offense permanently and develop a QB.

OnTheWarpath15 12-12-2011 03:17 PM

Silver: No idea why Clark Hunt isn't more aggressive in acquiring talent. Must assume he likes sitting on tens of millions of dollars after stadium renovations.

LOCOChief 12-12-2011 03:19 PM

I think our best hope at getting a qb in the draft early is for Hunt to step in and make a business decision.

Not likely but possible.

And the one 2009 decision we all thought was the worst at the time has turned out to probably be the best.
