Not really. ME1 and 2 I believe are both just 20 bucks brand new these days. If youre a fan of action RPG's, its tough to go wrong with Mass Effect for 20 bucks. Theyre a bit on the linear side, not a lot of free roaming to do, but the combat and the character types/abilities are pretty awesome. Not to mention a pretty damn good story. Plus, its a lot cooler to live through the events and make your choices, seeing firsthand the results of your choices. Taking that dumb quiz in the beginning of 2 (and 3 I guess) and just answering how you wouldve handled those instances will never compare. Ive been waiting to see how this story ends for a long damn time. Less than a week now. |
damn, maybe I'll have to make time for the first 2.
I blame Call of ****ing Doody for me missing out on great games, I never could put that game down and that was my only gaming time. I missed out on so many gems over that game. I'm completely finished with COD now, it's dead to me so I won't be missing any more games like that. Hell, if MW3 didn't suck so much ass I woulda missed out on this gem that this thread is about. |

just finished the main story line, the ending was super lame and easy.

level 10 blacksmith does give you extra bonuses to the item you make for free though. purple isn't necessarily stronger than blue |

I havent played for some time, but at level 31 and using the best components I could find, complete with appropriate gem type (and best caliber gem) everything I ever made was still rated in blue. I dont think anything ever smithed will be purple. As I understand it, purple items are graded as "Unique", as in "You wont find another one." Smithed items can repeatedly be churned out, so they arent unique. Ive also had several blue items that were the same level as some purple items, but the blue one had several advantages over the purple item. I think its just a distinction of rareness, not necessarily the best, ala WoW. |

I'm already building a poison based character and hope all the damage/duration increases i have on my equipment for poison will increase the teleport poison damage as well. :) |
This game is ****ing awesome just for the simple fact that 24 hours into the game.....you can totally switch up your character if you don't like how it's playing out. Shit....you can switch it out at every level up if you want to.

btw to hell with sceptres ... was using them for range attack and pulling mobs. Thought since i was magic user that it was the thing to do.
Bow > Sceptre more slots when you make bows so you get to add more damage ... easier to create reckoning(purple stuff) bonus with simple power attack. Also sneak+volley=easy mob control plus bleed and poison work great with bow |
Sceptres have to be the worst weapon in the game. They're ****ing worthless.

Not sure if serious. |
Just switched over to Mage/rogue combo. Made a badass set of fae blades that do more damage than my sword, only much faster. I love this aspect of the game.

i'm more of a rogue now who uses magic to supplement his damage. A bow is just so much more functional. It has better range, more useful attacks. Very unusual for me because i'm pretty much always a pure mage in any game i play. |

I didn't see a screen shot button option in Amalur or i would of posted pictures of my gear to see how they compare. I leveling up pretty slow though so i'm not to uber high damage stuff that comes later. |
Having screenshots would make this game too awesome to contain in time.

Been playing this pretty much all day - I'm up to level 21 now and finally got master level in blacksmithing. Armor rating is around 500 now.
Mass Effect 3 will have to wait until I'm done with this. Another thing - earlier, somebody was commenting on the benefits of increased stun duration. You can craft an epic gem (apparently for your main piece of armor only) that causes anything that physically attacks you to get stunned 60% of the time. That and any item that extends the stun is a kickass combination. I just created trollskin rogue armor with that gem. |
if you are going for 1000/1000, one of the 100 points secret achievements is
Spoiler!

I have a scepter that hits at around 246 or so damage with frequent stuns. It also has a buff on there that makes all my spells cost -20% mana.
If i felt like it I could probably smoke most encounters using nothing but the scepter and never have any enemy get close to hitting me because they get stunned so often. |

Up to level 25 now. Looks like I'll have to rework my character temporarily so I can effectively use a hammer for a specific quest. I love this game!

Better way to level up ... finishing quests or just running around killing shit?
what quest(s) unlocks the stuff across the ocean? |

This game is way too easy, even on hard. |

After a while, grinding becomes, well...grinding. Monsters in areas you've cleared previously are worth next to nothing... |

A couple of things I figured out.
Initially, I saved the fate power for larger opponents. This was a mistake, and I have probably cost myself a couple of advancement levels by just sitting on the ability to increase points and waiting for larger opponents like trolls to come along. If you have it, use it. I ran into a couple of trainers I couldn't utilize, either because I was maxed out in their particular skill or didn't have enough points. So when I did my last fate weave, I put equal points in everything. Was able to utilize all the trainers I couldn't before. After playing using primarily the fae blades, using a hammer sucks. I'll go back to my old skill set as soon as I'm done. |

I found out about using the Reckoning mode too. Unless i'm going down a tunnel where i know a mini boss fight is coming i just use it as soon as the purple bar gets full and i reach a group of monsters. |
Quote:
If I know I have a couple of Threshes coming and I only need to "waste" a half dozen boggarts ahead of time, I'll save it. Otherwise, I'm using it on a group of 4 or more. |
w00t ... Warlock destiny!!
time to see if the poison blink stuff does any real damage. :D |
heh ... just killed a Bandshaen(spawning worm) and company with just my poison blink attack. LMAO
If i ever run into a poison immune mob i'm dead until then i am one venomous, badass mofo. |

ok, I'm finished with the game! It was very good but I never really got into the story. I don't think I'm gonna chase the last few achievements, however.

This thread is dying. Has everybody finished the game?
I had to ****ing start over - my save file got corrupted somehow. |
I'm almost to level 31 now. I'm starting to think this is bigger than any of the Elder Scrolls games. As much as I've played, I look at the map and there are still several areas I haven't even set foot in yet.
Funny, I recently dropped a small fortune on a new computer, and one my primary reasons for the upgrade was to be able to play Mass Effect 3 without any issues. Hard to believe that on the day it finally came out, I was playing another game until 1:30 in the morning. :D BTW, is there another level of base armor/weapon components beyond Sylvanite/Trollskin/Hexweave, or is that it? |

first time back on Skryim since starting KoA. Gotta say, my appreciation for Skyrim went way up.

I really think I'm enjoying this game more than Skyrim. This game has many similar features, but seems to be much more streamlined and far less tedious. Everything you pick up in this game is, or at least can be, useful at some level, for example. No knives, forks, cup, plates, etc. Just one example.
Part of this is certainly my new computer, which I should have got six months ago. Skyrim just kicked the shit out of my old 4GB RAM 32-bit system. I had a thousand crashes/dumps and finally had to resort to playing the game at the lowest graphics level, which pissed me off to no end. Can't fault the game for that, but it obviously sucked some of the joy out of the whole experience. |

Holy ****ing random loot drops Batman!
I thought that Skill book locations were fixed. There's a +1 Sagecrafting book that appears early in the game and it appears in the same location each and every time. I was in the Coilsbane Caverns just now, clearing it out as I have so many times before. I open a random chest in the one of the rooms and it contained BOTH a +1 Detect Hidden book and a +1 Mercantile book! |

Right now I'm doing the mage's guild (or whatever it's called here) quest, and regularly getting pieces of a set as I go through it. Of course, it's mage armor and I don't use it. I either hit level 31 or 32 last night. |

And yes, they're not NEARLY as good as the stuff you can smith at your given level but the game is already WAY too easy as it is, so I've sworn off smithing. I've limited myself to only using yellow or purple items and it has created a lot more excitement and tension for me. |

I've also noticed that creatures you encounter during quests are much tougher than the same types of creatures you encounter just wandering around. |
