That's stupid.

Once he walked the first batter after the error, it was clear that error got into his head.

KC_Connection 04-11-2012 05:49 PM

Yeah, probably a bad idea to get in a fight with Broxton.

ChiefFripp 04-11-2012 05:49 PM

Can we get a sober pitcher now?

Discuss Thrower 04-11-2012 05:49 PM

I just remembered Broxton is on my fantasy team. Mother**** you Dayton Moore.

Saul Good 04-11-2012 05:49 PM

As far as I'm concerned, Ned Yost lost that game.

Holland for closer.

Make him take a Greyhound home

mnchiefsguy 04-11-2012 05:51 PM

Why is this guy the Royals closer again? Seems like Holland would be the better choice, Broxton just does not seem to have it.

Amazing how he looked awesome before the error, and completely fell apart after. And some people would believe there is not some intangible mental aspect to the game.

I get respecting your closer enough to not go out and talk to him the first guy he walks, but if I'm Pena behind the plate I at least go out there, remind him how fat he is and him slap on the ass.

I have to agree, this one goes on the list right next to the seagulls.

3 years from now we'll be going like "remember when Broxton hit two guys in extra innings to lose the game?"

You're probably right.

If he lets an error shake him up like that, he probably shouldn't be your closer.

Lacks the mental toughness.

If this was true, I can't think of a situation where a player should ever be blamed for a loss. Broxton is not 20.

As far as I'm concerned, aside from perhaps deciding on Broxton over Holland or Crow in spring, Ned Yost did absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever.

He was done after that error and he's done completely. I watched melt downs like that on a regular basis when he was a dodger

SuperChief 04-11-2012 05:55 PM

****ing lame. Had to watch the ESPN Gamecast as I'm at work; it showed up with 2 straight HBP, and I thought it was a mistake for sure on ESPN's end.

kstater 04-11-2012 05:56 PM

Hudler says back to back plunks to lose is just baseball.

I've come to the inevitable conclusion that you and I view the mental part of the game a lot differently, so I won't debate this with you.

BryanBusby 04-11-2012 05:58 PM

Well this one is certainly going down in the anals of history.

Dr. Johnny Fever 04-11-2012 05:59 PM

lets go roy-als... clap clap clap-clap-clap?

Kidd Lex 04-11-2012 06:00 PM

This one hurts more because of the implications, coming to play your home opener after an uplifting 4-2 start brimming with confidence is different than flying east after blowing a W in extra innings at 3-3.

Oh well, long season.

I didn't see the last inning on my gamecast. How bad was the last inning? Ken Harvey bad?...watch out for the tarp! And don't stand between the cutoff man and the catcher on the relay throw!

SnakeXJones 04-11-2012 06:03 PM

Gordon still deserves POG

FUUUUUUUUUUUU

Same shit, different year.

Still on the bandwagon, but Holland, Crow, or anyone else need a shot before JB gets in there again with the game on the line.

Let's call up Gio & Coleman & get this shit going for real. Know it's not gunna happen, but it'd be nice.

To be honest, he earned the rights to the closer job last year. Broxton was a guy who sucked, then got hurt playing on another team. I appreciate that you don't want to mess with a guy like Holland who had the success he did last year, but......

Broxton threw pretty much every pitch in the exact same spot. 2 feet outside to the lefties. The rightys came up & he threw it in the same spot and hit both of them in 2 pitches. It was pretty bad.

chiefsfan987 04-11-2012 06:10 PM

I know it's just one game, but this is just typical Royals. I don't see anything from the first six games that make me believe this season is going to be any different from any of the past 10 seasons. They find ways to lose in games they're in far too often instead of grinding out wins when they don't play their best.

Haha that description got me laughing. Laughing at it is the best way...especially in such a long season.

However, when Cassel threw his INT to Weddle no amount of laughing could help with that.

Canofbier 04-11-2012 06:10 PM

I just don't understand how a pitcher can give up two runs to the worst offensive team in baseball without even giving up a hit. What a complete failure.

Al Bundy 04-11-2012 06:12 PM

Did the coaching staff even see Broxton throwing from the stretch during his bullpen session? No way I would put him in like that.

He's actually acquired some decent talent on a budget. Some bad misses too, but what gm hasnt? It's a marathon not a sprint. We gotta believe in the process, after all GMDM > Baird > Herk > hand warts > anal warts > penile warts > herpes > HIV > Aids. Accurate?

The greater than game always starts out as a part of a real analysis and inevitably ends with Cassel. Never fails.
