Just looking at some numbers here now that we're 20 games in (mid-term of the first quarter). Don't know what they mean for certain, but I found some of these interesting:
3 players are on pace to hit over 30 HRs. Gordon's on pace for 32, and Butler and Hoz are on pace for 40.
Hosmer has struggled so far only hitting .198. He's still on pace for 40 HRs and 100 RBI. If he gets hot, I have no idea what his ceiling could be.
Escobar is second on the team in total bases. He's on pace for 56 doubles and 72 extra base hits (not to mention 32 stolen bases). If not for Butler, Escobar would be our MVP so far.
Butler's on pace for 40 HRs and nearly 50 doubles. The rest of the lineup hasn't been tearing it up, and he's on pace for 130 RBI.
Moose is quietly putting together a nice start to the season, but he needs to cut down on the strikeouts. As it sits, he's on pace for .300, 16, 81. I don't think his average will remain this high, but I think 16 HRs and 81 RBI are doable. He also leads the team in OBP.
Gordon obviously got off to a terrible start, but he's now got 18 hits, and his average is up to .231. Here's the incredible thing, though. His OBP is .341. He's walked 13 times. Despite the slow start, he's on pace for 32 HRs and 81 RBI.
Francouer has been an absolute turd at the plate hitting .225 with a whopping 3 RBI.
Can we please just get healthy?
Our CF production sucks, and so does our Catching. If Cain can come back and play well, Cain, Gordon, Hosmer, Butler, Moose, Francouer, Perez, (Getz/Yuni/Gio), Escobar suddenly looks pretty good again.
