Dont buy a hard drive. Just plug a jump drive into your xbox (imagine works for ps3 too).
It is roughly an 8 gig install.

I played this bastard for a good 6 hours last night. good god it's glorious.

I could not get into GTA IV. I thought San Andreas was one of the best games ever, but IV didn't do it for me.

Bought this as a B-day present to myself. Played for 2 hours and I'm hooked. Miles better than GTA IV.

Didnt play last night. Another torturous 12 hours before I get to play.

Yeah, I was wondering if that was the same guy from The Lost and the Damned. I had a hard time with Lost and the Damned if only because the driving sucks on IV, and they compound that by making you ride around on a bike and have to manually shoot at people. I made it about 5 missions deep into that game before going back to Red Dead Redemption.


So far I am really loving the story for V. I thought it would be cliche to love Trevor but man do I love that character. So far, I am not seeing any issues that reviewers were complaining about in regards to the story. However, I am only 22%.

as others have mentioned, there are so many awesome lines in the writing. Too many to count.

This and RDR are probably the best games I've ever played.

I really enjoyed the story with IV. I just think they tried to stretch it too thin.

I haven't heard complaints about 5's story. I knew they bagged on The Lost and the Damned really hard because you had to actually play as "a bad guy".

Well, I take that back. There is one scene that people are getting up in arms about, but its really some knee-jerk reaction bullshit. Its no different than what you would see in a movie, and the scene in question would absolutely make a PG-13 rating.

I think it was escapist that said he had an issue that the characters that were our protagonists so he felt it was morally wrong to root for them. They gave it a 3.5/5 if i remember. That is just ****ing stupid. Although the only relevant thing on that site is Zero Punctuation which I really dont get the appeal for. An Australian guy talks fast and nitpicks games while making subtle jokes. Rinse. Repeat.

Kotaku said the 3 protagonist story doesnt work to its full effect. Joystiq said the story stumbles. Game Informer said the story isnt as good as RDR. Seriously if you compare it to one of the best videogame stories ever...

I normally only care about Kotaku and Rev3Games for reviews, but the complaints of story had me dig deeper... Only to find these reviewer have no idea what the **** they are talking about.


Reminds me of the PennyArcade rant which complained of how much is lost when you have to game on a deadline. How much better gameplay and storylines are when you can take your time at your own pace. I bet if these reviews didnt have a deadline of Monday, they would be a lot different.

Sounds lame, but just practice. You need a good feel for it if you're going to play some of these missions that demand shooting and precision driving.

Get car that corners well. For sharp turns you just have to ease up on the gas with a good handling car.

I've always preferred getting around on crotch rockets in GTA.

If you really want to get good, go play GTA III and drive around. After that hassle driving in this game should be cake. :D

not sure though. I want to find some 4 wheelers etc. I also want to skydive, but I don't think it's something you can do w/out unlocking it first in some sort of mission.

is it the same with the Flight School?

Flight School was unlocked after one of Trevors early missions ( The one I referenced flying a plane earlier)

Also once you meet trevor you'll find the 4 wheelers ;)

Same here. One time I managed to get it touched down and it said my landing gear had been severely damaged. FUUUUUUU. I finally got it completed with some, eh hem, "minor damage". :D

Dabbled in GTA a bit the other night at a buddy's house, can't wait to dive in headfirst...online looks INSANE when it drops.

Between GTA, TLoU, and Arkham Origins...next gen is going to the back burner for a while.

hell yea. when I take a break from the game I'll just hail a cab and listen to the soundtrack as the cab drives around. I've always been impressed with GTA's soundtrack.

I been jacking a lot of high end cars and motorcycles and tricking them out. my cars all get bulletproof tires and improved engine performance. Thats always fun and a great feature in the game. Hell even swimming is awesome on here.
