Seems like they are ready to let him go until the wheels come off. If he would have had started at this kind of from the beginning I wonder how long he could have gone. He used to play almost every game every year when he was younger.

Ya I was at work listening on the radio. I just watched that catch and he didn't do it any justice. That was awesome and that doesn't happen every day you have to show some excitement.

Yeah no shit. That was a terrible call.

I thought the call was good. If he screamed everytime Cain made a good play then he would be screaming the whole game.

I'm a Denny Matthews defender. I prefer his style over most others, I don't like overenthusiastic announcers and I appreciate that he always calls the game. Even during his stories, he lets me know that the crack of the bat was a foul ball.

That said, this call was disappointing. He should not get amped up too often, but we're not going to see a better defensive play in the outfield this year. He needed to turn it up for this one.

I'm not sure there is a better play in baseball than robbing the opposing team of a home run.

Especially in their park.

2003 Royals play 2013 Royals. Winner takes all. Who wins?

I'd take this year's team... but I'm all about the pitching. This year's offense isn't as good. We don't have a Beltran and that team didn't pound the ball but they had several 10-15+ HR guys. But I'd take Shields/Santana/Guthrie over May/Lima/Brian Anderson. Good pitching and terrible hitting is usually a better option than good hitting and terrible pitching, if the last 20 years of Royals baseball has taught you anything.

I couldn't even come up with a list of all the guys who started a game for the Royals in 2003... it was a true patchwork rotation. May, Hernandez, Affeldt, Lima, Kyle Snyder, Gobble, even Appier had his comeback stretch. There were a bunch more.

Don't forget Chris George and his 7.71 E.R.A.

Should've remembered him. I went to a game that summer against the Cardinals where he got absolutely lit up. Still finished with a 9-6 record too. I wonder how many times a 7+ ERA guy has done that. If we had a 7 ERA starter on this year's team he'd probably be 0-17 at this point.

No...he'd have three games where he threw six innings of shutout ball thus earning him six more starts each time.
