Why you ask? Its because Consoles make more money for developers. Not because they are better.

And why do consoles make developers more money than PC? Well, let me say this for the fortieth time.

CONSOLES ARE SHITTY PCS THAT HAVE SOFTWARE WHICH PIGEONHOLES YOU INTO BUYING HIGH PRICED GAMES, GETTING MICROTRANSACTED, AND CONTROLLING EVERY ASPECT OF USER EXPERIENCE IN ORDER TO GENERATE REVENUE IN A MARKET WHICH YOU HAVE NO ALTERNATIVES.

And as long as they have people BUYING INTO that business model, they will continue to do so.

Good thing its a SHRINKING market, and only plebs fall victim too it. I could give a shit about sports games. Ill stick with every other thing done better.

So why would I go pc again?

Dude, I have provided you with auction links and you totally ignore them.

You haven't provided anything.

You think a buy it now price is a high bid because you are an idiot.

That last link you posted has 7 pending offers because no one is going to buy it now.

Lets run down the games you provided links for...

1) "Brand New Game"
2) Buy it now price
3) "Brand New Game"
4) Buy it now price

You couldn't possibly fail any harder for providing evidence on selling a used game.

I don't really care about what the PC offers, I like the convenience of the console and I like playing the exclusives that come to consoles.

I only buy one or two games a year so sales and stuff don't mean much to me. Really the only games I do buy are shooters and I wouldn't want to be at a disadvantage because the guy who killed me spent more money on his PC than I did or is hacking or some shit.

PC market is bigger, and getting bigger, thats a fact.

Out of all the defense in the name of consoles you are citing the best one, convenience. That is good enough for some people. And no one said they where going away any time soon. In fact, this thread, and the whole PC v Console argument as a whole, is really centered around the fact, that people that don't know shit, keep claiming that PC gaming is the one dying, when it is most assuredly not.

Consoles ARE more convenient. Slightly. But you also have to pair them with either a smart device or a pc to even have this conversation.

As for shooters, honestly. FPS on controllers is utter shit. Its like driving without power steering, and nobody kills you becuase he spent more money on his PC. Hackers are rarely a problem in any game, and guess what, people have hacked on 360s for years, and I would bet my ass people are already doing it on the new systems. Not to mention since your brand new 'next gen' console is really a ****ing PC, you are going to start seeing more of it, and with increased sophistication.

dumbass.

are you this ****ing dense.

THOSE ARE NOT SOLD GAMES, THOSE ARE ASKING PRICES OF UNSOLD GAMES.

It proves nothing.

once again, EVEN IF those games sold at that price, that is NOT THE DOLLAR AMOUNT THAT WOULD RETURN TO THE SELLER. You are talking 42 bucks, minus 5 for shipping, and 16% in fees. That brings the recouped amount to around 30 dollars.

If you take your shit to gamestop you'll get half that.

Tell me again how you showed me anything?

If somebody is getting 60fps without any dips and I'm dipping below 30 when there is a bunch of shit going on he is going to have an advantage over me. Yeah I could build a more powerful system than the PS4 for a comparable price, but I'd be at a disadvantage when going up against someone who has over a grand into his PC.

Hardware lag? why would that happen? you would be running the game at the correct settings to ensure adequate performance..

Frames do not equal latency. I dont think you get it.

It's a matter of price and pc loses. Unless you're blessed to be near Black Friday, all PC players can say is "Just wait months and months for the price to drop to 9.99."

Are we considering the price of speakers, monitor, m/k, chair and desk at all? We haven't even discussed that as of late.

Not to mention in the guys reviews it suggests that it is a bootleg. LOL PIRACY !

To be fair, that may not be true. But people pirate the shit out of 360 games for sure.

People don't have a couch and tv? A controller already comes with the console.

You don't buy an extra controller? mouse and keyboard can be had new as little as 15 bucks for both. Dont worry, you will get that investment back in just the purchase of one game. Or, better yet, you probably already have it.

This makes no sense. I bought bf4 for 20 bucks on black friday, which was the day of official release. (pre-order beta players had already been playing on PC for weeks)

BTW, I like how you like to use battlefield as an example, since DICE devolves for PC and then shits on it for revenue in the form of a console release. In fact, they are a big force behind mantle, which is set to change the way PC hardware speaks to each other ,and increase CURRENT pc hardware game speeds from 45% to 300% faster in its current alpha state.

That's right, BF4 runs 45% faster on mantle then on direct X (which was already allows the game to be run at ultra settings at framerates consoles could never dream of). That means your console, which you bought and is stuck in its state for the next 5-8 years, just got 45% slower (just in bf4, other games are 300%), 3 months after release.

Dayum.

He's actually referring to the NBA game that isn't actually a buy it now price.

It's current bid is $31 with 9 hours left. He tried to link it as proof of used games selling for more than what you were saying but he's so reeruned he missed the "Brand New" tag on the auction and the sellers comment of "brand new and sealed."

The best part of this whole thing is that you can actually sell your steam games as well.

People do it all the time.

They spend $400 building their account on steam sales and then sell their account for a profit.

There are still only a handful of exclusives.

If you like the console exclusives fine, but that in no way validates the platform as better than PC, since as always, PC does what console does, but better. Far better.

PC is great because you can do virtually everything on it even outside of gaming and it's completely customizable and limitless. Work, school, gaming, audio, tv, hosting.. all of it in one box.

Consoles are good for just having a central and specialized gaming platform and these days have a ton of exclusive titles so for some of the big names like Madden or whatever, it's that specific console or nothing (which makes consoles a bullshit corporate policy wet dream). Apples and oranges really..

No, I completely get it. I've been exclusively a PC gamer virtually my entire life, from TRS-80 giant floppy disks playing frogger as a toddler to MSDOS games to Quake, Counter-Strike and on down the line and had the PC Master Race mentality too. Then I realized the argument for what it is: apples and oranges.

Outside of exclusive titles, there is virtually no advantage to consoles as a gaming platform, but that doesn't make it any less viable or convenient or popular. Want to use a controller? Buy one for a PC. There's absolutely nothing to argue about because it is what it is. Consoles are such a big thing because it's appealing to the mainstream and casuals because everything is prepackaged and corporatized. Even the "well I don't want to spend $1000 on a PC" doesn't even hold water because you can buy a mid range $600-800 rig and run virtually anything these days and still be able to upgrade in the future as needed. Next Gen consoles are what, $500? And then you still pay $60 per title and factor in the HD TV and you've spent way more than you would on a PC.

Half-Life...

Just run down the list of every popular RTS and MMO...

What do PC gamers say they miss?

Madden? That game is so good all console players do is bitch about it and pray EA doesn't get exclusives again.

kcxiv 01-17-2014 04:47 AM

As much as I hate madden ****ers still buy it every year regardless. We all get that PC is more powerful. Consol e is just easier/!azier and what most people been doing their whole life. Also remember for certain online games PC games have low online players. I can like I said play mystreet fighter on PC which I have and have to wait 10-15 min for a 3 min match. On Xbox I wait about 1.2 seconds.

In all seriousness, while I'm sure the majority of the hardcore gamers here (and to a certain extent, everywhere) are building PCs from components, the VAST majority of the PC market is "pre-packaged and corporatized".

Buck 01-17-2014 08:32 AM

I do both. PC is a much more customizable experience, and generally that's a good thing. The game catalog is much better too. Keyboard and Mouse is a lot more precise than controller, but when I want to play games like 2K14, I use an xbox controller.

Consoles smoke the PC when it comes to casual gaming, which isn't a knock. If I want to kick back and lay in bed or veg on the couch while playing video games, I'm gonna play my PS3 or 360. And the exclusives are strong enough to justify owning them.

In the end, it's my $, I decide what I'm spending it on.

When you buy a pre-built PC, the OS is not designed to keep you in a perpetual money loop with the manufacturer of the product and its cohorts.

On a console, every single iota of your user experienced is designed to be controlled.

Urc Burry 01-17-2014 09:27 AM

Why is it such a big deal that most people prefer console gaming? We get it, PCs are more powerful. But when I get off work plopping down on the couch with a controller in my hand sounds way more appealing

I don't understand this obsession with couch gaming. I have a perfectly comfortable chair, and really I would rather use that.

yep, perfectly understandable

Consoles have a convenience and simplicity that PC's don't

They also have some titles made only for them

2 very viable reasons to use a console

people trying to invent these other reason are full of shit though

Urc Burry 01-17-2014 05:25 PM

Yep... to each their own. I guess you could say PC's are better for reasons listed, but I will always have a preference of consoles.

Neither do I

I game on my PC in the same place on the same TV I use for my PS3 your gaming set up is what you make it to be. You can make your PC gaming just as comfy as console gaming

Try playing a FPS with a controller and no aim assist against other gamers using a mouse.

It isn't fun.

Well what about Steam? I have to wait a certain amount of time for a game to drop in price.

That sucks.

Ahh yeah that's another good point. I actually bought the PS4. I was always an xbox guy, and I think I might of made a mistake. Thinking about getting out of the PS4 and going back. That titan fall game looks sick.

No kidding.

If PS4 let me hook a mouse and keyboard in I would buy one.

Don't know what? That your self-righteous banter about the "purity" of PC gaming is hilarious?

If you don't believe that PC and PC OS manufacturers are actively seeking to get more money from you in the same way console makers are you're either in denial or completely naive.

Yet, 10s of millions do everyday!

What's stopping you from doing that with a PC? lol

Don't you have to wait for console games to drop in price to?

Not to mention, when a game drops on steam, it drops on the other 40 digital download services at the same time.

I am not sure of the point of that post.

No, a lot buy a core system mid range and upgrade individual components from the start. It is a good way to get in cheap, buy a OOP gaming rig new and upgrade, will save you a good 50%

I wanted titanfall but the fact it is only 6v6 pisses me off. A game like that needs to be 24player at the least imo...

Yes, TERRIBLE!

Likely it had to do with constraints on console power :/

It's not the same. Like someone else said.. I play mainly shooters and sports games.. You can't play shooters with a controller while you play against ppl on keyboard and mouse. And I have friends over a lot to play madden or 2k... and a console is just way more convenient

No because you can resell them. PC pros don't seem to understand this.

New World Order 01-17-2014 10:00 PM

That's not entirely true. Titanfall isn't 6 v 6, and even if it was consoles can handle 32 v 32 games like Battlefield.

New World Order 01-17-2014 10:05 PM

We have already seen a video criticizing pc gaming because developers focus more on consoles. Hometeam even agrees that developers treat pc as a second rate machine.

This debate was over 4 pages ago.

And most PC games start out cheaper then console games so it pretty much evens out.
