I doubt anyone wanted to pay him whatever part of that 8.5 he'd be due. Also, Sammy has been a FP at practice (I believe), maybe they just wanted another target for peanuts just in case someone goes down. I realize this is Pat and not Alex but look what happened last year when Kelce went down against the Titans...

I see this as nothing more than a Revis signing that has much more of a chance of working in the long run but we will see.

Don't think Watkins had much of anything to do with us signing Benjamin. Veach just loves his reclamation projects.

He killed Gilmore last season though so maybe that's why we got him lol

Instead of? Which safety or corner with starting experience and former good play on tape was released recently?

NJChiefsFan 12-06-2018 07:42 PM

NE signs him predictions of a turnaround abound.

KC signs him predictions of continued fatness abound.

dirk digler 12-06-2018 07:42 PM

Watkins has been limited in practice both days so wondering if they are concerned about him being healthy the rest of the year

Kiimo 12-06-2018 07:45 PM

He's 6-5, 245 and runs a 4.6

He's a tight end in this offense.

pugsnotdrugs19 12-06-2018 07:46 PM

This doesn’t have shit to do with Watkins. You don’t sign a WR into this offense for 4 games + playoffs if you think he’s gonna start or some shit. He won’t even have the offense down.

This guy is literally here to catch a few fade passes in the end zone. That’s it.

You need to buy some better potato chips, dumbass

Titty Meat 12-06-2018 07:48 PM

A cheaper deal to bring back next year over Conley :(

TLO 12-06-2018 07:48 PM

I hope this isn't a sign that Watkins is more seriously injured than we first believed. We could really use him back on the field ASAP.

pugsnotdrugs19 12-06-2018 07:49 PM

I bet they have him run a fade or slant on Sunday inside the 5 for a TD. That’s how simple of a transition this is. They aren’t going to ask him to learn this offense that thoroughly in a month.

wazu 12-06-2018 07:50 PM

This is what Gehrig gets for not catching his target on Sunday.

I’d like to see some drag routes giving Mahomes a big target in the middle of the field at all times.

Hope you are right but I hate the fade pass so hopefully it is more for catching pass in the short middle of the field.

At the very least Benjamin seems to be able to high point the ball well. Should be a pretty good match with Mahomes in that regard.

I don’t love the fade either but with a guy like Benjamin and Mahomes throwing it, it’s probably a better than 50/50 proposition.

He can be used on slants too. Just get inside leverage and Mahomes will stick it in his chest.

pugsnotdrugs19 12-06-2018 08:07 PM

I’m not expecting a ton out of Benjamin, but the dude is yet to play in this league with a good passer. Just something to consider.

If Mahomes can put it up high accurately, he’s gonna go get it 9 times out of 10.

Not sure what Hill’s speed does in the red zone but hopefully Benjamin can still go up for the ball like it’s a hush puppy.

Well when he's in the slot

I should correct it and say 'quickness' not speed

Easy 6 12-06-2018 08:11 PM

Love me some Veach being aggressive, you know its a probationary contract

Let him and Watkins see who wants it more in camp next year

srvy 12-06-2018 08:13 PM

Seems the one pass we never attempt that the league kills on or gets dpi is the lob to the corner end zone. I always wonder why but at the rate we score now in the RZ I didnt question. I always wondered if we lacked the physical big body receiver to go get the jump ball. Maybe Kelvin can be that.

MMXcalibur 12-06-2018 08:13 PM

We just matched Benjamins with the Chargers.

Hey Guys!!
Bills fan here.
Congrats on having an awesome year! You guys have an excellent team and have been fun to watch.
Just wanted to offer some 1st hand perspective.
First and foremost, i want to make clear - this isnt a salty post.
I hope KB has success with you and he finds what he has been lacking.
That said, you guys have a good thing going. You dont need this dude.
I cant even explain how excited we were to get this cat last year. We have poop at WR, and KB wanted to be a #1 so it seemed like a good fit. Ive seen the rationale about not having good qbs etc and honestly there might be a bit of truth to that.... but in the end, that wasnt KBs issue.

After almost 2 seasons, im not sure what he is. We hoped hed be a guy who would gobble up jump balls and help the qb look better. The sad fact of the matter was, when a pass was thrown it got to the point where you hoped it wasnt going his way. His game SHOULD be going up and making a play for his qb. Time after time after time he was out muscled by someone half his size.

Think about that. This dude is 2x the db, but that little guy just got done having his way with him. They kept trying and trying and trying. I can think of 3 times his entire tenure here where he jumped and outplayed his defender to make a play. Not a big deal for a Watkins type - but thats HIS game!!!
Hope that when you need a big play the ball goes nowhere near him. Honestly, ive never seen a WR drop more balls that litterally hit him in the hands. Thats an issue, when you see a ball going towards him in space and you have to worry about him catching it. It got to the point where the only ball he caught was a body catch.

The weird thing was, its a contract year. Ive never seen a player act like they had ALREADY signed that big deal before it happened. Even if he went somewhere else, ya still wanna look good - right? Maybe he got in his own head as he alluded to... maybe not. I dont know, but that brings the next issue..

Alligator arms. Look no further than a play at the goal line last week in MIA. Allen tosses a dime to KB at the goal line. A defender was closing in but still 5 yards away. Instead of making a catch by extending his arms 3/4 of the way, he lets the ball hit him in the hands and just drops it. His last big catch the week before in JAX, he caught it, but still almost dropped it and juggled it. Time and time again, if there was someone closing in the ball went right to the turf. It was almost as if he didnt want to catch it bc that meant contact was coming

The fact of the matter is BUF has a bunch of young speedy no name guys. They could use a big tall posession receiver to make plays, be the guy, and be counted on when ya needed an important catch. He wasnt that. Their young guys are coming along, but you would look at those names and say they are deprived...but yet it was addition by subtraction.

He quits on routes, runs poor routes, refuses to adjust to balls and when its not on the money he just quits and makes no attempt to break up a play. Hes slow to begin with, but if he knew it wasnt coming his way - hed jog.

The final nail in the coffin was last week he and Zay Jones ran the same route across the middle. Zay was 10 deep and KB was 20. Zay got the ball and scored. KB didnt even turn around to see if he caught the ball and instead of turning to celebrate he never turned around and just kept walking around the wall.

We will never know what went on, but his attitude became poor and he was hurting more than helping. That might be ok if you are an asset on the field but he became a hindrance. 5 games in rather than being our #1, fans wanted him cut. When it actually happened, it was in the top 5 highlights of the season. No joke

If i was a Chiefs fan, i wouldnt want this guy anywhere near my team.
You guys have a great thing going and i hope KB ends up helping rather than hurting. I really do. For your sake, if the game is on the line and ya need a big play, i hope its not going his way. Only bad things happen.

As i said, ive really enjoyed your team and your year and am rootimg for you to go places. I loved Mahomes coming out and was excited when we picked Allen as there are a lot of similarities. Seeing KB signed in KC, as a fan who loves the NFL and what you guys are doing was dissappinting and made me sad. Hopefully he is just a low end guy who has no importance placed on him. Im not sure if his ego or head will allow that, but now that its happened i hope it can.

Good luck the rest of the way! Im excited to see where the season takes you guys and i hope this is your year. Cheers!!

Cheers!!

lol we do have some HEALTHY competition at WR now don't we boys!? Said it a few times before, but KB would be perfect in D Harris' role as occasional big red zone target!

No joke

Exactly, he was not signed to be "the guy" and if he continues to be lazy he won't even see the field.

Shame you guys feel that way.
We appreciate when folks respectfully come to our board and offer a first hand view about the new player and what went right and what went wrong. I tought id take a few min and do the same. Considering you have 25 discussion pages dedicated to it, it seems there is quite a bit of thought being given to your '6th wr'.
Thanks for affirming it was time well spent...

You're welcome. Just for the record, it hasn't been a secret to anybody watching the NFL that Benjamin has been a fat, lazy, and depressed waste of space ever since he got traded to Buffalo.

Hill
Watkins
Conley
Robinson
Harris
Kelce
Benjamin

That’s some weapons in the passing game....can’t double any of them

If so the BBQ in KC will turn him into a great nose guard.

Don't mind him. His life is complete shit and he's super depressed over it. Literally everyone is praying for him.

I hear gobills loud and clear, his perspective of Benjamin clearly rings of the truth... no one here honestly disputes that, but KC isnt anything at all like the situation in Buffalo

Maybe he works out here with proper tutelage, maybe he doesnt... but his ceiling is potentially much higher here, McDermott has a ways to go

No offense, but you Buffalo fans have seen enough to know its true

I’m sure Benjamin can find a role here

My pleasure! Good luck!

I think ultimately he may have wanted out, but giving up would be more detrimental than just playing well for a nice deal and going else where. I think he talked the talk going into the year and then things just started faltering and he got in his own head and became the pinata for the team and their fans. Odd part was is all he had to do was ball out and make a couple big plays and all would be forgiven. Instead of working to break out of it, he just gave in.

Here he gets a fresh start and he diesnt have to work for it. Hopefully he nails it, bc he might not get another. Also, he has everything to gain from turning it around so hopefully he can

Wow, you can see that he's overweight and it's slowing him down. He is literally "chugging" through his route. We better plan on moving him to tightend.

Dude needs to embrace a switch to TE, it would actually benefit his career.

This guy is literally here to catch a few fade passes in the end zone. That’s it.

Has Mahomes thrown even one fade this season?

Alex obviously never threw any.. I don't think Reid likes them.

Don't mind him. His life is complete shit and he's super depressed over it. Literally everyone is praying for him.

I appreciate the post billsfan

wonder if he was doing all that so he could get out of buffalo

but you would think he liked the hot wings

Maybe he likes KC bbq more? Word on the street is that Benjamin saw a pic of Andy in the Chiefs' locker room w/o a shirt and said: "I want what he's having!" :D

Alex obviously never threw any.. I don't think Reid likes them.

I remember him throwing one to D-Rob last year against Denver, which Robinson dropped on a perfectly placed ball.

If Mahomes hits the target, it’s almost indefensible with Benjamin’s size.

It doesn't mean we don't like you. This board is kind of like a Bills tailgate party.

I would think that the opportunity to play with Patrick Mahomes II would motivate any wide receiver to pursue greatness.
