The Patriots taped a thermometer to the walkway where the Chargers came out last weekend. They've done that before, just so you can see how cold it is as you come out on the field.

At least during the game, it should be the warmest it will be all day. It might be 15-10 degrees the entire game if we are lucky. While it was 30 degrees last game.

Odds that the Patriots will hire someone to sabotage the heaters on the Chiefs sideline to ensure they don't work properly? I can see them doing that.

We're the home team. That isn't happening. This is why we wanted homefield so we don't have to get roped in to any of the Patriots tricks.

Interesting. It says that the colder it gets, there are more turnovers makes sense.

We have a very opportunistic defense, yet it allows yards.

The Chiefs are 1st in forced fumbles, 1st in Sacks, 9th in interceptions. And that is all amplified when we are at home.

We are 23rd (good) in giveaways (fumbles + ints). 6th in turnover margin.

They've got the big chiefs torch thing that they shoot off during starters being announced. That ****er heats up the stadium.

Just put one of those in each corner and fire it up the whole game.

JoeyChuckles 01-16-2019 09:01 AM

NWS is back up to a high of 17 on Sunday, with a low of 11 Sunday night.

No snow estimates yet for Saturday, but I'd guess 3-6.

We are in the corner on the same side but on the other end of the field, and we feel the heat blast whenever that thing goes off. I can only image how hot it must be for the people sitting by the tunnel.

Wimps of the world, Canadians are laughing at us. Play the game. 50 years ago we couldn't go out and play football because one mommy wouldn't let her kids outside to play if it was below freezing.

19 degrees and snow over 33 degrees wins everytime.
--------------------------------------------
A few tips I have learned over the years tailgating. Use charcoal not propane if the temp is less than 5 degrees. (propane does not flame well in a sub zero enviroment and cold chili sucks) Chili in a thermos is a good option.

Put your cold food in the cooler to keep it from freezing. ( I learned at the last Colts vs Chiefs playoff game... Crunchy potato salad and frozen Coke sucks.

Keep your insulated boots in the warm cab not in the pickup bed.

A small piece of carpet does work to stand on concrete.

-------------------
Years ago.........
We left southeast Kansas for a game. Nice weather at home and figured out the Arrowhead forecast was for 35 degrees and rain. A WalMart stop for heavy duty trashbags and Duck tape. I looked like a funky arsed Sumo wrestler and was laughed at but...... The bathroom in the 2nd qtr was full of parked wet freezing red blooded Chiefs fans smoking cigarettes. I was toasty warm standing in the rain. The rain stopped in the third quarter and the trash bags left. My gear was dry and we went home happy with a win, listening to Kevin "oh baby what a play" Harlan. Life is good.

I know you're being sarcastic due to being an idiot who doesn't know anything, but this literally is how weather forecasting works. You make a prediction based on information, and as you get more information, you adjust your prediction accordingly.

It's kind of amazing. The weather looks like it was set up intentionally to keep us from getting there. Snow literally across the entire route from NJ to KC.

I didn't want to drive but once the plane ticket costs to KC exploded it put me out of it since I'm buying a ticket for me and my friend(he isn't a Chiefs fan so I had to pay to not go alone). Gonna have to fly in to Chicago or Lincoln or something and drive to KC.

If you can wait, that is best.

The snow storm is a bit ahead of schedule. I live in central Iowa and originally, overnight Friday into Saturday was the problem. Now we're under a Winter Storm Warning tomorrow with snow ending very early on Saturday.

If you're coming from Chicago or places to the northeast of KC, try to get south before you go west, you'll miss more of it that way. Just be aware that it appears there's a forecasted 4-6" snow band southeast from the Iowa border towards St. Louis that includes Kirksville and Columbia.

We're expected to get 8-10" here tomorrow. In KC, they're expecting more like 2-4". There, the front end of the event will be more rain with snow overnight on Friday and ending on Saturday morning.

More than likely. I'm leaving Saturday morning. It is my hope that by that time the worst will be past and the roads will be mostly clear. I suspect the biggest problem will be blowing snow.

As far as routes from Chicago to Kansas City go, there are basically four - the northern route through Iowa - I-88 to I-80 to I-35. The most direct route for going to the area around the stadium is I-55 to I-72, which turns in US 36 at Hannibal, but remains four lanes all the way across the state until it hits I-35. This will probably have the least amount of traffic after you get off I-55. The third route is through St. Louis, which sucks balls. That's I-55 to I-270 to I-70. Out of the way, heavy traffic, and I-70 is generally pothole hell. I'll only go that way if there is a shit ton of snow in northern Missouri making 36 a poor choice.

The last route is sort of a country short-cut route if you're going to the southeast suburbs, like Lee's Summit. That's I-55 to I-72 to US 54 to US 50. This goes through Jefferson City. With the weather I probably won't go that way since it features about 100 miles of 2-lane highway and driving through Sedalia, but under normal conditions it's the shortest and fastest way to Lee's Summit.

And driving through the fat part of Illinois sucks in general, since they have a truck speed limit that's like 55 (or at least they did ~10 years ago), so they all inch past each other at 55.00001mph.

Actually it's 70 now in the open areas. And God does that make a world of difference. I basically set the cruise at 79. That drive is so much easier and faster now.

Of course, I doubt if I'll be able to go 79 on Saturday.

EDIT: The truck speed limit is still lower, but I think it's 65 IIRC. The trucks tend to do around 70, though, so even if you get stuck behind one it's not like it used to be. I certainly remember that one truck doing 56 passing everybody else going 55. ****ers. :cuss:
