Who? What SB champ had a beloted WR contract like Hopskins and Adam's contracts?

Cooper Kupp is the 4th highest paid WR in the league.

That's not too much. If Hill will sign for that then he's a saint. He wants way more that what Kupp signed for. He wants in the Hopkins range most likely.

Hopkins' contract is actually 5th in effective cap hit, AFTER Kupp.

You know who is currently the highest-paid WR in the league? Tyreek Hill at $21M. He's not going to get the kind of money you're worried about. He's like to get around $23-24M per.

chiefforlife 03-22-2022 08:31 AM

If there are better WRs than Tyreek, its Adams and Cupp. I would think 21/22 million/year is market value.

I would like to see Tyreek get his fair share, hes earned it. Also, I would like to see Tyreek accept that knowing that the team still has other needs in order to keep building.

Players like him are rare but teams like this are even more rare. Being on this team has to be so much fun and likely puts him in the Hall of Fame. He and Patrick have a chance to become one of the best QB/WR combo's ever.

Im hoping they can find a reasonable middle ground at say 21/22 million a year.

I fear that if he asks much more, trading him becomes more likely. I want him to be a Chief for Life.

For me not Kupp. Adams, Hopkins, Chase and Deebo. Then Hill in my book.

This is part of the reason you get a bad rap here. You've always gotta take such a hard line stance on everything.. now look atcha.

“It only makes sense”

It didn’t at the time because there was no reason to believe that was the case. I also didn’t know that he was asking or could get 30 ****ing mil per.

I’ve made it very clear that the Chiefs are worse off in the short term.

I said this gives them an opportunity to be better long term, which it absolutely does.

Nice attempt at a gotcha.

The only gotcha here is that I was wrong that he wouldn’t be traded. I’ll take my L there, as would most of us, since we pretty much all thought a trade was unlikely.

Another Grand Slam here

DaFace 03-23-2022 01:10 PM

Not only was this guy off on the timing by a month, but he was off on the value by nearly 50%. Suffice it to say, he can go in the blackballed category for any supposed insider info in the future.

Who hasn’t taken a hard line on Tyreek not being traded?

The revisionist history here is astounding.

None of us thought Tyreek would/should be traded.

None of us knew he would/could get 30 mil per.

Things change with new information.

I was wrong that he wouldn’t get traded. I’m sure most would’ve agreed. So what?

Abba-Dabba 03-23-2022 01:14 PM

For the Chiefs Kingdom Editorial Board, the hits just keep coming.

Pringle, now Reek. Guess those inside sources went poof.

Nick Athan has more inside info, and it's not particularly close.

I’m surprised it happened, but it needed to. I’m not happy we did (because I want to have him), but it’s the right move. Similar comp to Adams as I hoped.

This gives us picks and cap space. Giving Hill the contract he signed is too many eggs in one basket with a high paid QB.

Depends on the dollars and the compensation.

If he brings Adams comp and would cost the same, then I’d trade him.

He was still under contract. It did not need to happen now. Just as things changed, so could they have done so the other way. Use the tag if need be next year. Tyreek is not just some good player, he's special. You find a way to keep those players. IMO, KC should have played out this season with Reek and looked at this next year.

would he have played for what he agreed too (I think he should have honored his contract btw) or would he have become a distraction?

I am reading he would have sat out if not given a new contract. It seems the front office mo is to get rid of distractions.

It sucks. If he stumbles there his shot at the Hof also does.

He deserves the money. Get what you can get for your family. But damn thought he would of taken a little less to stay here.

I thought he would stay too just to stay with PM , I mean he will do good in Miami but he and PM had that it factor that is rare, PM knew where he was at all times

I can’t help but think the AFCCG halftime issue may have been between Tyreek and Pat now that he’s been traded. Maybe I’m crazy.
