At least he's engaging the ball carrier. Honey Vadger wouldn't even do that.

As far as talent goes they're plus guys but that's what makes it frustrating. Thornhill has one good season followed by turd. I said the Reid deal would depend on which version we got. So far we've got closer to the last 2 years version.

I reckon they'll find out the right usage for Reid in the end. I also think Thornhill will piss me off and become a Pro Bowler on another team. But it won't be this one. I'd let him walk in FA without a second thought.

Any possibility that Veach drafted Cook as a Thornhill replacement? Not sure if their skill set or position are similar.

Isn’t Cook more of a strong safety while Thornhill is in the free safety role?

Not sure to be honest. That’s why I am asking those who probably know more than me on it.

In which case you're asking the wrong guy in me! I definitely don't know more BUT I thought as others have said Cook was more a SS. To be honest, I think Reid is better at FS and away from the line, basically the same as Thornhill. Someone else said the closer in he's played the worse he's looked and I'd agree. So maybe Reid ultimately becomes the FS and Cook the SS. But others can put me right. Obviously Spags likes plenty of 3 safety looks so that complicates it. I do know id already trust Cook's tackling over the others, if not his coverage.

He sucks bad. Real bad. Thornhill hasn't been much better.

We finally have some decent young corners, but now we have no safeties. Go figure. :doh!:

Bring back Woods and Wesley. Those guys would lay the lumber on receivers.

Good luck trying to play defense against Buffalo, Cincy, & Miami with really bad safety performance.

That’s embarrassing for a guy talking smack. Never expected him to be Ed Reed, but would have thought he would be better than year three business decision.

It's always a risk when a guy gets his first big contract (especially on defense it seems) that they lose their edge. Clearly that has happened with Reid. Either that, or maybe he's just not picking up the scheme? I don't know, but he has been invisible aside from when he's getting lit up.

Why is that embarassing? They didn't go at him that much. You don't get QB pressures when your crap DC doesn't blitz enough, and he wasn't being thrown at to get INTs These stats are so completely misleading and directed its a joke. Reid was fine yesterday, and his "smack" is really being overblown.

It's weird, the other day we were recognizing that McDufflie is not getting thrown at and this means he's doing his job, but with Reid it means he's not doing his job and he sucks. /CPthings

Publicly. You know there was a private conversation with him bt some coach to knock it off before Ansy makes a public comment,

Andy talks for 20 minutes twice a week to the press and says nothing. Telling him to knock it off publicly was not just a message to him but to the team

I think one factor is re-opening the locker room for reporters during the work week.

You go from 2 years with all press availability from the podium to credentialed reporters with phone cameras itching to get something that gets attention.

That tweet was nothing. Bengals have new game to get ready for.

Looking ahead,

Last MNF game is week 17 Bills at Bengals. Should be significant for playoff seeding.

Raiders have won 3 in a row and have got rid of guys since they played at KC. Raiders could make a run for playoffs.

Week 18 at Vegas may not be easy, but Chiefs should be big favorites in other games, especially if Kenneth Walker III is still injured when Seahawks come to town.

That is silly. Reid has done a good job. Even filled in as backup placekicker.

He should just stay away from reporters when they are allowed into locker room.

There are going to be more gotchas from the local beat reporters now that they get to taste jockstraps in the locker room like the good old days..

Other than Andy doesnt like it, I dont see why this is a big deal.

Our secondary held up much better than I expected and Reid was fine.

Bench him? "Come on man!"

smithandrew051 12-06-2022 11:38 AM

I have a unique recommendation to not allow this player to play this week. He should remain on the bench unless an injury occurs or the clock expires to end the 4th quarter with one the participating teams having scored more points than the other.

If neither team has more points than the other, he should remain on the bench until a team successfully emerges victorious in the overtime period or the clock expires resulting in a tie.

the gameplan appeared to be make burrow throw over the middle the entire game, hoping for tipped passes and a turnover or two to give our offense a huge advantage

the problem was that turnover never came. even so, the defensive scheme was good enough to give us a 4-point lead and the ball. and our offense then ****ing choked.

i think the chiefs had a solid gameplan, they just didn't execute the last 10% of it.

i think the chiefs had a solid gameplan, they just didn't execute the last 10% of it.

This!

A really smart way to play it too. The sacks or turnovers never materialized but the scheme and secondary were good.

We all knew or should have, that holding Bengals under 30 and scoring at least 30 was the way to win this game.

Secondary did their part with mostly rookies and Yes, Justin Reid doing his part.

Our secondary held up much better than I expected and Reid was fine.

Bench him? "Come on man!"

He’s putting himself above team. You can tell his teammates body language when chase talked back that they didn’t love it. It looked like your friend talking all kinds of smack, and then expecting you to have his back when the other guy claps back.

Andy Reid is a fair but very tough coach. His comments alone tell you Justin Reid shouldn’t have said anything the second time. Right now he’s disrespecting coach and he knows better than that

Justin Reid has played exceedingly well the last month and a half.

Yea, he's been fantastic.

louie aguiar 01-17-2023 09:47 AM

He’s really turned it on. Both of our safeties seem to be playing their best football of the season right now.

Wisconsin_Chief 01-17-2023 09:51 AM

The light definitely turned on for him after his whole trash talking issue.

JPH83 01-17-2023 11:31 AM

He was pretty pish earlier in the season, but yeah, had a massive improvement down the stretch. To a lesser extent Thornhill's been the same.

Skyy God 01-17-2023 11:34 AM

Not watching HB, Dirty Dan, and Nieman chuckle**** all season has been a real treat.

Eleazar 01-17-2023 11:36 AM

Feel like he came on down the stretch. Maybe it’s more familiarity with the scheme, more cohesiveness developing in the unit over time, getting 21 back… probably a little of everything. We are definitely way ahead at that position now vs where we’d be with Mathieu, as much as I liked him when he was playing well for us.

displacedinMN 01-17-2023 11:38 AM

I just hope Dallas does not not want him as their kicker.

It seems like he started playing better right about the time we moved Mcduffie over to the slot.
