17 point lead down to 1. Tigers not getting ANY 2nd chance opportunities.
|
So a slap across the arms is a jump ball??? Okay.....
|
Still have the lead, just need to go on a run of our own. It starts with defense.

I mean, losing to Arky on the road is not a bad loss. They’re probably a better team than Mizzou. But you can’t lose a 17 point lead on the road and have any chance of winning. That’s just not gonna happen. |
Kobe Brown needs to dunk about half of those soft layups that are getting blocked.
|
Looking like they did against KU now.
|
Big hack not called under the basket along with a terrible call on the out of bounds that should have been on Arkansas. MU not getting many breaks from the Refs right now....
|
Dude, not gonna beat many teams when theyve shot 72% in the half so far. Ridiculous.
|
JFC, Honor mugged all the way down the court and still made the basket...Refs are going SEC Refs on us....
|
Arkansas got too hot in the second half.
|
This is just ****ing ridiculous. Arky won't miss a shot.

Neutral site or on the road, Arky doesn't go off like this. But the energy the crowd game them just sent them thermonuclear. Really a pretty damn impressive display. Wish Mizzou could've knocked down 3-4 of those chippies to keep the pressure on and see if Arkansas could keep it up. But Mizzou just kept missing. |
And every God damn rebound.
|
They’re breaking the zone with long 2s, which you give them all day… they’re just making EVERYTHING
|
Arkansas just on fire shooting and out rebounding Mizzou almost 3-1 it seems
|
Man, this must be what it feels like to opposing teams’ fans when Jon Sundvold calls a Mizzou game, except I have to think even Sundvold is nowhere near as biased as this color guy.
|
This team is fun, but teams with length and athleticism advantages are going to give them trouble. Sometimes physical ability just can't be overcome.
Gholston is the only Mizzou player who can really create off the bounce when things break down for this unit, beyond Kobe Brown. |
Honestly - I'm more impressed by this loss than I will likely be about most of their wins this year.
Can't do much when the other guys keep drilling contested mid-range jumpers. The defense worked. We got them to do what we wanted them to do. They just stopped missing. And Mizzou kept fighting. This team has heart and talent and are damn well coached. |
Dude just hit our guy in the mouth and no call then they bust a 3….

Weak foul call there on Arkansas but that doesn't fit the bias

Good loss…Arkansas probably won’t shoot this good the rest of the season.

Not going to beat a team that was shooting almost 80%
|
Disappointing loss but I'm still feeling pretty good about this team.

This Isiaih Mosley situation is baffling. Dude seems to have a couple screws loose.

Just getting to the line and trying to slow Arkansas' momentum would've been a big help. That's the problem with teams that don't have a couple of guys who can get into the lane. You play on the road in a hostile environment and you need someone that can go draw a foul, knock down a couple shots and just slow the damn game down for a second to try to get your guys back on track. |
Does Mizzou have a S&C coach? Looks like the team is made up of a bunch of players that have BMI's of about 40%. Reminds me of the old Generals team that played against the Globetrotters.

Just a beaker trolling the MU thread. We don't have to worry about him anymore.

This D can be really good. Theyve been making teams work their asses off just to get a shot off before the shot clock expires.
|
They're lucky to be in this game, let alone leading it, after getting their asses kicked as badly as they did on the boards in the first half.
And yeah, they're a little short, but they're not weak. This is a physically strong lineup - they shouldn't be getting bullied like that. That's an execution/effort problem. |
Really liked seeing Gholston step up when Brown was still trying to find his footing to start the half. They need that secondary scoring in a big way for just these sorts of moments.
It'll keep Brown from getting a little to anxious when he's out of sorts. If he feels like he's all they've got, he'll jack up ill-advised shots even when he's missing. So if we can get that consistent secondary scoring it'll make things easier for everyone. |
Ugly win, but a win all the same.
Man, they just cannot get beat around the rim like that. |
Good lord out rebounded 46 to 27 and allowed 15 offensive rebounds. If this team could rebound just a little better and at the very least stop teams from getting so many offensive boards, then this could very well be a top 10 team.
|
Had a feeling Vandy would play good today but got the win. This is why it will be tough to get 10 -11 conference wins, that’s my goal for this team.
|

We're gonna be bad at rebounding. We just can't be THAT bad. So many of those offensive boards weren't an issue of guys being bigger/stronger than we were. We just didn't have anyone there boxing out at all. And on several our technique was bad; no read off the rim at all so balls were just ricocheting over any of our guys because they weren't reading the miss to try to position themselves. They can definitely improve in the area even if it will always be a bit of a weakness. |
****ing just jacking up 3's.
And ****ing D'Moi Hodge with a ****ing monster dunk! They're 1/14 now from 3 and just keep looking to shoot it. |

It's a Clarence Gilbert game. Make, miss - don't matter, he's shooting. Now the upshot with Gilbert was that on occasion he'd be absolutely unconscious and flat steal you a game. But then he'd be 1/11 from deep and still jack up a transition 3 to get to 1/12... Just is what it is with guys like that. Sometimes you can only throw your hands up, say "well you take with the good with the bad" and hope he got it out of his system... |
Opponents are starting to shoot white hot again and now Mizzou has gone ice cold. Not good.
|
I've seen a lot of big comebacks in college basketball, some succeed and some fail.
The ones that fail seemingly always come down to a single possession in the middle of a hard run where someone takes an ill advised shot that misses or a wide-ass open shot that misses. And then the opponent answers and the air is let out of the balloon. Mizzou battled that sucker down to 49-53 with the ball in their hands and Hodge puts up a challenged 3 that gets blocked. Then after a predictable Aggie offensive board, Mizzou fouls, A&M makes 'em both and Mizzou immediately turns the ball over, fouls again and puts them right back on the line for 2 more. From getting blocked on a possession that could've made it a 1 point game to down 8 in about 90 seconds of gameplay. As soon as that shot got blocked I thought "****, is THAT the play where the air came out of the balloon?" 90 seconds later, it sure as hell felt like it. Damn. |
Ever since A&M hired Gillespie years ago they have dominated this series.

Didn't get to see much of this one, but what I saw was more domination at the boards by the other team. Tigers are really poor at rebounding. And last night gave up way too many easy dunks underneath.
|
Last night shined a light at what the Tigers are NOT good at this year: Creating in the half court. Specifically, they really only have one player who is capable/willing to create off the bounce in the half court (Kobe Brown) and teams that have a big that can match up with him physically can limit that.
Gholston has some ability to do that but is limited. To Dennis Gates' credit, he did line up a player who can do that, but the guy isn't playing for whatever reason he isn't playing. |
It seemed like every possession A&M went to the line in the 2nd half. Didn't take away much negative from MU tbh A&M just looked like one of those sneaky sweet 16 teams last night that does every little thing right

How come Mizzou can never recruit size?
|
Mosley is playing tonight.
I mean he looks terrible, but so does everyone else. Is this going to be semi-permanent this time? |
Really disappointed in these last few games, they’re not snapping out of this funk.
|

Plenty of good looks, smart passes and strong defense. They just can't get shots to fall. |

Yeah, imma go ahead and decide I just don't like Hodge.
Every time we start to build momentum, he'll shoot or foul is right out of it. |
They just don’t match up well with Arkansas.
|
Any chance Musselman leaves Arkansas? Kind of hoping for it.
|
Rebounds and free throws.
Arky has out rebounded Mizzou 31-13. They’ve also made 19-22 from the charity stripe. Story of the game, right there. |
Shaw was supposed to be good? Why does every 4 star that Mizzou recruits play like Glen Dandrige?
|
****ing hell, Kobe Brown. That's not a good loss.
Edit That didn't look too terrible actually. Holy shit, what a comeback. This team has a lot of heart. |

Can't believe we actually came back. It's amazing what a competent coach can accomplish.

SEC schedule is going to be brutal. This was a huge win to stay afloat.
|
Wow. Down 10 with 5 minutes to play, Arky had all the momentum and they pulled it out. Kept getting to the line and making their free throws.
How many Arky guys fouled out? 4? 5? Crazy game. |
