Not intentional, just a big dumbass oaf of a human falling down.

A healthy Mahomes means the game can be won because of him. A 75% of Mahomes would be good enough against any team...except the Bengals who scheme and have had confused him three straight games when he was healthy. He needs to be able to dance around the pocket, slide to either slide, use his back leg to make all the crazy throws he can make and take off with speed to pick up first downs when needed the most. A one legged PM is not the same and the Bengals will exploit that even more. Expecting him to have a miraculous recovery with an injury that sidelines players for upwards of 2-3 weeks, let alone a QB who relies upon his legs, and that he won't miss a beat is very wishful thinking, IMO. Even for Andy Reid. And while I don't know the weather forecast for Sunday night, any type of cold, wet field doesn't help him either.
This game is going to have to be won by the defense which is going up against the hottest team in the league with the QB playing better than anyone else right now, has confidence and has weapons the Chiefs defense has trouble matching up against. Especially with Spagnoula's vanilla defense which lacks LB'er play on either side of Bolton and not a good enough pass rush to protect the secondary. And fanswho keep saying the Bengals can't protect Borrows with an injured and inexperienced offensive line haven't been watching them play lately. |

That said, it's easy for us to watch it on a screen and say it was malicious. We don't know what he was thinking as he was repositioning his body during a huge collision in real time. I doubt he even had the whereabouts to know exactly how he would be landing because they were both in a pretty awkward position. |
I doubt we're getting any kind of updates today? I know Andy Reid will speak today, but I doubt he says much of anything

I need a 24/7 live view of Mahomes' ankle.

After the Cleveland game 2 years ago, we had a long week of Mahomes not being cleared to play until like Thursday. He wasn’t even actually concussed either. Andy will have us guessing by design. |

If you watch the video closely and understand that Key was trying to tackle Mahomes, Its very suspect.
Hes not trying to wrap up. He doesnt slide his arms down around Patricks legs like he was attempting to bring him down. You would think his own legs would be behind his torso, making every effort to launch himself into the tackle. Instead he brings his knee up and appears to target Patricks lower leg. Yes, I am totally biased but watching it makes me feel like there was some intent. Impossible to know for sure and I tend to believe that players do not play to injure other players BUT... It is the Playoffs, whole season on the line, winning is everything at that point. |
Pat McAfee is talking about it on his show right now.

FYI
|
Andy just said that he doesn’t think this sprain is as bad as the one Pat suffered week 1 against Jacksonville in 2019.
You may recall that the week after that injury in 2019 Pat went scorched earth on the Raiders and threw four TD passes in the second quarter. Assuming Andy isn’t blowing smoke up our asses, this is VERY good news. Game on. |
You can't convince me that Key didn't do it on purpose. Just the whole way he fell and lifted his leg up.
|
Maybe a Q, but I've yet to see it
Reid apparently gave Pat an ultimatum, go get x rayed or you're not going back in https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...ry/ar-AA16BJqZ |

Some interesting points. These hip drop tackles might go the way of horse-collar tackles. |

Years back the horse collar tackle combined with the drop hip was almost a sure way to injure a player and get them out of the game. I know I am biased in protecting Patrick Mahomes, but it is hard to believe that DE Arden Key did not do this on purpose. |
Watching the replay, and it's painful to watch... The defender doesn't make any effort to prevent it. Mahomes had clearly released the ball and the player drug him down from behind falling on his legs. Not really a lot different than the horse collar which was made illegal (yet players still do it).

The Spoken is a horrible podcast.

Andy's not going to say shit no matter what. Why give a head's up? Better to keep the Bengals guessing.
