Russini thinks the Chiefs will get more than previously hoped for Sneed from what she’s hearing. She implies a first round pick isn’t out of the question.

I’m skeptical of that as I’ve said before. I’m expecting a second or a package of lower picks. Maybe some combination of moving up in the first and back somewhere else.

I hope she’s right though.

Negatives is the contract, and his knee, but you get what you pay for and if you give me the option of a shutdown corner in his prime, the instincts he has, the experience of being a Super Bowl winner on a historic defense and the strength he would give to your secondary. That knee better be the only reason because I could sell him for a first to another team and Veach should be able to secure a 28 - 45 pick for him easy.

Teams might be spooked after the Chiefs let JuJu waltz into New England with a bum knee.

Hopefully they're quelling those concerns with a physical.

Someone did post what Russini said. Oh well. The article is above if you’re interested.

If someone was gonna give a first....the Chiefs would jump at that.

JuJu had a bum knee before even signing with the Chiefs. JuJu's bum knee is as well known as JuJu himself. That has nothing to do with shit.

Gravedigger 03-07-2024 10:36 AM

I mean it really comes down to why would we help the dynasty? I don't blame them for it, it's probably in their best interest, AFC or NFC. Nobody should want to work with us to try to avoid NFL history being made.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-07-2024 10:42 AM

Russini was talking the Athletic Football pod and in short terms said

1) She thinks Jones is staying

2) She expects the trade to definitely happen with Sneed but it's going to be in another week or so. Probably because the acquiring team has to negotiate the contract terms too.

Hog's Gone Fishin 03-07-2024 10:59 AM

I think the 10-12 spots selfishly. A shot at a blue chip would be awesome. But it makes more sense to add a second and not cost controlled talent.

RunKC 03-07-2024 12:03 PM

Dianna Russini is really good at her job. Shocked she said we could get a 1st for Sneed.

It sounds like the huge market for Sneed is working to our advantage and Veach is driving up the price through that bidding war

Move up. Your more likely to find a atheletic freak that can play and sure thing. Late first 2nd find a nice starter but not the ahteltic freak. With all the QB's coming off the board, some sites have maybe 5 to 6 in the top 15 picks, moving up is going to be be like a top 15 pick. probably get a sure fire Wr or LT who should be able to play.

That would be nice. There also seems to be a number of teams with money and need. Tough to find a lock down corner. Wonder if Sneed is good to go anywhere as long as they pay him.

This isn’t a strong draft or FA period for corners and Sneed is a legit shit down CB.

A couple recent reports backing this hypothesis

I love the term "Former GM" when I see them on TV I just automatically discredit their thoughts. Mike Tannenbaum, Rick Spielman, Scott Pioli... the list goes on and on.

Move up for sure. There is a lot of talent in this draft and because of the QBs, either a WR or LT will drop and be there when KC picked.

I’ll take his thoughts over the random CP guru.

Hell he may be wrong. But his theory backs up what I quoted in the other post

When Robert Mays asked what the Chiefs could get for Sneed Dianna Russini said “for sure a 1st.” She also said the word at the combine was all on the Lions.

We might really get the 29th pick for Sneed LMAO

pugsnotdrugs19 03-07-2024 01:35 PM

That's the type of shit that makes me say if you put a gun to my head or up my ass, I'd probably bet on Mahomes to win 6+ SBs. The organization is dominating in every capacity.

Can you imagine being a Bills fan?

They’re cutting all the big names to get out of cap hell and we turn a 4th round pick into an elite corner then flip for a first AFTER winning another Super Bowl.

I've tried to tell you guys Sneed is a 1st round talent. He's worth a 1st. He's the best damn CB in the NFL and any team trading for him won't have to worry about drafting a 1st round bust

smithandrew051 03-07-2024 01:44 PM

Just based on the Draft Value chart, you could package 29 and 32.

Trade those to Seattle for 16 and 76. Any takers?

Or maybe 29 and 64 to the Rams for 19 and 153.

A LOT of possibilities with 2 first round picks.

Their approach this offseason is as intriguing as any team

Do Beane and McDermott focus on youth and play it conservative to get their cap back on track, or do they pull a Telesco and go ALL in knowing they're getting fired if they don't make it to an AFCCG at minimum

At 29 and 32 you might just stay there and walk away with a WR and Jordan Morgan as your LT or whoever they like most.

If anything though you'd probably see a repeat of 2022 where they go up and get their first pick, and stay put at 32

Also to caution you guys, Dianna said she expects this will take some more time. Most likely after the first wave of FA. Probably not next week but the week after.

She did reaffirm the market is very strong for Sneed. Corner is incredibly weak this year

So the year the Chiefs need a WR and OT is a strong draft for both.

Also the year the Chiefs have a spare elite CB is a weak draft for CB.

I can’t imagine being a fan of another AFC team right now.

Man, if we make a small jump ahead of Buffalo and draft a stud WR…

I don't think you can get up high enough for one of the elite prospects, but if one fell a bit you could.

Just got a notification that Eagles might look to trade AJ Brown? Probably false coming from Bleacher Report though.

Chieftain 03-07-2024 02:15 PM

If you are the Lions and making a push to get to the SB, you aren't finding a better CB than Sneed at pick #29. Simple as that. He was arguably the best corner in the NFL last season so a late 1st for him is more than fair.

Dream scenario is we get 29 and a mid rd pick (4th), use the mid rd pick plus one of ours to trade up for a WR or tackle that’s obtainable, then trade 32 to a team that wants Penix for the 5th year option and gives us a 2, a 4 and a 2025 2 like what the Eagles got for Lamar

We'll see but I think the initial thoughts about comps were crazy.

Shutdown corners in their prime aren't for sale often and this FA+draft class ain't that great.

But the picks+big contract usually = less compensation.

That whole trading a 1st plus an all pro deal isn't all that common. That's a team spending all their resources in one guy.

it should be a first. CB draft class isn't great, FA CB class isn't great. Sneed is plug and play. You absolutely give up a first if you want a CB like that.

Listened to Moving the Chains again today there were several Chiefs calls with regards to Sneed.

They say he is going to set the market for CB's. Around $22 per.

And when all the callers say a 2nd and a 4th, he holds to his guns. Said even though he didn't get All-Pro, his play says he should have been. And his talent says he is worth two firsts. He also said if it is the Colts at 15 then obviously probably won't be two firsts, but if it is someone like the Lions at 29, then yes, two firsts. Or a first and a second at worst. All-Pro talent deserves All-Pro compensation.

All-Pro talent deserves All-Pro compensation.

I don't know who that is but he is reeruned. Sneed isn't going for two 1s.

Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller. Moving the Chains. Sirius NFL Channel.

Said you replace talent with talent. And Sneed is a talent. You don't get a 2nd and a 4th to replace talent.

We'll see.

I’m optimistic after the rumors today, but still doubt we get even 1 first round pick.

I’m still leaning towards a second or a package of lower picks.

Obviously, I would love to be wrong about that.

If you had to choose would you rather keep Sneed (and pay a vet WR) or keep Thuney?

You could also move on from (or extend) Reid to free up some cash. There are plenty of ways to keep Sneed if they really want him. The problem is if they are getting offered a 1st round pick from someone, they are going to take it either way. That’s 5 more years of a 1st round, cost controlled talent and we are ridiculously deep at corner.

This is really a numbers game with Sneed. They clearly think the value he brings via trade is too good to pass up for the long term future with the depth we have at the position. I freaking hate it but it is what it is. They know what they are doing.

That very well could be, but with relatively poor draft and FA CB classes, Bert doesn't HAVE to do anything. KC can keep him on the tag. KC can sign him to an extension. We sure as **** don't have to settle for a 2nd and a 4th.

Why would we take that?

So Tyreek Hill was not worth multiple firsts but Sneed is?

No one realistically thinks that Sneed is worth multiple firsts.

The myopia around here thinking they are going to get offered a 1st rounder for Sneed. It's mind-numbing.

For sure, but many have a hard time accepting what he's likely/reportedly worth.

I've been beat down several times but the fact is the teams have some leverage on him. *Not my opinion, just facts* Not an all pro, not a pro bowler, concussions, knee problem and teams will ask questions like is he as good without another all pro playing with him? His best season by far was this year when McDuffie really turned it up too.

I personally kind of lean towards paying him over Jones so don't shoot the messenger.
