Taking Joeckel or Fisher with intentions of either being a long term right tackle is throwing more bad money at bad money.

It would be a pick to try and offset Alex Smiths weakness of wanting to hold the ball too long. The guy took 44 sacks in 2011 behind one of the best lines in the NFL and dropping back to pass a small amount of time in comparison to other quarterbacks around the league.

I guess, though.

We are obviously in win now mode and Dorsey and Reids job going forward is to do their best to surround Alex with as many weapons as possible to help him succeed.

Lets just hope to God we find a way to move down and get their checklist filled.

He won't get that much.

I bet he signs for around 7-8.

Too many options in the draft and free agency...the supply is high.

O.city 03-09-2013 11:38 PM

I'd sign him for 7 to play rt

If the take joeckel and re up Albert it will feel like a wasted pick, but out future qbotf will need good protection.

Reading this post gave me a "Cassel Offseason 2009" flashback. How sad.

On the bright side, having Albert and Joeckel as bookend tackles should help give Smith plenty of time against any pass rushing duo in the league.

Yeah....because OTs that are drafted never fail.

ESPECIALLY ones that are required to make a position change.

Joeckel struggles with two things ...inside speed moves and power/strength.

Tell me that doesn't ask for disaster to move the guy to the right side...the side you want to be able to run behind.

Sweet Daddy Hate 03-10-2013 12:11 AM

I know the Chiefs are historically absurd, but drafting a "top prospect" OT and then switching his position as a first year starter will REALLY raise the bar for dipshittery.

Not if they can't reach a deal with Branden Albert.

BossChief 03-10-2013 12:13 AM

I'll laugh the first time Von Miller just destroys Joeckel if we draft him.

Luke will be begging Reid to leave Moeaki inline to help keep the edge while maintains inside leverage.

O.city 03-10-2013 12:14 AM

The chiefs are saying they want to lock up Albert long term but also saying they are high on joeckel.

I'd say there is some posturing there for either a trade down or a trade. I'm leaning more towards trade down and I bet they've already got an idea who said team is. Iirc bad guy said they like Allen at rt or something similar. His guys been pretty spot on so far so let's just see where it goes.

And if they do go ot at one for him to play or be the log term rt, it should be fisher.

So your plan is to draft a LT.....ask him to learn a new position in his rookie year and then switch back the year after that.

Dumb.

1. Were they drafted at 1.1?
2. Did they move back to LT after 1 year at RT?
