We wouldn't have taken that TE, we don't wait for TE's to fall to us.

Dequan Menzie S Bama
|
Menzie, De'Quan
|
WHAT?!?!?! OVER ALLEN AND ILOKA?! THIS IS MIND BOGGLING?!
|
Well.. We got a S but who the ****...
|
At least he came from a good school??????
|
Ok, learn me about Menzie...
|
ESPN has him listed as a CB.
|
I hate hate hate this pick.
I really do not like Menzie at all. But I go waaay against the grain on that. He will be a fairly popular pick. But I am not a fan. |
Theres the safety
|
I can live with that.
DeQuan Menzie, Alabama Looks like they're moving him to safety. |
We probably watched a shit ton of tape on him since we looked at Barron
|
STRENGTHS Menzie is a very instinctual corner who relies on his ability to anticipate the throw and break on the ball to disrupt passes. He is a strong player when working in tight space and can use his agility and foot quickness to stay on a receiver's hip. He is a strong player in zone and understands when to take chances and jump routes. He scans the entire field and helps when needed in these schemes. He never shies away from contact and is a productive tackler working from the outside-in.
WEAKNESSES Menzie is a solid all-around prospect who has fluid hips and athletic ability, which he relies on too heavily at times. He takes chances in man coverage that could hurt him at the next level. |

well there ya go a safety
|
There, a safety.
|
He'll play safety here -- he is not fast enough to play corner. But he's the immediate front runner to challenge Daniels for dime back responsibilities.
He's not very fast, and I feel like he was one of the players feeding off the abilities of the others in that Bama defense. |
Menzie has some hitches in his athletic ability that will make for a tough transition to the NFL. He is consistently around the ball, however, and making splash plays for the decorated Crimson Tide defense. He is the type of player whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts in terms of the type of player he will be on Sundays. He is a playmaker and savvy cover man who has second-round value.
|
reports list him as a CB

Can't believe the Saints put out a bounty on Cam -- How sad!
The Giants signed Saints DT Shaun Rogers for depth two days ago. I'm hoping that Rogers wasn't involved in all that bounty mess. |
Tank Carder to Bills

#Chiefs grab my top Slot CB, DeQuan Menzie. Love his physical play on the inside. Good short-area foot quickness. Avg. speed.

Meh
|
If his biggest weakness is that he takes chances in man coverage...I like the pick.

I guess the Chiefs are converting Menzie to saftey? Huh.

Sabby, GTFO

He played CB at Bama but will play safety here. Actually a really good fit, IMO, since we utilize 3 safeties and he can play both man & zone and has good cover skills. |
Damn good pick by the Chiefs. Menzie played corner but projects as a safety in the NFL. We play 3 safeties alot and one is normally a coverage guy. Here you go.
|
My God, I miss one season and the whole thing goes tits-up. Shame on me.

Chiefs passed on a chance to get another Greenwood on the team (Lions' pick)

Menzie #80 on Mayock's big board. Will be able to backup CB and S and play ST. Good value in the 5th round.
|
Notes:
Was a prep standout in Georgia before attending Copiah-Lincoln Community College (Miss.) for two years, where he recorded 40 tackles and six interceptions in 2008 and 51 tackles and one interception in 09 as a two-year starter. At Alabama, suffered a torn Achilles in April 10 but returned to start the season opener against San Jose State. Played in 12 games (six starts), in 10, recording 33 tackles, four pass breakups and zero interceptions with five tackles for loss and two sacks. Made two starts at RCB spot and four as a nickel back. Started all 13 games for the national champions in 11 and totaled 41-11-1 with four tackles for loss, 1 1⁄2 sacks. Returned his lone interception 25 yards for a TD against Arkansas. Suffered a left shoulder injury at the Senior Bowl and did not run at the Combine because of a strained right hamstring. Positives: Good size. Reads and reacts quickly. Very physical willing tackler who tries to square and wrap up ballcarriers. Aware in zone plays with his eyes and passes off receivers. Good ball reactions. Is versatile and has experience playing the slot. Is well-respected and possesses terrific character. Dependable producer. Negatives: Has short arms and small hands. Marginal speed and twitch for the cornerback position. Limited in man coverage loses ground at the break point and struggles to shadow more athletic receivers. Has a 33-inch vertical jump. Summary: Tough, competitive college cornerback who projects better to safety, where his physicality plays better. Might not have the juice to start, but could be a solid backup for a zone team and become a fourth safety and special-teams producer. Has make-it qualities and will find a way to contribute. Scouts have compared him to a poor mans version of Houston Texans starting SS Glover Quin. |

That guy the Titans jumped over us to take is a DE who sounds like he might play TE in the NFL.

Finally Pioli goes SEC on a pick in this draft. We need about 2 more for him to be right on average.

How was jail, ROR?

I wonder if NFLN knows that there are other divisions besides the NFC East?

So Audie Cole in the 6th?

Crennel? Really? Really? I mean, **** me...really? |

Anybody else thinking Vontaze in the 6th FTW?
I don't care how crazy he is, that is legit first round talent in the 6th round. I'm actively hoping for it. Oh, and everyone better be getting ready to root for Quinn. Cuz the QB dream of this year is ****ing dead. |

Jail was short and sweet. The path leading to it was long and full of misadventures. |
Burfict's problem isn't that he's crazy; it's that he's stupid.
