They're talking on 810 right now about Cassel not being able to throw an accurate deep ball.

They asked Haley if Cassel was the best QB in camp and Haley hesitated and said "I'm going to hold off on answering that for now"...

That was the knock on Cassel but even Brady sucked at throwing the deep ball early in his career.

810 is making it sound like Cassel is horrible.

Well after listening to Haley, I'd say we're getting closer to a QB controversy than we've ever been this offseason.

Clinksdale however just mentioned that Croyle was also horrible today.

Haley picks up. "Hello"
Scott Pioli is on the other end. "What the **** is wrong with you?"

No way Cassel doesn't start week 1. This has to be Haley trying to get the team motivated.

I think so. I think it could also be going through those dog days of camp when your arm is tired. Cassel has probably never had a workload like this and he may have even done too much throwing in the offseason and it could be affecting him.

Either way, it looks like everyone is struggling right now. Cassel is missing deep throws, Croyle is getting booted from practice, and Thigpen is hurt...

I'm just thrilled about the reports coming in on Succop!! Nice to have a kicker who can do the job. Hopefully he doesn't freeze up on us when its on the line.

Did you happen to listen to the podcast with Sirius Radio and Scott Pioli? One of the first questions was "Some are saying Tyson Jackson hasn't lived up to expectations and is a disappointment." After Pioli laughed at him, he kindly explained that the season hasn't even started.

Same for Cassel.

Near the end of that interview they ask Pioli specifically about Cassel. IIRC, Pioli says that was the intention of the trade and contract but every position is up for grabs. Best player starts basically.

The reports about the deep throws are becoming concerning too me. This seems to get mentioned in a disproportionate amount of camp reports. 810 said it wasn't just the deep ball but the far outs as well. I know KK is eager to stir up some kind of faux shit, but even other media outlets report it too.
