As I stated earlier, I think Wilson is a $17-$20 million dollar player. Anything beyond that is overpaying and he does not deserve to be paid as the highest QB in the league.

I vaguely recall a debate we had about Alex's worth on the open market. You said, unequivocally, Alex Smith would receive more than $17 mil per in FA.

How much do you think someone would pay for Russell Wilson?

Nope. Just normal negotiations. We haven't payed Houston yet. Is that an indication of what we think of him?

To add to these points further, we actually drafted a guy that could be viewed as Houston's replacement. He's technically Houston's backup at LOLB.

If you are making fun of me for stating Huard was a better QB for the Chiefs back in 06 than Trent Green, please, by all means check out his stat sheet and look at his QBR:

The question at hand isn't what he'd receive on the open market but what Seattle is willing to pay in order to retain him.

That said, there's no shortage of teams that would be willing to overpay for his services.

Seahawks last 2 drafts from 2013 and 2014 look pretty bad.

That's who they are relying on to replace star players they will be forced to let go in 2016.

Good luck

Gotcha. So he'll get the same excuses as Aaron Rodgers gets for not winning more playoff games, right?

yep, yep, yep

par for the course on this website

If Alex Smith threw two red zone interceptions in a game and Jamaal Charles averaged 6.0 YPC to save the day for a comeback win, there would be a dozen "Alex Smith sucks" threads on the front page.

Wait, I thought Wilson was a GOD. He'll win with a roster full of Mike McGlynn clones.

You cited FA market value in our debate over Smith's worth.

At any rate, his market value absolutely is the question. That's probably the main drum his agent is beating during these negotiations. There's no telling what a team like Houston or Cleveland would pay for a young, ascending, near-elite signal caller.

Keep in mind that Smith just signed an extension worth about $17 mil per year, Tannehill as well at about $19 mil per, and Newton at about $20 mil per.

and if we want to cherry pick a few games a year from Tom and Peyton in which they won despite not playing their best I'm sure we could and they've both been the best in the world at QB for a decade and a half

RunKC 06-24-2015 02:57 PM

Rodgers won a SB with 16 players put on injured reserve and a star player (Charles Woodson) injured before halftime of the SB.

Excuses?

LMAO

Hootie 06-24-2015 03:00 PM

he's gone 2-4 since winning the Super Bowl including losing to "the worst QB ever!!1111!" twice (Kaepernick) in the postseason

again

Aaron gets every excuse

No, his value in free agency is very different than his value to the Seahawks, obviously. Otherwise, he'd have been made a competitive Top Five offer by now.

What is the only reason not to lock up a supposed Franchise QB?

His defense played lights out that postseason. They only gave up an average of 19 PPG in four games, three of which were on the road and the final on a neutral field for the Super Bowl.
