So which is it?

Practice squad to develop players, or on the 53 man roster?

With the exception of a QB if you need to develop a player stick him on the practice squad.

Lilja didn't need that he should have been on the 53 man roster. When the Colts got him didn't he come in and start?

8. CARL NICKS, Nebraska (6-5, 341, 5.22, 2-5) - Described by Polian as "more of a road-grader type," Nicks has been to three schools and started at LT for one season only at Nebraska. "Whatever you can get, that's what he's got," one scout said. "He's lazy. Malcontent. Resistant to authority. Criminality. Divorced with kids. He transferred. Anything you would not want a guy to have, he has it all. Talented, but a mess." The best tackle at the Senior Bowl. "If he were Williams personality-wise or Long, he might be the best of them all other than Long," another scout said. Scored 18 on the Wonderlic. "He is talented, dude, but we're not going to touch him," a third scout said. "He's too smart for his own britches. He's not a professional. He'll always be on the edge."

For you Nicks supporters.

If the Chiefs go O-Line with their next pick and he's still there, Eric Young is a hell of a lot better pick than Nicks.

The Steelers do it again and get Tony Hills. Great pick.

That's the original problem!! They used the same website to write the pamphlet for the combine, and then the agent sent the info to all the teams that he isn't that old!

That's like the scouting report I read that said Frank Okam is to smart to be great...he got a 39 on his wonderlic a 4.0 at Texas and is going to law school....

He understands playing the way a DT should play will lead to injury, he's to smart for his own good.

CupidStunt 04-27-2008 11:26 AM

I think the Chiefs MIGHT look at interior OL here, maybe John Sullivan.

However, if they don't, I'm not gonna flip a lid.

Is "wants to go to Law School" really as bad a character flaw as "divorced with kids, criminality, grades" for Nicks?

At least with the oppostiion hanging all over him he could survive enough to get off a pass without tripping over his feet...and due to his height advantage he may be able to see down the field to find the open receivers.
