First round talent based on what?

Once in awhile, he puts a highlight reel lick on somebody. That's it. He has no concept of team defense. He is always out of place. He misses assignments. He whiffs on tackles a lot going for the big hit. And that's only scratching the surface of his issues.

Frosty 04-28-2012 12:50 PM

Oh, and everyone better be getting ready to root for Quinn. Cuz the QB dream of this year is ****ing dead.

If Burfict can get under a coach like Romeo that can push the right buttons and get the most out of his play, he can be a monster. Dennis Ericksons dumb ass did him no favors at ASU. I lived in Phx the past two years and got to see him play a lot...He flashes HUGE ability when he wants to. The guy is a total idiot...but so was Jar Jar Charles coming out.

Plus, this is one of my favorite football photos ever...

milkman 04-28-2012 12:56 PM

It's not everyday that a guy shows the kind of athletic ability to point a finger.

TimeForWasp 04-28-2012 12:59 PM

Just hope we can get him signed undrafted. He could add some excitement to the defensive mix. Someone to use as an example one way or the other.

tk13 04-28-2012 01:00 PM

I don't know why everyone gets so excited by Burfict. I'm not completely against guys with some character issues but when has someone as "out there" as Burfict ever worked out?

The guy is a slower, dumber Brian Cox.

Reaper16 04-28-2012 01:01 PM

I don't care about Burfict's character issues. I care about his inability to play football.

Strongside 04-28-2012 01:02 PM

Look, the guy may be out of place from time to time...but even with the mistakes, how many other LB's in the draft have tape that looks like this? Not many. All I'm saying is that if you can hone in on what he does best, the guy could really help us out. His form tackling is textbook, btw.

It's the size and big plays he's made, he has a role in the NFL just because of how big he is.

Mecca 04-28-2012 01:02 PM

It's also that Vontaze was a very heavily recruited high school player, people also remember that.

chiefs1111 04-28-2012 01:03 PM

Rainey to the Steelers

Strongside 04-28-2012 01:03 PM

Media is grilling the shit out of Washington for the Cousins pick...rightfully so.

Mecca 04-28-2012 01:04 PM

If Chris Rainey can get picked so can Burfict, Rainey is even more reeruned.

tk13 04-28-2012 01:04 PM

Is it me or does Stanford coach David Shaw look a lot like Giants GM Jerry Reese?

Pioli drafts who his HC wants.

Haley just drafted his Dex for the Steelers in Chris Rainey.

He might give them some say on a pick or 2, but all the linemen is all Pioli, he loves linemen.

Hm...ran a 4.55, 37" vertical. Rated 85.7 by Mayock, which is his 35th highest player overall and the 4th best CB. He's by far his highest rated player left. (Dennard)

Call me crazy, but I think Burfict fits the thumper role in our defense perfect. If he weren't such a crazy ass.

I figure we take Hannah somewhere with one of these last 3 picks.

Burfict, Hannah, S from South Carolina?

I think his craziness is what makes him perfect for it. We already have three fairly cool-headed guys at LB. Our defense needs a psychopath as a counter balance. While Tamba's bleeding on people Burfict can point at Peyton Manning and say "here we come, mother ****er."

I actually don't mind having a crazy bastard on defense somewhere. Just a nasty football player that isn't afraid to stick his nose in places.

However, when it starts costing the team it becomes a problem.

That's why I think a coach like Romeo is perfect for Burfict (see what I did there?) because he's a disciplinarian, but he's also a guy that you want to play hard for...which is something he didn't have at ASU. Erickson's track record is to let his players do whatever the **** they want on the field and off. If you've seen 'The U', you know what I mean.

Mecca 04-28-2012 01:24 PM

Burfict is just made to play the thumper role in this defense on top of that.

I don't have a problem with crazy. I do have a problem with with a player that will continually hurt your team by not playing smart football.

He is soft on players. He let the inmates run the asylum in Cleveland.

So what do you call him not starting Bowe against GB (I think that was the game) because he violated practice policy?

Strongside 04-28-2012 01:26 PM

And I'm not saying he's Bill Parcells, I'm saying he doesn't put up with bullshit.

tk13 04-28-2012 01:26 PM

I don't know if Crennel is right for Burfict or not.

I think the off the field issues aren't even the first concern. It's all the personal fouls and stupid things he did on the field... plus he is out there just trying to lay big hits. He's not necessarily good at diagnosing plays or staying within the defense. That doesn't fly in the NFL. And then you go into the issues off the field and his combine interviews and whatnot.

chiefs1111 04-28-2012 01:27 PM

I just texted a friend of mine down in Alabama. He went to Alabama and is a BIG football fan. He tells me the Chiefs got a steal in the 5th. He said the guy is a really good football player. Only knock on him was his speed but he can't remember the guy ever getting burned.

Which is why you use him as a run down thumper and basically tell him to destroy the guard in front of him, and he's big enough to do that.

There's a difference between making a call on necessary discipline and being a disciplinarian.

As children, you usually have your mom, who is understanding and caring, who disciplines children as necessary.

But dad is the disciplinarian.

Romeo Crennel is mom.
