Winning!

Did the people saying this actually watch the game or just the highlights on sportscenter? Geno took them about 35 yards in less than 30 seconds with no timeouts for them to even to be in a position for a penalty to matter AND even at that they were only about 10 yards away from field goal position with 7 seconds left and the clock stopped. It was far from a foregone conclusion that they weren't going to win that game even without the penalty, but please ignore reality and continue with the talking points. Thanks.

Also is that's Peyton Manning running that penalty doesn't happen because the defender isn't flying over there out of control to stop a 4.5/40 guy from gaining more yards. That's what speed do.

Winning!

Geno Smith's sole loss is to a team that is much better than any the Chiefs have faced so far.

The Jets have played a tougher schedule, with Tampa and Jacksonville being equally terrible, and Buffalo being very comparable - so far at least - to the Eagle and Cowboys (All mediocre/middle-of-pack squads).

Didn't the Giants put 400 + yards passing on them? The same Giants that the Panthers shut out?

Minus the 2 turnovers, he's having a good game?

Eleazar 09-29-2013 03:17 PM

Jets are on here. Only two first-half turnovers for Geno. He threw an interception on his first pass attempt, and he lost a fumble whilst scrambling which resulted in the Titans' second touchdown.

LOL, Alex Smith would have killed to have guys like Santonio Holmes and Kellen Winslow, he was throwing to guys named Arnaz Battle and didn't have any sort of defense to speak of backing him up. Is the Jets situation ideal? No, is it far better than other rookie QB's have dealt with? Hell yes.

Yeah because that tells the whole story. One won big, the other padded his stats as his team was getting blown out, contributing directly to 3 Titans touchdowns. Geno Smith was Tennessee's most valuable player by far today.

Molitoth 09-29-2013 05:33 PM

That's just what I see watching the gif. It was going to be stripped either way due to lack of good decision making by geno in the first place, but trying to get it in his other hand was the only move that looked possible there.

Peyton Manning lost games and played poorly early in his career. Therefore, every QB that starts out shitty is great. Also...every QB that starts out better than shitty is great.

This post makes no sense at all. I mean if you all want to start making bets with me that Geno is going to have a better career than Peyton Manning 15 years from now, be my guest. You're going to lose. You don't have to be an NFL guru to know that most QBs are not given the control of the offense Peyton Manning is. Using him as the comparison is setting yourself up for failure.

The only guy seriously in this discussion is Andrew Luck... which is sad because he gets glossed over for guys like Kaepernick and Wilson and Geno. But even Bruce Arians said Luck did more his rookie season than Manning did. And I think he might be better at the same point in his career than Manning. Long way to go though.

I'm not comparing him to Peyton.

Just illustrating how the first few games of a quarterbacks career mean much less than some might think.

10 turnovers in 4 games is a staggering total, but you can't make it more than it is.

He has had flashes of brilliance and stretches of cluelessness...how he works through it is what will make him a 13 year starter or out of the league in 5.

Hammock Parties 09-29-2013 06:18 PM

Sad what has happened to the Jets.

tk13 09-29-2013 06:18 PM

Actually Geno has 11 turnovers. He's on pace for 44. Which is terrible.

I'd agree it's not the end of the world yet... but just because Peyton Manning did it doesn't mean Geno will. It literally has 0% relevance.
