Not worth its own thread at this point, but Talking Dead host Hardwick bitchslapped with a #metoo letter from ex Chloe Dykstra
https://medium.com/@skydart/rose-col...s-6be0594970ca No rape or assault [well?] or harassment, just some seriously pathological controlling behavior. Must be home in the evening because that's when he has free time for her No photos of male friends in her home Must stop all drinking blackballed her in the industry after breakup . . . made clear his expectation she be available for sex, including asking her doctor immediately after her miscarriage how soon she would be 'available' - in front of her mother. Should be interesting. |

This stuff is getting ridiculous. |

She addresses her own part in the matter, and why she didn't make different decisions. No one is going to jail, or even getting investigated over this. It's just a PR hit for the image he portrays and the community he strives to thrive in. And finally, I'm not advocating or criticizing it. I'm reporting it. |
Quote:
You may have misinterpreted my post as your response has nothing to do with what I said. My point was that #metoo is entering the territory of the ridiculous. As proven in this case as they have now kicked the guy off his AMC show and comic-con because the woman made some allegations. That’s all. No proof, no trial, no hearing his side of the story, nothing but some words out of her mouth. |
Quote:
And Hardwick volunteered to take himself off the Cons as well. There's a couple things that make this unique, and different from the 'ridiculization' of #metoo. First off, nothing about this involves criminal liability Second, Hardwick's entire value is his persona. He lives and dies by being a good guy who people want to hear chat with other celebs. Finally, this isn't a final word, but the first steps of an investigation. Its a little unseemly that people air dirty laundry nowadays. But it's also a little unseemly that someone as devoid of other talents as Hardwick otherwise can rise to prominence simply by cultivating a good guy image. If his image can survive tarnishing, than he is entitled to continue to earn. But if his image is a fabrication, people close to him are entitled to share how it hurt them, and the audience is entitled to know what those people would like them to know. As to whether my post was responsive to yours. You said 'why didn't she leave.' I pointed out that she addressed this directly. Now you ask 'where is the evidence?' And AGAIN, the article mentions the evidence she is presently holding in abeyance until such time it is needed or demanded. EDIT: One fairly dispositive point I missed addressing directly, but which goes to the nature of Hardwick's fame and fortune. Apparently a part of AMC's decision to hiatus is that all the guests scheduled to appear 1-1 in coming weeks weighed in that 'maybe this isn't the best time' for them to appear on his show. Kind of hard to do a 1-1 show when 1 of the 1 has a cloud over him and the other 1 of the 1 isn't comfortable appearing. |

Jon Bernthal returning for 1 episode in s9...assuming this is when Rick dies or some flashback. Still sucks that Lincoln is leaving |
So everyone by now knows Shane is coming back, but to what capacity is still up in the air.
I read a crazy theory today that went like: Shane actually killed Rick in the woods......and from a place of massive delusion, he "became" Rick....even thinking he heard "Rick" and "Dad" when addressed as Shane. "Rick's" character arcs (calm to killer to pacifist to killer) could somewhat be explainable with this theory. AMC has somewhat already jumped the shark with TWD - but as nuts as this might sound, given the past 3 seasons, is it really too crazy to think it's within the realm of possibility? |
Would be a cheap ploy that would piss off fans.

That full trailer looked really good. Maybe they pull out all the stops for Andrew Lincoln...the whisperers are coming.

I honestly think they're going to figure a way for Rick to "go away".....so that he can come back a few years later if he so desires.
Could be wrong - but maybe he just needs some time off. That said, will be interesting if WD makes it another 2-4 seasons without Rick at the helm. |
I'm having a hard time getting even remotely interested in the upcoming season.

I hope they don't kill Rick off. Maybe after some time off they can talk him into coming back. That being said, with it looking more and more like they are about to combine the two shows (TWD and FearTWD), I could see them killing off a bunch of people in the coming year.
|
I just don’t know how else they can pull it off other by killing him. Rick would never leave Judith or Michonne behind. Even if he was hurt or taken away he wouldn’t let months or years go by without getting back to them.

Too bad they killed off Carl in that ratings stunt. He would allow for some semblance of continuity with the source material.

They can probably kill off a LOT of characters this year since it looks like the two shows (FEAR and TWD) are going to be combined after next season. If they don't "kill" Rick, maybe he will come across the FEAR crew on their way to Virginia and return with them after a season off (realizing that he (Andy Lincoln) can't find a better job), but I doubt it. His daughter throws a monkey wrench into that plan though. Any scenario, other than Rick dying, will be bogus if he doesn't take his daughter with him.....but that just isn't a Rick move....so I don't know.....Oooh, maybe he'll do something that goes against the new "laws" they set forth for the community and have to banish himself, maybe that could explain his daughter being left behind....sorry, just thinking out loud.
|
I think I'm almost more intrigued now that AL is leaving and what happens to Rick...but I still think this show can't last without him and Rick.
|
Alot of great things to say about Andrew Lincoln. Looks like he's a mainly leaving for family.
@EW: Goodbye, Andy! @WalkingDead_AMC actors past and present write tributes to Andrew Lincoln #TheWalkingDead http://share.ew.com/Zmv9wIi |
I just don't understand the geography in FTWD. Isn't mile marker 54 in Texas somewhere? Isn't the gas station they all went to in Mississippi? They just seemed to go back and forth between those 2 locations like it's only a half hour away. Even if you assume they are in the easternmost town in Texas and the westernmost town in Mississippi, it's still over a 4 hour drive.
And how they all constantly run into each other and find each other is amazing. I know I know...it's a tv show. But damn they really don't handle geography well on this show. Now they brought in magical walkie talkies for everyone to have in order to address that issue I guess. |
I gave up on TWD. Last season I didn't even bother with the last 2 episodes. Seems like the shows writing got so damn lazy it was pissing me off. I don't even think I'll be back when it comes back on either. It's too bad, show had a helluva run for about 4 or 5 seasons.

Actually liked last night's episode and if they continue with the theme of the different communities struggling and the in fighting, strife, and conflict it causes....I'm in.
Just wondering how long they can hold out before going to the next big baddie.... |

A little more human drama and political intrigue last night. Thought the Gregory vs. Maggie thing would have been drawn out a bit more that it was.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz introduce the goddamn whisperers PRONTO |
My expectations might be lowered from seasons 7-8, but I thought the S9 premiere was pretty good. Once there is relative peace, it's natural that the conflict would be more internal than external (for now). And some people may have forgotten, but even the peak of TWD wasn't nonstop action, the search for Sophie was a lot of people arguing about how to act in this new society. It just got tired and slow by the time Negan got involved.
I was pretty shocked they went through with the Gregory thing at the end. |
I finally got to watch it today. On first watch. Hated it. What they finally did to Gregory was finally. The highlight if the episode.
|
So they had to go to a museum (with a glass floor over a pit of zombies no less) to get a ****ing plow and a wagon from the 1800's? Oh, let's not forget the ANCIENT Indian dugout canoe.

I could believe the wagon if they had to rely solely on horses due to gasoline going bad and no more cars. But this universe hasn't done well to make that an issue. |

Pretty encouraging so far. I thought last nights episode was one of the better ones in awhile. Liking what they’ve done with Daryl especially.
|
Spoiler!
|
It looks to me like they might bring in The Whisperers and The Commonwealth at the same time.
|
I read an article today that blasted AMC and their marketing department for actively advertising the fact that these are the last episodes for Rick Grimes.
The writer was absolutely correct. It's a slow-drip towards the inevitable this season. And while it has been better than the past 2 seasons (so far), everyone knows the end is near. In my humble opinion, they really needed to introduce a brand new conflict 2-3 seasons ago to maintain momentum (instead of the continuous "who's the next group of bland people we have to go to war against?). I'm not sure what that clever conflict would be, but something fresh was needed. |
2nd episode still crap. Lowest rating every. Fell asleep twice on 2 different days, trying to watch the full episode.
