Literally one of the poorest examples of "journalism" I've ever seen. What a complete fool this guy is. Of note is that of the few people that have bothered to comment on this "article", they all rip this idiot.

He built his entire column -- an indictment of the Royals -- on one thinly sourced piece from a New York paper about something that hasn't even happened yet.

The Royals had a 5 run lead in the clincher. If we planned on beaning someone in retaliation, we had the opportunity to send the biggest '**** you' in history. We didn't, and we won't.

Sources: Royals seek payback for Noah Syndergaard pitch in World Series

Updated*March 29, 2016 11:12 AM
By*Marc Carig***[email protected]

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Perhaps it is nothing more than mind games, a ploy for intimidation. But multiple industry sources told Newsday that the Royals have been signaling their intent to seek retribution against the Mets on Opening Night.

It has been five months since Mets fireballerNoah Syndergaard added some spice to the World Series, when he fired a fastball well over the head of pesky leadoff man Alcides Escobar to begin Game 3, the only contest won by the Mets.

But apparently, neither time nor a world championship has quelled the lingering anger over the pitch, which*Syndergaard maintained was part of a plan*to establish the inner half of the plate.

The Mets open the regular season on Sunday night in Kansas City against the Royals.

Even if the Royals’ rhetoric turns out to be empty talk, the message has reached Mets officials though had yet to filter into the clubhouse.

Of course, a plunking in the name of revenge wouldn’t be out of the ordinary in such situations, especially since Syndergaard has embraced the furor that came in its aftermath. For instance, Syndergaard allegedly told Salvador Perez and other Royals players during Game 3 that the pitch had simply gotten away from him.

“I don’t remember saying that,” Syndergaard said this week.

The Mets are expected on Tuesday to announce their starter for the second game of the season-opening series against the Royals. And Syndergaard is likely to get the ball.

Jerok 03-29-2016 05:24 PM

Mets forum has a thread about the retaliation.

http://www.metsrefugees.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=118035

I read all the comments, only 1 of them seemed reasonable. The rest were 100% into the story, 'screw the royals and their shitbag fans' and they hate the idea of the video the Royals are going to show.

Regarding the video, I can honestly see the organization putting together a great video for the Mets, in an honest, feel-good sort of way, of course New Yorker's would never believe that lol.

Sure-Oz 03-29-2016 05:51 PM

I saw some mets fans on Twitter saying it's a bs article but most just got pissed. Dieter trying too hard.

During the ALDS game 4: Some dude on Reddit.

Our father who art in our bullpen, Wader be thy name. Your fastball come, they will be done, in Kauffman as it is in Houston. Give us this day your daily 1-2-3 (4-5-6), and forgive them for their bad calls, as we have forgiven Rios. And lead us not into an early off-season, but deliver us to the World Series. Amen.

Ventura getting shelled vs. the Giants. 8 runs in 2 innings (went 1-2-3 in the first), including a MONSTER three run bomb to center.

Man, what happened to Ventura yesterday? I watched some chode homer off of him like 580 to deep center. I don't know why I'm even asking, it's spring training. Ventura probably still just trying stuff but usually the only games that really mean anything at all our the last few.

He was throwing pretty much nothing but fastballs. They had Dave Eiland on the broadcast and he was saying that his mechanics were a bit out of whack causing him to leave pitches up. He said it was easily correctable.

Yeah, he struck out three in 2 innings on the fastball, painting the corner a couple times. Then they were sitting dead red on him and did their damage.

Do these idiot writers not understand- that the Royals winning the World Series- then putting up the World Champ flag and getting their rings in front of the Mets, is enough retaliation in response to Shyttergard's lame attempt at bravado?

gblowfish 03-30-2016 12:14 PM

If the Royals want to retaliate, they'd do it in June when they play the Mets in NYC, and wait for Syndie to bat. That's where you get retribution. No sense for Eddie to buzz one over Granderson's head. Neither of them had anything to do with any of this.

Good JoPo piece, with Dayton Moore pointing to five moves that have made the difference:

What Do the Royals Know?

Quote:

So the question: When will teams start copying the Kansas City Royals?

And: How would they even go about doing that?

Right now, when you talk to people around baseball, you just don’t hear much about the Royals, even if they are defending World Series champions and two-time defending American League champs and all that. Everyone is respectful. Everyone praises the Royals’ defense and their bullpen and their spirit. But few people around baseball seem to see the Royals as a blueprint for success: They won those back-to-back pennants without great starting pitching, they won it while hitting the fewest home runs and drawing the fewest walks in the league, they won it with almost-impossible-to-believe late-inning comebacks.

Nobody I’ve talked with uses the word “luck.” But almost everybody dances perilously around the word.

“I do wonder,” one baseball executive told me, “when people around the game will figure out that maybe the Kansas City Royals know something that we don’t.”

I would guess that team chemistry, which is hard to replicate, is a big factor in the Royals success. Yes I am fully aware that "chemistry" is a running joke in the stats community, along with scrappiness and clogging the bases. However I suspect part of that derision is because chemistry is impossible to quantify.

I work right now in a situation where out of 70 people everyone genuinely likes each other, and there isn't one snake in the grass. Most days it doesn't even feel like going to work. It feels like going to work on cool stuff with your friends. When new tasks come up everyone doesn't try to get out of it. Someone steps up pretty quick and takes it on.

You cannot put a price on how much more productivity our bosses get out of us due to our unwillingness to let each other down.

I feel like great team chemistry is one of those things like great team defense, that is bigger than the sum of its parts. You can just feel it that these guys never think they're out of a game and no one is swinging for the 3-run homer with 2 strikes in a spot where we desperately just need contact, etc.

The other big hard to quantify factor is the confidence imo a great bullpen infuses into a team. It's like the other team is playing a full game and we only have to play 2/3 of a game. Just get to the 7th with a lead. If we can feel it this strongly as fans, imagine how much the players feel it.

Back in 2003, the last time we were at all competitive, we had the exact opposite situation. Once MacDougal went down, the BP was constantly giving up heartbreaking losses. That absolutely has to tear you to shreds inside, even professional ballplayers but especially a young team. And as a result certainly players will start pressing to try build insurmountable leads.

  11. Moose homers in the 11th of 2014 ALDS game 1

How about Davis getting Donaldson to groundout to Moose to win the 2015 ALCS?

Maybe it's Colon's SB in the WC game. But I thought he already did that. Ok yeah he did - #74.

Davis striking Flores out to win World Series

suzzer99 03-31-2016 02:51 PM

Yeah maybe that's it. I feel like I saw that one already though.

Not yet. I've been following this entire thread. I'm BMJ on the comment section. He has not put that moment up yet so you'll see that tomorrow with the other 4 you're correctly predicting.

Salvy Wild Card will be number 1. There's no other moment which beats that

jbwm89 03-31-2016 03:03 PM

He said on 810 today # 1 is Davis striking out Flores.

suzzer99 03-31-2016 03:13 PM

Yeah I mean it all depends on what criteria you use. And since it's Rany's list and he's doing all the work, he can use whatever criteria he wants.

But in terms of sheer emotional impact it has to be Salvy's hit.

My top 10 Royals plays of all time in terms of emotional impact:
  1. Dane Iorg
  2. Salvy's hit
  3. Hos's Dash
  4. Gordon's HR
  5. Brett's 3 run homer in 1980
  6. Kendrys off Correa
  7. Cain's dash
  8. Motley's 2 run homer, after hitting one just foul, in game 7
  9. Donaldson's ground out to end the ALCS
  10. Sundberg's triple off the top of the wall in the 1985 ALCS

Jerok 03-31-2016 03:27 PM

I predict: "Dyson scores from second on a wild pitch in the 2016 World Series game 7 walkoff victory"

ChiefsCountry 03-31-2016 03:33 PM

My drunkest moment was when Davis struck out Flores. Chugged a whole bottle of wine right after and called all of my lifetime Royals fans. Glorious night.

Jerok 03-31-2016 03:36 PM

The biggest moments in terms of me screaming loudly are:

1. Hosmer's Mad Dash WS 2015 game 5
2. Gordon HR WS 2015 game 1
3. Gordon triple in bottom of 9th World Series 2014.

Because they were so unexpected and instantly filled me with hope (2 of 3 worked!)
Also Morales off Correa and Salvy hit for the win in 2014 WC.

The other memorable moments aren't single at bats, but innings.

ALDS game 4 entire top 8th inning, comeback from 6 to 2.
Wildcard 8+9, comeback from 6 to 2.
ALCS 2015 game 2 7th inning against David Price, comeback from 3 to 0.

I screamed after Wade Davis struck him out, but being 7 to 2 with Wadebot out there, it wasn't 100% tense, but going outside in the middle of November to a firework filled sky was a moment I'll never forget.

How about the ball that dropped in front of Bautista?

ChiefsandOsFan pulled the same shit in 14. I mean, to the T.

I think there is an uncomfortably high probability that he killed himself after the Royals swept them.

Nope, he and Bricks both still post here.

Surprisingly.
