All that was really accomplished today was that if we should draft Geno he will have a grace period of one mistake before the haters will be out in full force.

It's kind of sad really.

People didnt want Matt Ryan for the same reasons they are confused about the QB situation today. Because he didn't do enough at critical moments to separate himself from the pack.

The Matt Ryan example, imo, is even more reason to draft a guy like Geno. Just because a QB doesn't separate himself doesn't mean he isn't worth taking.

The reason people are down on Geno today is because people were hoping he would separate himself today as the clear favorite. That didn't happen, leaving more confusion and debate.

I respect that. As previously stated, I hope we get Geno.

What about Geno's ability to audible?

You have to live and die with the system. You can't point to Smith's gaudy stats and say you should draft him because of his completion %, TD to INT ratio and then blame the very same system when he has a bad game.

Haters will never go away, period. I would rather draft Smith and see him be the biggest bust in the world, than pass on taking a QB again.

How did Geno do...? How did Nassib do?

Neither looked good.

Syracuse running game looked incredible due to WV inept defense.

That inept defense kept WV in the game for the first half.

Leadership and "it" factor. Something Geno hasn't shown.

he audibled on several occasions into good plays, including the first touchdown and the touchdown called back for holding (i think)...

the announcers mentioned it several times

Smith looked like complete crap. 2 safeties and a missed center exchange on a 4th and 1. Most of his yards came from screens (1 was a nice audible after reading the D) and he had one long TD pass where the WR got away with a push off and the Syracuse defender fell while in single coverage. He didn't really go downfield that much. Weather conditions sucked which played a part.

Center was playing his first game since the 2009 season, so...

He didn't throw ONE 70 yard deep out....PASS

RunKC 12-29-2012 08:13 PM

Fun fact..

Before today: Tavon Austin picked up 909 of his 1266 receiving yards after the catch (71.8% of his total receiving yards) and Stedman Bailey picked up 553 of his 1501 receiving yards after the catch (36.8% of his total receiving yards)

These two players account for 69.1% of Geno Smith's passing yards.
