Looks like Chase's daddy taught him how to race! He gave up the lead to Harvick. I'm impressed - Kid was running down on the bottom.

1. Kevin Harvick
2. Chase Elliott
3. Kyle Busch
4. Kyle Larson
5. Matt Kenseth

Caution, Caution is out

Wow....Damage to quite a few cars

Edit: Chase back to the lead - so far, leading 34 of 70 laps.

These guys are racing 4-wide

Edit: Caution #4 is out

Edit: Caution

edit: Caution

Dylan 04-11-2014 07:41 PM

Hell of a race!!

1. Kyle Busch
2. Chase Elliott
3. Kyle Larson

Edit: Caution with 7 laps to go (15 cars on the lead lap)

1. Kyle Busch
2. Chase Elliott
3. Matt Kenseth
4. Kevin Harvick
5. Kyle Larson

Edit: Leaders coming in for 4-tires. Sadler wins race out of the pits. Larson and Chase take just two tires.

Final Laps: Elliott makes Darlington History with the first last lap pass for the win

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/jBgzJJZMN1E?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The 18-year-old Nationwide Series rookie conquers one of NASCAR’s most difficult tracks in his first try.

The Lady in Black – a.k.a. Darlington Raceway – hates almost everybody. That’s why so many of NASCAR’s best over the last five decades have been brought to their knees by her icy demeanor. But at the same time, she has been known to have her favorites, just like she did with young Chase Elliott in Friday’s Nationwide Series race.

Kyle Busch led by 1.5 seconds and was seemingly cruising to victory until Tanner Berryhill's spin forced a final restart and sent the field diving into the pits for a final shootout. Elliott Sadler moved from eighth to first after the stop by taking just two tires while Elliott was among the competitors who changed four tires.

Elliott charged hard on the restart and was right in back of Sadler on the final lap. When Sadler got loose — Sadler said the two didn't touch, although they surely came close — Elliott was able to move past him and take the checkered flag.

"Man, that was crazy," Elliott said.

Then again, it's been a crazy time for latest Elliott to conquer the track "Too Tough To Tame."

His father won here five times and earned the nickname "Million Dollar Bill" when his Southern 500 win earned him the Winston Million bonus in 1985.

Did he touch him before that final pass or just get him aero-loose?

Aero loose

From the video above - The last two laps:
High Line .... Low Line
#11 Elliott Sadler .... #42 Kyle Larson
#20 Matt Kenseth .... #54 Kyle Busch
#9 Chase Elliott .... #5 Kevin Harvick
#22 Joey Logano .... #7 Regan Smith

0:24 - Amazing move Elliott puts on Busch to second coming to the white flag
0:49 - Unbelievable pass Elliott puts on Sadler to win the race - He was making moves like that all night on NASCAR's Cup drivers.

An excerpt from Ed Hinton, reporter covering NASCAR for ESPN.com:
Quote:

This makes the 40th year I have come here covering races. Never have I seen anyone drive old Darlington Raceway better than Chase Elliott did Friday night.

Not David Pearson, the all-time winner here with 10 victories; not Dale Earnhardt with nine; not Jeff Gordon with seven; not Bobby Allison nor Bill Elliott (Chase's father) nor Darrell Waltrip nor Cale Yarborough, the five-time winners here.

Electrifying. Breathtaking. Dumbfounding. All those words are inadequate for the sight of the 18-year-old from Dawsonville, Ga., putting a race car breezily, easily into places you're not supposed to be able to go on this track, and not just getting away with it but making it look effortless.

Chase is the real deal. I've watched a lot of his races down south here, when he was being groomed. In december he raced in the snowball derby in pensacola florida. This race is like the superbowl of short track racing. Champions from many race divisions from across the country come to this race. In the 20+ years of going to this race, I have never seen anyone put on a clinic on the field like he did.

Then that's good news for the sport. Many of us folks saw Jeff change the sport, then brought Jimmy into it, and Jimmy's better than Jeff ever way, and with the talent that's out there now, this sport has a lot of up-side...

Pepe Silvia 04-12-2014 04:50 PM

And we're off.

One has to wonder if Jeff "I Only Race in Cup Races (but don't know why I can't win anymore)" Gordon has a chance.

danny, that had to be exciting to see.

Watching Chase race in Darlington last night, did it for me. To be able to race as he did at this track was shocking - This kid is going to be a superstar. (God willing)

Someone here was a huge Bill Elliott fan - I cannot remember who said it, because this would be the perfect time to start following his son.

FYI: Chase missed his high school prom Friday night to race in Darlington. LOL
