I'll accept that. I don't consider what Berry currently has to be an actual injury. It might just be semantics, but this is more of an ongoing condition that he can choose to play through if he can stomach the pain. For $15 million a year he better damn well be in crutches or a wheelchair for me to believe he shouldn't be pushing through the pain.

It's an interesting line to walk, for sure.

I mean, who didn't have a coach growing up who said something along the lines of "are you hurt, or are you injured?"

We knew damn sure what he meant.

Is Eric Berry hurt or is he injured? I'm not sure the needle is pushed nearly as far towards 'injured' as some will claim.

I'm right there with you. I stopped crying for Professional Athletes a LONG time ago. They are getting paid to play - injured or not. You have a short time to make money, and we have an even shorter time for that return on investment. Get your ass out there or get gone.

My dad always used to tell me that I had to "know the difference between pain and injury".

I get what people are saying, but if you've ever played "hurt" you know you're not at 100%...and in the NFL the line is so fine between a great player and an average one I don't know how effective Berry would be if he returned in a diminished condition.

Hammock Parties 10-18-2018 10:42 AM

what if berry has secretly had surgery and is recovering and the team doesn't want anyone to know so when he's suddenly ready for a game it's a huge surprise?

I'm not sure he could be much worse than the 40+ points of defense we are running out there currently.........

I'm sure he probably wouldn't be any worse...but I'm looking for better and I'd rather not risk future, prolonged injury.

At this point in time I question how effective Berry would be even if he did return. He hasn't played for a year and a half now; he's far from being able to "just step in and play" IMO.

My 4 year old was 3 at the time and she was running around on the concrete at a park or something, fell down and slid on her hands. I'm sure it hurt like hell. She popped up with that "the reaction to this will determine how I respond" expression and I just instinctively said "Are you hurt or are you injured?"

My wife slapped me upside the head and went to pick the kid up, who promptly started crying.

I still think I was right...

Yea I am sure Berry, an athlete his entire life and All Pro caliber player doesn't know the difference.

Most of you guys would pull a hamstring getting off the couch too fast and you are questioning Berry's toughness.

I cant believe you guys think the guy could be out there and he just isn't doing it because he isn't tough enough or doesn't have the heart.

This is the epitome of internet message board warrior nonsense.

I do ever so love your steadfast insistence on disparaging everyone who deigns besmirch the good name of a guy who hasn't done shit for this team in 14 months.

You're right, we're all just jealous fatasses who've never experienced pain.

Jesus you're simple. Oh wait, that's not right. You're simply enlightened.

Nice take, Soren.
