Should have been playing the young guys all along. |
Gordo continuing that push to .250 with 3 hits today.

Re: trading Merrifield, his value has to be similar to Adam Eaton’s when the White Sox moved him. Whit is older but the years of control are the same, and he’s cheaper.
That means a top 25 prospect and a top 50 prospect are the asking price. |

I think the Adam Eaton trade is a good call. Merrifield might be slightly older, but he's way more versatile. He can play every position on the field. He also hits for more power, steals more bases and hits for a better average.
If you're giving up 4 years of that for 6 of someone else you better get 2, if not 3, really solid prospects. Honestly I'd want three. You're giving up 4 years of a guy who can hit 40 doubles, 20 HR and 30 SB while hitting for a .300 average. |

I read that The Royals will lose 16 mil this season. Hard to imagine the class family not trimming the salary going forward.

Although relievers aren't worth as much and volatile, the Padres traded Brad Hand (who has two years of control+an option year) and Adam Cimber (5.5 years of control) for Mejia after he had slipped down to the 21st rated prospect at midseason. That's 8.5 years of control for a catcher with real concerns about staying behind the plate. |

Getting a team to pay the price the Royals would need to move Merrifield will absolutely be a challenge.
You have to find the partner that NEEDS him. And that might not exist. But the price should also absolutely be in the neighborhood of what the Nats got for Eaton or what the Marlins got for Christian Yelich. |
If prospect values are through the roof, just keep Whit.
Four years of control. I know if you’re going to suck, then go all out, but it really helps the rebuild process to have at least one sturdy, dependable vet who does it all. |
Watching a bit of the first game of this Cubs/Brewers series, it's been a playoff type game. Was watching the 9th inning, Royals all over the field. Zobrist was at the plate, Jeffress on the mound, Moose and Cain on defense and Terrance Gore was pinch running for the Cubs.

O'Hearn has a shot to out homer Hosmer this season.

Brewers win!!!!!! |
Holy crap. Again. O'Hearn is a monster. Him and Dozier are locked in right now.
|
It is nice to see Ohearn and Dozier look like they have seen a salad bar and weight room. Moose and Butler could ball but they looked like shit. y

Um, I think first base is locked up for next year.

And now Dozier with an absolute bomb. Our infielders are on fire.

The Royals are now the only team in baseball to score five runs or more in 9 straight games this year. Baseball.

Why was Ian Kennedy allowed into the Whit dogpile sat PM? Why didn't they shove him back towards the dugout, he's contributed jack squat
|
It’s probably short lived, but man O’Hearn can hit the long ball. Here’s to hoping the bullpen forget they’re the Royals and don’t screw up a 5-0 gem by Junis.

There it is. Encouraging game for the future today.

Junis is pitching well too. Over his last 6 starts:
3-1 record, 38 IP, 30 H, 5 BB, 39 K, 1.89 ERA |

Meanwhile, in former Royal now Padre news today.
Wil Myers trashed talked his manager (Andy Green) on a live video game stream for making the team do extra defensive drills last night, and there's rumors Eric Hosmer got in a screaming match with Andy in the locker room recently. |

Padres fans are very frustrated with Wil, apparently the defensive practice was made after he made three errors in one game. He’s developed a reputation of getting “bored” and taking multiple games off per season. Fans were hoping he’d blossom into a “team leader” with his 80m deal. But he’s openly said he’s not that type of player (leading in large part to Hos’ deal). |
Is the TV contract renewal this offseason? If so finishing strong with a lot of promising young players could help.

Bullshit - that's just posturing. No one believes that.
Studies show... just about anything. Is beef good or bad for me in 2018? I forget. |
The TV contract runs out after next year. There's been reports that negotiations for a new one have started happening but nothing concrete yet. I imagine the benefits will kick in after next year. But I also think that's a huge reason why Dayton keeps trying to put out the idea that they're planning to compete next year. They don't want to go into multi million dollar negotiations saying "oh yeah! we're not going to compete until 2021!"

Hey **** you Andy - when was he last Dodgers WS win? How's being a small fish in a big pond working out for you?
|
Hmmm . . . . .
Royals go to game 7 in 2014 W.S. and lose. (29 years after last W.S. Title) Dodgers repeat the Royals feat in 2017. (also 29 years after their last W.S. Title) In 2015, Royals return and win it all. Your move, Dodgers . . . . . . |
|
BUT LEADERSHIP AND STUFF!!!!
|
The ROYALS are peaking at just the right time making a run for a wildcard spot. Stay tuned. :Royals:
|
Whit has been worth 68.8m to the Royals, has made 1.5m
Ian Kennedy has been worth 14.9m. Paid 37m, with another 33m to go Question: how does Whit even look at this guy in the locker room? Doesn't he just want to viciously beat his ass? It's so unfair |
Hosmer is such a douche

Dec 2017. Ahem:
Ain't about the DUI, it's the elbow. He had TJ in June 2012, and the average recurrence is 4.97 years later. He just passed that date. His 5/65 was heavily backloaded too. He got 5 this year, with 4/60 left. Given his TJ risk and heavy salary, he's a great bet to be dead money in the future. __________________ This latest murder in no way represents Islam. http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...&postcount=261 |
Alcides Escobar hits like a National League pitcher, isn’t that fast anymore, and now isn’t a great fielder.
Legacy completely killed, which is unfortunate. |
Also, Ned is an inept piece of shit. Keller had a 7 inning gem but of course Ned throws him out for the 8th when he’s clearly done. Nice job ruining an otherwise beautiful start.
|
So I guess Keller is about 20 innings shy of being eligible for the leader board or he would be a top 8 guy in the AL in ERA. Well done, Dayton.
|
Since the team is in the red again my guess is they try and dump Duffy. Might be a good call with his health concerns and drug abuse issues.
