I was originally considering Jennings for the Giants, but it's largely the same problem, and he didn't bring enough of a unique skillset to warrant a pick (he's a poor man's LJ -- well, at this point in LJ's career, he is LJ).
Chase Daniel, however, is a toolman's toolbox of tools.

Here's my line of thinking and why I think it's a good move... Willie Parker is already 28 years old and he had less than 800 yards rushing last year in 16 games, that isn't good enough for a starter.
Mewelde Moore is a servicable back, but he's more of the short-yardage specialist and saw more time last year because of Mendenhall's injury. He has a place on the Steelers, but he isn't the workhorse that can carry the team on his back, long-term.
Mendenhall was injured and still has all the potential in the world, but he is nothing more than a question mark at this point and being able to draft a possible stud starter in Jennings should only serve to assure that the Steelers have a servicable back no matter the circumstances, possibly the best 1-2-3 punch in the league after this move. This is a planning for the future move, that gets them the BPA and IMPROVES their RB stable so they don't miss a beat, long-term.
