This does not explain how our inferior pass-rushers somehow managed to be more productive than their superior OL on the same shit field.

Now, you could say it was the fact that our OL started with the 3/4-inch cleats, while their DL/OL did not. You could say it was superior coaching on the part of Coach Heck. But fundamentally, OBJ and Wylie would have to be better than average, begter than some of you are giving them credit for, or they simply would've been outclassed multiple times, particularly after they changed their cleats in the first half. And obviously, that didn't happen.

I think we already traded him for two first round picks and drafted his replacement...

Chiefs GM Brett Veach said the team is in talks to extend OL Orlando Brown.

Brown played last year under the franchise tag after the Chiefs couldn't reach a long-term deal. The sides should have a better chance of getting something done now that Brown has an agent. Brown turned down a six-year, $139 million deal with a $30 million signing bonus last offseason. Kansas City is expected to franchise Brown a second time if he's not extend before Tuesday's deadline.

It’s linked from the Star, so who knows if there’s any valid information in there or not. I’m not paying to find out.

Guessing that there is not much else Veach is going to say. We want him back, we made an offer and may have to tag him....

That feels like more than they said at/around this time last season, though.

I feel like most folks recognized that a LTC was unlikely last year. That seems more along the 'cautiously optimistic' lines.

Well, ****, at this point he didn't even have an agent.

What a cluster **** that was.

Exactly. The chatter from the team this offseason is already different from last year. Them hammering out a deal is more likely than them not IMO.

Not the Chiefs fault.

Brown did nothing to help himself by waiting too damn long to hire an agent.

RunKC 03-02-2023 01:29 PM

They’re gonna have to decide on Frank to afford the tag.

Never said it was the Chiefs fault. In fact, I didn't blame anybody because I wasn't assigning blame at all.

I was simply saying the tenor of the conversation has changed since last year. Because it has.

They have 13 days and a hundred ways to work that money out.

Veach and Tillis trying to see if they can agree on something before the deadline

I know I said back in December that Vach would find a way to sign this guy, but I'm having doubts now. I thought OBJ would consider that if he allowed himself to be traded he'd almost certainly go to a non-contender like CHI and while he'd be rich, he'd also spend the next 5-6 years losing a lot, so he might take a bit of a discount to stay on a great team.

Not so certain of it now, for various reasons. I think Veach will end up tag/trading him. But at least it opens up our cap situation a bit, so I guess there's a silver lining there.

It would be nice to get him signed before Free Agency starts so Veach knows what he has to play with.

Both sides should have a much better idea of what it will take to get a deal. It really hampers the teams ability to navigate free agency if they have to use the tag again.

I am hoping for a deal to be announced soon. That will allow Veach to know what his spending money looks like and take LT out as a draft pick, opening up the draft for us a little bit.

Orlando refers to his college as Easy Money University on his Sunday Night Football introduction. I don’t think he will compromise.
