“They are throwing a lot at us as a team, trying to see what we can handle offensively,” Cassel said. “We are trying to see what we are going to be. Are we going to be a running team? Or are we going to be a passing team? … We are still trying to find our identity."

I expect to see a short pass happy offense unless some of the backup OL can step up and run block.

How so?

I was kidding but when before Croyle was hurt the first few games of the season last year the offense didn't have an identity either. I know it was just a pre-season game but the play calling looked exactly last years suckage before they played the spread. I seem to remember thats usually how Gaileys offenses were even though they averaged in the middle of NFL offenses.

Haley said on Thursday that he expects his first team offense and defense to play through the first half, with some exceptions.

sweet

The receivers are probably confused now after Herm went into last year wanting to simplify everything so that the players could grasp it.

On both sides of the ball, we're going to see a lot more "stuff". Haley wants smart guys who can process and handle multiple things. Herm wanted young football players and wanted to give them as little as possible to handle in terms of complication...

Or until Cassel is able to make the deep throw.

It's too bad he doesn't have the arm to complete anything over 8-9 yards tops.

lol you saying Cassel doesn't have an arm?

KCUnited 08-20-2009 01:35 PM

He's got a strong enough arm, he just doesn't seem to be that accurate on the deep ball. Everything has been over or under thrown.

CaliforniaChief 08-20-2009 01:38 PM

Just watched Coach Haley's quick "presser" on kcchiefs.com...looks like the starters will play the first half. Hopefully they can get into a rhythm tomorrow.

Sweet, now if they really suck it'll be a full blown melt down, opposed to the mini melt down of last week.

Pardon me if I don't panic about this until the real football starts.

Who's panicking? The deep throw was a knock on him when he was playing real football, now its a knock on him in camp. Believe it or not the preseason is an evaluation.
