How was that not interference? He fell out into the throwing lane, made no attempt to get out of the way.

Kozma does something positive in at bat.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-04-2013 09:38 PM

Dusty is stupid (bunting with Hamilton on first, not getting the interference call) and lucky. Matheny is just stupid.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-04-2013 09:46 PM

Mike Matheny is the dumbest mother****er alive.

There isn't a single person in this thread who couldn't manage a baseball game better than Matheny and Baker.

A walk prone pitcher and a cursed team trying to protect a lead in a bandbox. What could go wrong?

Carlos. But he does scare me in this situation. I don't trust Maness in any situation that doesn't have a man on first and one out.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-04-2013 10:01 PM

That was the most important win of the year. Holy shit, what a terribly-played yet incredibly important baseball game.

Hopefully Craig is ok, didnt see the play, was it bad or just a rolled ankle?

Absolutely have to win tomorrow. 3-4 trips, especially to Pitt and Cincy don't hurt much.

Get to a half game back of Pitt with those ****s comi to Busch

O.city 09-04-2013 10:07 PM

And of course in one of the biggest games of the year, we have lance Lynn starting tomorrow.

We have a 40 man roster. Lyons and Rosenthal might be shot for tomorrow. You can use Siegrist, Mujica, Maness, Choate, Axford. Just need five and two from the worthless ****.

Not good. I'm just going to enjoy the win though, deal with it later.

O.city 09-04-2013 10:29 PM

This could be a huge win. Use this as a big boost and get rolling here to finish. We're in a great spot actually to win this division

O.city 09-04-2013 10:32 PM

@dgoold: Allen Craig is going to have to leave the team for his ankle/foot to be evaluated. Scan tonight inconclusive. #stlcards #cardinals

Not good

Rosenthal is good for one inning 9th. Siegrist for one inning 8th. Maness for 1 inning 7th. Axford for 1 inning 6th.

Just give us 5 innings before melting down.

I think the games against Pitt this weekend are bigger games. I think Pitt is the front runner. We got our best pitchers going this weekend(at least right now).

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-05-2013 05:33 PM

Lynn has the heart of Oliver McCall.

31 pitches thru 1 inning

What else could he do? Craig's likely done for the year and Molina has a bad knee and caught 16 innings yesterday. Do you want him to play Brock Peterson at first? Jay against a lefty Cingrani? Run Rob Johnson's **** ass behind the plate.

This is as good as it gets.

What's the word on Craig?

kcpasco 09-05-2013 06:07 PM

Craig has an ankle sprain and no fracture. Im guessing 2-3 weeks.

DJ's left nut 09-05-2013 06:12 PM

Like, literally combust?

That would be cool.

I'd rather just roll with wacha, miller, Martinez, Kelly and waino

He really isn't based on any scouting report.

But as has been the pattern the last 2+ seasons with him, he's just absolutely incapable of seizing an opportunity.

It's really uncanny. Every chance he gets, he throws up on his shoes.

He's probably getting his last crack at being a major leaguer over the next couple of weeks. If he doesn't get the nerves under control, he's done.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-05-2013 06:21 PM

As well it should be. Sabermetricians want to believe that pitchers and hitters are just robots that you plug and play into a formula, but some people just feel pressure more than others, and Jackson, like Lynn, looks like a talented, but gutless, choking mother****er.

It's rare that it shows up at the big league level though.

Most of the time, those nerves will weed guys out even in the bus leagues. Once your livelihood depends on the games, most of the chokers will go ahead and choke.

A guy like Jackson - who looks like a major leaguer all the way through AAA - comes along with some regularity, but it's not exactly routine.

Maybe it's even simpler than that, maybe he is a truly AAAA player and many of us are overrating his talents out of desperation. Afterall, Kozma is just the worst.

I hate his body language out there. It's embarrassing to me as a fan. I can only wonder what his teammates are thinking.

This needs to be his last start. Have him pitch out of the bullpen until he can consistently throw strikes and have a better attitude.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-05-2013 06:25 PM

Cingrani threw 11 balls to three batters and faced the minimum in that inning. That's pretty ****ing hard to do.

Here's what worries me: despite having the #1 rated farm system, what hitter other than OT is in the pipeline that could actually help this offense? Steven Piscotty? The always injured Tommy Pham?

They have put the emphasis on pitching, as they should. A lot easier to get or buy hitters than quality pitchers.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-05-2013 06:42 PM

Last night I convinced my wife that Jay Bruce's middle name was also Bruce.

Jay Bruce Bruce, not to be mistaken with the fat Afro American comic from the South.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-05-2013 06:47 PM

So, Lynn, worthless mother****er that he is, will still end up putting up around 2.5 WAR this year. I wonder what we could get from a pitching-desperate franchise like the Royals, Rockies, Phillies, Blue Jays, Orioles, Indians, or White Sox.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-05-2013 06:55 PM

Nobody makes me yearn for Ty Wigginton. Pete Kozma doesn't even make me yearn for Ty Wigginton and I'd rather play 8 on 9 if they didn't make us take an out in the 9 hole.

Well I wouldn't actually want to play 8 on 9.

...I don't think.

In either event, I meant it as hyperbole so I clearly do appreciate it. But we have to draw the line somewhere. Singing the praises of Ty Wigginton, no matter how faintly, is somewhere well beyond said line.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-05-2013 07:06 PM

Beltran made Yadi look like Eckstein with that hustle down the line. You cannot afford to slackass down the line in that situation.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-05-2013 07:30 PM

41 innings, 9 runs in this series.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-06-2013 06:50 PM

I was about ready to blow a top after Beltran went 0-2 and it looked like the Pirates were going to get out of that jam.

Still, the Pirates continue with their ridiculous batted ball luck against us. McCutcheon's bleeder and Martin's weak grounder make two more bullshit hits in two innings against us.

Jewish Rabbi 09-06-2013 06:54 PM

It was good to see McCutcheon eat his own shit after tracking down everything hit within a mile of him the rest of the year.

Beltran is streaky. Hopefully, he gets on the right kind of streak for this series. We need him on one of his hot streaks with Craig out.

He gave up 11 baserunners. Eleven. In six innings. Westbrook had the same kind of luck in the first half and where is he now? It's great that Kelly is being lucky right now, but he was really, really bad tonight.

He's the Anti-Lynn.

He makes pitches when he has to absolutely has to be made. The inside pitch to end the 6th inning. Fastball in to Alvarez in the first.

He's the most consistent starting pitcher we have had of late.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-06-2013 08:33 PM

Siegrist has said he prefers the pen to starting. With Lynn's struggles and Garcia's constant injury problems, don't you have to pencil him in as the closer next year?

Waino, Wacha, Miller, Martinez, Rosenthal
