Money and perceived lack of targets due to Hill and Kelce.

New World Order 03-23-2021 10:41 AM

That's why this is good for Hilton. He's older, he's probably not going to be playing for another big deal as he will be 33-34ish

O.city 03-23-2021 11:38 AM

According to Nate Taylor in the Athletic, the Chiefs are gonna target TY Hilton.

wiley vet with a little left in the tank, and a draftee with good measurables to coach up.

This is the way.

When/where did he say this?

In his latest article.

“ By pursuing Smith-Schuster last week, the Chiefs acknowledged two facts: They need a proven veteran to be their No. 2 receiver, and they are not expecting to re-sign Watkins, who was a hero in the 2019 championship run. The Chiefs are going to try to sign T.Y. Hilton, a 10-year veteran who recorded 56 receptions for 762 yards and five touchdowns.”

htismaqe 03-23-2021 12:13 PM

60% catch rate over the last 3 seasons.

He's had a few issues with drops over his career but the dude is a pretty solid possession receiver.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-23-2021 12:13 PM

Hilton is a slot only at this point in his career.

I’m not against it, but him signing means Hardman is going to do nothing. He can’t play the X. Shit, he can’t really play the Slot right now either. So I’m OK replacing him.

Just hate to admit he’s probably nothing more than Tyreek speed insurance now. Guess it is what it is, we need more reliable targets.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-23-2021 12:16 PM

I think you’re gonna have a really hard time prying him from Indy

The Franchise 03-23-2021 12:21 PM

Hilton may not be an X but he’s depth and adds weapons. It also allows us to draft an X and not have to rely on him week 1 as much.

staylor26 03-23-2021 12:23 PM

I don’t think they really care whether he’s an X to be honest.

They will line Hilton, Tyreek, and Hardman up many different ways if they sign him. Hilton might not be a X, but he’s not a slot only guy. He can still play outside and that’s all that really matters in terms of the fit.

Dante84 03-23-2021 12:30 PM

Still has some good hands. Not a terrible option at #2, but also certainly not WR#2 of the future. I figure it buys us a year and give a rookie some time to develop.

Umm no. It doesn’t “confirm” that.

VAGOMO 4 LIFE! 03-23-2021 12:34 PM

That's where the Chiefs come in, who already have arguably the NFL's top tight end in Travis Kelce and speedster Tyreek Hill to pair with Patrick Mahomes.
"They’re low-key looking around at some of the top guys available," Fowler said Sunday on SportsCenter. "They made an offer to Juju Smith-Schuster before he re-signed with Pittsburgh. I’m told they looked at everyone from AJ Green to Corey Davis to Curtis Samuel. All of those guys are now off the board. Maybe the next is TY Hilton. He’s one of the best players available at that position, but the Indianapolis Colts are trying to re-sign him. Maybe two AFC playoff teams can battle it out for Hilt.

Yep. Could be using KC to get the best out of Indy, but they're bringing Watkins in so maybe they'll only go so far with T.Y.

VAGOMO 4 LIFE! 03-23-2021 12:39 PM

Hilton is the only WR worth a damn that’s left. He would be a great addition to this offense. He will feast one on one

I mean they did draft Gay in the 2nd and Sneed in the 4th like I predicted in my mock, so it’s certainly plausible!

LMAO

Honestly, I think Veach was 100% sure he could cut Fish and Mitch and give Silverback their money and that’s why he decided to make that huge decision. Part of me even thinks there’s a chance the guys for KC that read CP brought my idea to Veach but I know that’s probably silly...but possible.

I’m interested to see what plan b is.

I hope a good LT falls to within striking distance and Veach goes and gets him, but whoever that is will never provide us the impact Silverbavk would have.

I’m excited to see who we select.

Would you trade #31 to the Falcons for Julio Jones?

He’s 31. His cap hit this year would be $15 million and $11 million next season.

No he doesn’t play LT.

Quite frankly, I don't think #31 is a very good value spot to pick your third option in any pattern.

Not remotely the same. Jones had missed a grand total of 3 games in the six seasons before last year.

Adding a do-everything superstar wideout like Jones to Kelce and Hill would be unfair.

I just don't understand the Long/LDT thing. Seems like you could move one of the 3 (Thuney, Long, or LDT) out to tackle rather than stack two of them at one position.

I have a hard time envisioning Long and LDT staying healthy for 16 games. That’s probably the reason.

Idk, I get the feeling they're not counting on him much. Seems like he wasn't very good at tackle, but showed the most promise at guard. However we just signed Thuney and Long at guard and LDT is coming back, so I'm not really sure there's much room.

His agent knows KC wants him (but only as a bridge player) and there isn’t a better option out there that can play right away. They are currently negotiating, but I’m sure the agent thought he could get close to 10m per on the open market and is only getting sub 5m type offers. Maybe sub 4m, even. I’m sure Veach wants to draft his replacement to upgrade the position and Reiter is trying to max out what he can get.

I’ll bet that the longer this goes, the better the chance we get Reiter for something like 2/8 and we still draft a center in the first 4 rounds.

It’s the second wave Veach talked about and he thought KC would be able to get a few deals done in this second wave.

Honestly, I don’t think making ANY offer to Juju was in his initial plan. I think his offer to him was like “well, we struck out with Silverback, so let’s make a lowball offer to Junu and see if we can get a bargain with Silverbacks money.”

Titty Meat 03-23-2021 10:27 PM

I'm not sure they're drafting a center at this point.

But I think you're right about Reiter.

This wasn't ever going to be quick, they let him go so he could explore free agency. He's still exploring free agency. When he's done, and he doesn't get what he wants, the Chiefs will be waiting with an offer.

He’s really a “center only” and isn’t a good run blocker.

His lack of versatility and limited market coupled with strong draft all drive his price down.

But these guys are pro athletes. Many of them have a hard time with the reality of their own abilities. I'm sure he's taking his time and holding out hope that somebody offers him more than what I'm sure the Chiefs have already told him he's worth.

He should probably tell his agent to strike a deal with KC for their offering price before the draft. His only other option is to wait for an injury in camp to sign with someone, but that’s a huge gamble.

If he ****s around and waits till after the draft, he will only see offers for much less because KC will draft a center that can play between 2 veteran guards.

Oh it won't take THAT long. I'm sure he knows better than that. I expected him to take a couple of weeks at least. It's only been 1.

Reiter also knows the system backwards and forewords. I think Beach obviously is looking to upgrade every spot on the OL, including center, and Reiter is getting low balled. Reiter has value, but it’s limited in this market.

Not sure. Hadn’t really been on my radar because the buzz was he was RT only.

That athletic profile changes things a bit.

So I kinda wonder if they're banking on Mahomes improving his pocket presence, which should lessen the tackle issues this year? Alot of the problems last year were him going out the back of the pocket due to interior pressure.

Jeremy Fowler writes for ESPN, thinks the Chiefs will check in on Orlando Brown and likely target TY

Trade 2 second rounders. 1 this year and next year.

Yeah, I posted it in the draft forum yesterday. All the talk I had seen about Brown was that he was an NFL RT but after his pro day, somebody is at least going to try him at LT. Don't know if he'll be successful but somebody is going to try.

At this point, Orlando Brown sounds like a solid plan. They're probably going to pay for it though. I doubt two 2nd's gets it done.

I would do 2 2nds and give him a contract and be done with it. I dunno if they will or not.

I don't think there's any way they go in to the draft with no LT and then sit at 31 and take who falls. They'll either trade up or trade for someone.

There's no way the Ravens take what amounts to two early 3rd-round picks.

Especially given recent history in the Chiefs/Ravens matchup.
