That's why this is good for Hilton. He's older, he's probably not going to be playing for another big deal as he will be 33-34ish
|
According to Nate Taylor in the Athletic, the Chiefs are gonna target TY Hilton.

This is the way. |

“ By pursuing Smith-Schuster last week, the Chiefs acknowledged two facts: They need a proven veteran to be their No. 2 receiver, and they are not expecting to re-sign Watkins, who was a hero in the 2019 championship run. The Chiefs are going to try to sign T.Y. Hilton, a 10-year veteran who recorded 56 receptions for 762 yards and five touchdowns.” |
60% catch rate over the last 3 seasons.
He's had a few issues with drops over his career but the dude is a pretty solid possession receiver. |
Hilton is a slot only at this point in his career.
I’m not against it, but him signing means Hardman is going to do nothing. He can’t play the X. Shit, he can’t really play the Slot right now either. So I’m OK replacing him. Just hate to admit he’s probably nothing more than Tyreek speed insurance now. Guess it is what it is, we need more reliable targets. |
I think you’re gonna have a really hard time prying him from Indy
|
Hilton may not be an X but he’s depth and adds weapons. It also allows us to draft an X and not have to rely on him week 1 as much.
|
I don’t think they really care whether he’s an X to be honest.
They will line Hilton, Tyreek, and Hardman up many different ways if they sign him. Hilton might not be a X, but he’s not a slot only guy. He can still play outside and that’s all that really matters in terms of the fit. |
Still has some good hands. Not a terrible option at #2, but also certainly not WR#2 of the future. I figure it buys us a year and give a rookie some time to develop.

With the Colts bringing in Watkins, the Colts basically confirm that Hilton is gone

That's where the Chiefs come in, who already have arguably the NFL's top tight end in Travis Kelce and speedster Tyreek Hill to pair with Patrick Mahomes.
"They’re low-key looking around at some of the top guys available," Fowler said Sunday on SportsCenter. "They made an offer to Juju Smith-Schuster before he re-signed with Pittsburgh. I’m told they looked at everyone from AJ Green to Corey Davis to Curtis Samuel. All of those guys are now off the board. Maybe the next is TY Hilton. He’s one of the best players available at that position, but the Indianapolis Colts are trying to re-sign him. Maybe two AFC playoff teams can battle it out for Hilt. |

Hilton is the only WR worth a damn that’s left. He would be a great addition to this offense. He will feast one on one
|
Was Boss Chief serious when he said Veach has a dude to read CP threads for ideas?

Please get Hilton! Numerous time people bowler and close to 10,000 yards receiving in his career

OMG get it done Veach! |

Would you trade #31 to the Falcons for Julio Jones?
He’s 31. His cap hit this year would be $15 million and $11 million next season. No he doesn’t play LT. |

Quite frankly, I don't think #31 is a very good value spot to pick your third option in any pattern. |
Julio Brokedick?
Did Watkins not disappoint enough? Sheesh. |
Quote:
He’s 32. I already vetoed the deal when I called Veach back. Sorry |

Not remotely the same. Jones had missed a grand total of 3 games in the six seasons before last year. Adding a do-everything superstar wideout like Jones to Kelce and Hill would be unfair. |
What does our OL look for next year? Is Thuney staying at LG or will we move him out to LT?
Thuney/Long/Draft/LDT/Niang? |

One of Thuney/Long/LDT needs to play center.

Yeah, if they get Cosmi, he’s the guy at LT and they’ll let Niang duke it out with Remmers at RT. Cosmi/vet Thuney/Wylie Reiter/Allegretti Long/LDT Niang/Remmers Would actually be a pretty exciting group. |

Guys the problem is Veach is dropping back too far in the pocket
|
Okung
Clowney Houston Williamson Poole Brown Villanueva Suh Ingram Wright Reiter Dunlap Hilton Lots of good players still without jobs that we could put to work. |

That’s why things have slowed down a lot. |

I’ll bet that the longer this goes, the better the chance we get Reiter for something like 2/8 and we still draft a center in the first 4 rounds. |
Quote:
Honestly, I don’t think making ANY offer to Juju was in his initial plan. I think his offer to him was like “well, we struck out with Silverback, so let’s make a lowball offer to Junu and see if we can get a bargain with Silverbacks money.” |
I dont care too much tbh we didnt lose much and if we get just 2 good players from the draft plus what with weve signed were a 14 win team returning alot and added 4 good players.

But I think you're right about Reiter. This wasn't ever going to be quick, they let him go so he could explore free agency. He's still exploring free agency. When he's done, and he doesn't get what he wants, the Chiefs will be waiting with an offer. |
Quote:
When one person pulls something out of thin air and posts it on Twitter, it's not a rumor. It's a fabrication. |
Quote:
His lack of versatility and limited market coupled with strong draft all drive his price down. |
Quote:
It’s a super risky move...but with a high payoff. |
Quote:
But these guys are pro athletes. Many of them have a hard time with the reality of their own abilities. I'm sure he's taking his time and holding out hope that somebody offers him more than what I'm sure the Chiefs have already told him he's worth. Again, it wasn't ever going to be a quick process. |
Quote:
If he ****s around and waits till after the draft, he will only see offers for much less because KC will draft a center that can play between 2 veteran guards. |
Quote:
|
Reiter also knows the system backwards and forewords. I think Beach obviously is looking to upgrade every spot on the OL, including center, and Reiter is getting low balled. Reiter has value, but it’s limited in this market.
|
Quote:
Not sure. Hadn’t really been on my radar because the buzz was he was RT only. That athletic profile changes things a bit. |
So I kinda wonder if they're banking on Mahomes improving his pocket presence, which should lessen the tackle issues this year? Alot of the problems last year were him going out the back of the pocket due to interior pressure.

Jeremy Fowler writes for ESPN, thinks the Chiefs will check in on Orlando Brown and likely target TY

I don't think there's any way they go in to the draft with no LT and then sit at 31 and take who falls. They'll either trade up or trade for someone. |
