Owen Schmidt!

Mecca 03-24-2008 03:57 PM

Don't encourage him he's already bad enough at drafting.

I am wondering who's going to be the first to take him.

Direckshun 03-24-2008 04:26 PM

It won't be me. Neither of my teams have his position valued too much, and I'm almost entirely sure someone's enamored enough to take him in the 4th.

The Franchise 03-24-2008 04:39 PM

The Jaguars or Packers won't be taking him.

Direckshun 03-24-2008 05:59 PM

Really? I was thinking the Jags would love him, but they're smart enough to love him in the later rounds.

Well at least this is the last full day we'll lose to crazycoffee.

Plus, Texans signed Quinn Gray to a 1-year deal. They now have 3 qbs capable of winning games in the NFL. Good pick on Johnson going to the Jags for excellent value as well.

If Coffey doesn't pick by his time limit....I'll gladly make the pick for him. I'll post on here and I'll also send a message to OTW58 and Mecca just in case I'm not here.

Direckshun 03-25-2008 08:33 AM

The Packers still hav a couple really good RBs left on the board.

Mike Hart would be my choice, although he doesn't have Steve Slaton's physical gifts. I just think the Pack's RB situation is decent to begin with, but they need to slowly start replacing the personality void and leadership void left by Favre, and Hart is one of those bigger-than-life personalities that can provide a great emotional boost to your entire backfield. Plus, of course, he's a talented runner who can get real low to the ground and has an inscrutable record of taking care of the football.

Slaton, however, is if you're looking at straight physical tools. He's bigger and unbelievably fast, can block as well as he can return kicks. Just about a complete back.

Well, I don't want to mess up the rest of your rounds and clearly you are one of the psychos that can do the full mock draft so go ahead and make the pick.....

we got a DB, OLB, and a QB, I don't know that they have to have a RB with the next pick, but that also depends who is still on your board, they need a DT and some youth on their O line, but that's just my .02 cents.

The Franchise 03-25-2008 09:43 AM

With CrazeyCoffey's (n00b of the year!) blessing....I'll make the pick for the Packers.

The Packers could go three different directions here.

They could draft a DT at this point after letting Corey Williams go to the Browns but they have a decent amount of depth and no one on the board really stands out to them.

They could draft a RB but I think that with the depth in this draft...they really don't HAVE to grab one right now. I think that Mike Hart is a little early in the 3rd round and a quality RB should be able to last until the 4th round. Plus they already drafted a RB last year in Brandon Jackson to help take some of the load off of Ryan Grant.

The one thing the Packers don't have right now is quality OT depth. You can never have enough good OTs on your roster and they'll use their 3rd round pick this year to help them in that area.

The Green Bay Packers select Oniel Cousins, OT, U.T.E.P.

Direckshun 03-25-2008 09:56 AM

Solid pick.

Truth be told, Grant is a lot better than his numbers indicate -- he was really only active after week eight. His numbers projected over a full season were 1,700 yards.

I think the 49ers just lost the fifth rounder because of tampering just my luck.

direckshun not bad to still get dre moore thirteen or so spots lower than what I would have taken him in. Major gamble but it paid off.

Yeah they switched 3rds with the Bears, too. LOL

Sucks to be you. :D

No I still think Moore would have been the better choice with your first third, but getting him with the second third was solid value at least. I'm not thrilled with the Johnson pick but at least he was solid value at that point...

Direckshun 03-25-2008 10:03 AM

There are like 10 things the Cowboys can do.

I think the best value for the Cowboys at this point would be go to with Craig Steltz at SS. Roy Williams' days are numbered and Steltz could probably afford the Cowboys to let the bastard go.

But if htis isn't nuts about signing Zach Thomas, I'd also consider the MLBs still left on the board, especially Goff, though he and Bell are a bit undersized for 3-4 ILB.

CB Trae Williams is also a good bargain at the bottom of the 3rd and the Cowboys have suddenly found themselves depleted after two of their backups have left in free agency and Henry just isn't that good.
