Of course he will go to the Chargers...It's the Chiefs way.
December 28 - Arrowhead Stadium...Chiefs down 2 less then a minute to play facing 4 and 5 at Chargers 45. Smith is forced to scramble do to lack of protection and then floats ball towards Bowe...Bowe doesn't come back to the ball...Flowers breaks up or intercepts the pass sealing the Chargers win.

Chiefs Planet goes full nuclear meltdown...fingers pointed at O-line sucking, Smith for floating a pass, Bowe not coming back for it, Dorsey for giving up picks for Smith, overpaying Bowe, all the O-line problems and of course letting Flowers go, because we would have had two or three more wins with him on the team.

It's is the Chiefs way.

Or anywhere away from the AFC West.

Obviously we can argue about player selections, but the methodology of prioritizing QB and pass rush (while reducing focus/investment on other positions like CB) is sound. Chiefs invested in pass rush with their first pick in 2014 and reduced their investment in CB with their next pick. I liked Flowers- he was the best CB on the team for years but I'm not sure why people are so upset by his release. CB simply isn't worth that kind of investment in today's NFL. If I didn't object so heavily to the Smith trade, I would have a fair measure of optimism about the direction of the team.

A one year deal? Sucks for him.

ThaVirus 06-24-2014 03:17 PM

With that said, I'd expect him to have a great year. This is his last shot at getting another 3-4 year deal,

First of all it's not remarkably low... it's a bit low. Flowers has 87 starts. For comparison's sake: Revis (an obviously superior CB) has 21 INT's in 95 starts. Champ Bailey had 21 INT's in his first 96 starts.

Flowers is a really good CB, but he's not in the same league as those guys and they're not that far ahead.

I will say this: Nobody really avoided throwing at flowers. It was futile for about a 4 year stretch, but teams continued to test him.

It's expected. Lots of times a high quality vet coming off of a bad season will sign a one year deal.

They know they can get better at the start of free agency when teams aren't as cap restricted, and he probably feels he can play better than he did last season. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I hope he does well and then gets the **** out of the AFC west. I like Flowers. I don't want to hate him.

Considering the shit we've had to sit through at cornerback the past few years, Flowers looks like Revis by comparison.

Im kinda torn on this one. He was one of my favorite current chiefs....but now he plays for the home town team so i get to see more him.

I know one thing for sure, the Chargers have a better secondary than the Chiefs now.
