Its Texas. Don't they have some of the most lax gun laws of any state.

You're reaching pretty hard.

He has been paid around $1.5 million after tax. By the end of his contract he will have $3.5 million after tax. A 6-year car note on the Lambo SUV might be around $50,000 per year.

I think we all assumed that's Rice because of that. If that's Rice in black it's a totally different thing.

Hell I'm not totally convinced that's Rice now.

They are in Texas, that's going to be a high bar to clear to make a crime.

DJ's left nut 03-31-2024 02:36 PM

Lord.

Fellas - it's stupid. In a league full of absolute ****ing sociopaths. Dudes that strangle women. Every team in the league has someone with a no-shit domestic violence change on their record.

He was racing his buddies on the highway. Hell, I've done that. Not in damn lambo but in a car that would go way too fast. And it was stupid and dangerous and that's pretty much what being young does to you. You do stupid and dangerous things.

"Well someone could've been killed" yeah well they weren't. Or evidently even badly injured. Is that lucky? Sure, maybe. But man, I feel like every single pearl clutcher in this thread has done something where, but for the grace of God or just blind dumb luck, could've gone real real real badly. It didn't. We exhale and move along.

Is he gonna get punished? Probably. But Christ alive, some of y'all wanna bury the guy under the courthouse. That's kinda strange to me for something that falls squarely under the umbrella of stupid rather than evil or malicious.

You cannot easily distinguish the two in those photos. Being so sure is impossible. The facial features of the guy in black don't really fit Rice either but they are too low-res to zoom in well enough to easily tell.

He got 2.5 mil paid to him last year plus another 300k from the playoffs. Plus he'd have any number of opportunities for loans. And leases exist.

TLO 03-31-2024 02:37 PM

Been a few hours since I checked in. I figured Rice would have turned himself in by now.

Was it stupid? Yes.

Should he be punished appropriately via the law and league rules as well? Yes.

Should the suspension be a significant and lengthy one on par with domestic violence? Absolutely ****ing not.

I mean, Jalen Carter sped away from a fiery crash in which two of his friends were burning to death and he got drafted and didn't have any disciplinary action.

But it is the NFL, and punitive measures tend to lag. Watch Rice get more of a suspension than players who have done much worse with motor vehicles.

So coming close to killing several people on the highway does not equate to beating a woman? That's up for debate, my friend.

It depends. It doesn't sound like simple possession of a firearm, but could be possession while committing some crime. If the bags they removed from the vehicle were part of some crime like drug possession/distribution, that could be a lot of trouble. I'm no expert on firearms laws whether in Texas or anywhere else, so don't take my thoughts for anything more than just 1 guys opinion.

After taxes, paying his agent, blah blah blah . . . And that’s just where that thing starts. A quick google search shows several USED versions going for nearly $400,000.

But I guess he could’ve leased one.

Yah, me too. Kind of concerned he hasn’t. Not a good look at this point. Hope to God he’s talking to anyone on the team and/or his agent. Someone that could talk him into doing the right thing.
