The 2 split starts that year...

608 Gore rushing 131 receiving
581 Barlow rushing 241 receiving

1189 rushing
372 receiving

Again...that's good enough for a quarterback that doesn't suck.

Pittsburgh is gonna be a good test for the kid. His defense should be able to hold Pittsburgh to a low point output. I can't imagine Geno needing more than 20 points to go 4-2.

RunKC 10-09-2013 11:17 PM

Geno has one good game against one of the worst defenses in the NFL and is a turnover machine (11 so far) against defenses that are worth a shit.

If we wanted that kind of production, then we should of just kept Cassel for god sakes

Pittsburgh is 0-4, and got picked apart by Matt Cassel last time out. They aren't exactly a juggernaut at this point.

You guys try at all costs to knock the kid down.

Prior to the season, NY was thought of as a team that might get a top 5 pick. Their talent level is terrible and it was widely thought of that Geno went to the worst situation he could have went into.

Even with all of that, he has his team one year out of first place sitting at 3-2, has 3 game winning drives (in only 5 games) and just won AFC player of the week.

FFS I know he is not a Chief, but its ok to say he is playing at a high level.

Dick Lebeau is gonna throw as many advanced looks as possible at the kid to try and get him to make mistakes.

They aren't the Steelers of old, but they are still a defense that has the ability to **** with rookie quarterbacks.

Its more like the Geno lovers saying the chiefs are winning with D (chiefs D ranked 10)and not Alex Smith. But on the other hand Geno is winning these games and not the 5th rank D. Can't have it both ways.

BossChief 10-09-2013 11:39 PM

I'm happy with the Chiefs offense.

Shit, I bought season tickets yesterday for the first time in my life...even though I have a long drive to KC. About 5 hours each way.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have drafted our quarterback and lived though the growing pains.

Dick LeBeau is a great DC but they've looked like a bottom 5 team so far this year. They have the 3rd or 4th worst point differential even though they've played one less game than most of the league.

More importantly, they let Matt Cassel pick them apart. That can't be a good sign. He averaged almost 10 yards/attempt and completed his final 11 passes to close out the game two weeks ago. You'd hope they'd come up with some fire after the bye though.

Because the Chiefs having the #1 scoring defense in the league by a field goal has nothing to do with KC winning games.

All we had to do was have Schwartz be our RT, and take Geno #1 or even take the worst trade down offer and get him later. Then in two years we'd had our chocolate stud.

mattschiefs 10-10-2013 07:04 AM

First post here to me I don't think this is the year to really judge Geno vs Alex.

Alex Smith is in his first year in a new system. While he is a vet and he should be held to a higher standard then Geno it still takes time for most qbs to get used to a new system. I give you Trent Green. His first year in KC wasn't anything to write home about. He would go on to lead one of the best offenses that KC has ever seen.

Geno Smith is a rookie. While I didn't think we should have drafted him at the time and still don't there's no telling what he will be yet. He wasn't right for this team. Rookies for the most part at QB with some exceptions are turnover machines. Geno has been. That's what the Chiefs had last year at QB. To go from turnover machine to turnover machine just wouldn't make sense with a team that had talent and could compete now. But Geno could still turn out to be a very good QB in the NFL. I myself think he will be a good not great starter. But that remains to be seen

The Chiefs aren't winning with D? :spock:

That 10th ranking is pretty good, for one, but that measure is by yards allowed. We're the #1 scoring D, and THAT'S what matters. We're limiting the other team to minimal points.

That's perfect enough for Alex to lead his 1-2 TD drives per game. Throw in a couple field goals and a defensive/special teams TD and THAT'S how we've been winning games. Because that's good enough to beat teams. Because we're limiting them to points. Because we've got the defense.

We're winning with defense.

There's no difference between a 30-year old overgrown baby reerun like Cassel putting up those numbers and a rookie QB who has only played 5 games.

None whatsoever.

Alex Smith is throwing 77% of his throws within 10 yards of the LOS and has a 58% completion percentage.

Think about that for a second.

BTW, Geno is only throwing 67% of his passes within 10 yards of the LOS and has 60% completion percentage.

Alex Smith is only completing 62% of his passes that are within 10 yards of the LOS.

That's terrible.

Last year, he was completing 76% of those throws.

I think the key to this game is scoring more points than the other team.

That are PAST 10 yards of the LOS.

Geno Smith had the second-best road passer rating in NFL history on Monday night. After five games, he’s also fourth-best among rookies in history (post-1960) in yards per pass attempt. And his 80.3 overall rating is the fifth-best rookie passer rating through Week 5 among active quarterbacks. We’re including Bruce Gradkowski, who only played four games and had 81 attempts in 2006 (83.8 rating). Smith has 156 attempts, the seventh most. Note for future reference when trying to gauge how well rookies are playing that average rookie years for active QBs through Week 5 is 71.5 and these quarterbacks are 37-64 in games.

While it’s only one game, no rookie quarterback has randomly played near Smith’s Monday night level in a road game and ended up being a stif

Geno has had a few good games, including 3 th quarter game winning drives. I'd love to see 1 great game out of Fisher before the season is out.

Mark Sanchez was completing 56% of his passes for 916 yards and 5 TDs in his first 5 games. YPA was only 6.8.

Geno is doing much better.

Maybe it's because one is playing the toughest position and the other is a RT. also, one is drafted at 1.1.

1 good game out of 5 and you wanna crown him? And i was wrong about Haley.

I would like to see him have a good game to but we're not even halfway through Fishers rookie season Geno supports for the most part want us to ignore the fact that Geno has been a turnover machine because he's a rookie then say see how much fisher sucks during his rookie year.

He's a LT switching to RT and a ROOKIE. Yes he was drafted 1.1 and needs to step up but Geno supporters are jumping all over him ever mistake before halfway through his rookie season. If he hasn't show any progress at the end of the year ok then you have a point but all I'm saying is that if you're going to say Geno's going to have some struggles because he's a rookie to be fair you have to give Fisher that as well. Should Fisher not progress then sure call him a bust but at 25% through his rookie year since he was held out due to concussion last week is a bit to early to bash him

Geno has played three pretty good games. To say otherwise is just dishonest.

One of the biggest reasons people pointed to when drafting Fisher/Joeckel was that they were more "Safe" bets than someone like Geno. If he was SO much safer, he should be performing at a higher level, relative to his position, than Geno Smith.

He's not.

Geno Smith plays a much higher impact position than Fisher (and will even if Fisher is moved back to the LT spot) and he has played it at a higher level. He has flashed periods of superstar ability. We haven't seen anything close to that from Fisher (though it's harder to see from an OT than a QB).

QB Vs The Falcons this year.

Brees 26-35 357 Yards 2 TD 1 Int
Bradford 32-55 352 Yards 3 TD 1 Int
Tannehill 24-35 236 Yards 2 TD 1 Int
Brady 20-31 316 Yards 2 TD 0 Int ( By far Brady best game of year)

He's a ****ing rookie, nimrod.

No, it's not too early to bash a guy who was touted as the safe pick and nfl-ready. Compare that to the guy that everybody was saying was a punk and a bust waiting to happen.

Just saying his BEST game came vs one of the worse pass D in the NFL.

Bowser 10-10-2013 10:08 AM

Considering his situation and the circus team he's playing for, Geno is playing much better at this point than I thought he would.

He's a rookie. That is irrelevant.

Fisher played some right tackle at Central Michigan. Another excuse down the drain.

That was a better pass defense than the Eagles and Cowboys. Those are 2 of the 3 WORST pass defenses in football.

About the same as the Giants, too.

Alex Smith has faced 3 of the worst pass defenses in football in the first 5 weeks.

he is still a punk.

people including myself while enjoying his play, still cant stand his attitude or his lip licking........

Alex Smith is doing what his head coach wants. Don't take risk and turn the ball over.

AFC player of the week in his fifth NFL start...nothing but excuses from you.

FFS give the kid some credit.

You said he would be out of the league in 2 years, didn't you?
