Yep, buying that car meant absolutely nothing. Sometimes, it is what it is.

ThaVirus 06-24-2014 03:42 PM

Aside from the obvious Denver signing, this is pretty much worst case scenario for us.

Shit is shit regardless if it smells like Flowers...

Don't worry; Alex will pick him apart!

Mother****erJones 06-24-2014 03:46 PM

@LRiddickESPN: A 1-year deal huh? For a 28 yr. old "Pro Bowl" corner by a team that desperately needs all the corners it can get?

DaWolf 06-24-2014 03:46 PM

Good move by him. Will likely fit that system better than this one and gets to prove himself again. Gets to play us twice and continue to terrorize the Faiders. Since it's San Diego, may he fail miserably.

It is interesting to see that there wasn't much of a market for the guy. Considering how quickly CB's got gobbled up on the free agent market and in the draft, for the guy to get one visit and only a one year contract in a cornerback needy league is interesting.

So I guess the vaunted 2008 draft has left us with only Jamaal Charles...

Why? Flowers proved last year he couldn't play in the Chiefs system. The guy cant stay healthy and is not the player he once was. Id agree if this were the 2010 - 2012 version, but its not.

There's been reports that as many as 11 teams were after him. Just because SD was the only team he visited, that doesn't mean they were the only team interested. So no, i wouldn't say there wasn't much market for him. The fact that was signed within a week and a half of his release is also a positive. Most vets that get cut when he did aren't signed until the start of camp.

1 year deals are the norm for vets around this time. We need to see what his contract is worth.

Yep. IF he shows he can stay healthy and still play at a high level, he'll get a multiyear deal after next season. If not, he might be with a new team. He might just have JAG talent left. We'll see...

Chargers have the shortest secondary in the league now. But I think it's a bit improved over last year.

He's not getting a multi year deal at age 29 no matter what he does this year. The one year deal he signed with SD is all you should need to know about Flowers. His days as a top tier CB are over and his knee may be more of an issue than first thought.

He's been a top 10 CB over the past 4 seasons and now we have to play against him twice a year. He's got extra motivation to give his all against us.

The Chargers don't run the same scheme as us and he's auditioning for that last big contract. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2011-ish Flowers this coming season. Probably not quite as good as he was in 2010 but still pretty good.

I hear ya, but if he plays well, I bet he gets something better than another 1 year deal. A 2 year deal is a multi-year deal, is it not?

10 teams or so sent out feelers, but it seems doubtful that he got any serious offers based on never setting up another visit.

I am curious to see what he got from the Chargers because last time I heard they only had about 2 mil of cap room. So it must be incentive laden...
