Putting on an ass whooping tonight.

This was awesome.

Witt Jr. with another bad ass night and Melendez with an even more badass night.
|
Hernandez with another solid outing.

Damn |
Why wouldn't you see MJ at AAA and then in '22 just rotate Salvy and MJ behind the plate and DH if he does well?
|
They need to trade 2 of Gallagher, Viloria, and Rivero to make room for Melendez at AAA. Probably will happen in the off-season when the long-term trade market is better.
Demoting one of those guys to make room for MJ would probably lower their trade value. Not what i would do, but I suspect that’s a factor. |

We have an endless supply of catchers in this org. We are hoarding them on purpose so that the powers that be cannot have them.
|
Yeah it sucks for Melendez but it's probably not much to worry about. Missing out on a month of AAA shouldn't derail him. Here's one area of player development where the Royals are actually doing really well. And that doesn't even factor that they were able to steal Luca Tresh in the draft. There are a lot of solid catchers in the system.

The depth of the position SHOULD mean they can advance Jensen based on his bat rather than his C defense. I think we’ll see them try him in a corner OF or possibly 3B (and he’ll end up at LF/1B guy). If they can fix his launch angle, he could shoot through the system. Hits the ball really really hard. If you have a sub to The Athletic, go check out Alec Lewis’s story about hitting development. I think KC is leading the pack I. How it approaches that, and it’s turning guys like Pasquatino and Michael Massey into legitimate hitting prospects. |
Rivera delivers in the first inning. That may be the worst read of a ball you'll ever see by the CF.
|
That ball turned him around
|
Lynch looks good knock on wood. Glad he's rebounded after those early starts.
|
Niiiiice recovery by Lynch
|
Well, he got out of that jam. Good going, Lynch.

Olivares with another HR...better send him down :thumb:

If Olivares keeps this up, Moore will have no choice but to send him to Omaha

Barlow is nasty. He was someone I was okay with demanding a high price for at the deadline.

Left that pitch to Jiminez up. Other than that, solid inning.

Another series win against the White Sox.

Jake Brentz closing like a boss

Taking the season series in Chicago. Nice win Royals!
|
2 out of 3, take it.
|
Lynch!
|
Olivares!
|
Who was it on here that said the White Sox ‘owned’ us a couple weeks ago?
3 out of 4 in KC last week and 2 out of 3 now. They’ll be in the playoffs and we won’t, but still needs to be said . . . . . **** the White Sux! |

What a great series for our young arms.

But we owned them for basically a decade. https://soxmachine.com/2020/09/07/wh...s-9-out-of-10/ So they were due for at least one good season against us. Now things are starting to get back to normal. My only regret is Brad Keller didn’t get to pitch in this series and stick a ‘W’ on them. That would have made it a perfect 2 weeks against the Sux. |
Olivares should have been up all ****ing year. Dumb shit Dayton should get hit with a battery.

Sometimes, guys need a chance and PT to prove themselves. We’ll see how Olivares adjusts - hopefully well - now that the league has seen him a bit. He’s not just punishing fastballs, though. He has hit some good pitches out (the one off Giolito especially - that was a pretty good changeup down and away).
I was really encouraged by Lynch’s start because he started working swing and miss into his results. You could also tell that he wasn’t happy with his execution of the slider on some of the Ks - he got swings and misses even though the slider caught too much of the zone. I like to see that. |

Worth pointing out:
The Royals got Olivares and a PTBNL for Trevor Rosenthal. The PTBNL ended up being a reliever prospect named Dylan Coleman. Who now is throwing upper 90s with a wipeout slider and looks like a potential future dominant back-end bullpen guy. I expect him to get a look soon, maybe September or maybe out of ST next year. An average or better everyday outfield and bullpen weapon would be a pretty tremendous return for a rental guy. |

If anything his big issues are (1) holding on too long rather than trading and of course (2) drafting |

No Olivares in the lineup tonight. This is really starting to piss me off in an irrational way.
|
Jesus. And it was to keep Ryan O’Hearn’s goddamn AAAA bat in the lineup?
The ****. Shades of Mozeliak having to trade guys so Matheny would stop running them out there. |
Quote:
Here’s an idea: Play Olivares against Waino and see what he can do. Isn’t that the ****ing point? But no, Moore thinks that empty-calorie 70th win is more important to competing in 22-23 than, you know, actually developing talent. |
Why no Salvy tonight?

Moore isn’t filling out the lineup card, though. But he also clearly believes they should be chasing wins. |

Matheny can't get shit canned soon enough and DM is a sack of shit for hiring him. Those 2 need to go rub one out on a bible in some other city.

Watched tonite in 7min. Played when runs scored
Only way to fly |
BW Jr. has to be the best prospect in baseball.
|
Olivares needs to play everyday, stupid ass management
|
It’s either Witt, Adley Rutschman, or Julio Rodriguez, IMO.
I wouldn’t quibble with any of them. Witt has the most defensive and baserunning value and is nearly identical with the bat. |
Well, Keller's turn to start, and immediately walks 2, gives up 1 hit, and trails 2-0. :shake: Lost track of pitches, but its close to 30, in the first.
|
I hate losing to the Cardinals and the Yankees. Going to be a suck week.
|
Nice going to tie the game! :thumb:
|
Grand slam. Bobby Witt Jr
|
Good to see Sucky Keller back and the Royals limp dick offense.
|
Bobby Witt Jr. and MJ Melendez continue to destroy minor league pitching.
|
It does not bother me to see Matheny's strategy of relying on gassed vets because he's "chasing every win" blow up in his face in front of his old crowd.
|
Brutal blown lead. Now it's tied and looking at the weather radar it's about to storm.
|
Royals bullpen and Matheny try and hand the game to the Cards.
Cards responding ‘hold my beer’ |
Yea the Royals blew the 5-1 lead, tied 5-5 in top of 9th, Royals with runners on 2nd & 3rd, 0 outs and now a rain delay.
