Can't improvise. So yeah, he's the kind of guy who will have a few more big mistakes than others because you can dial up aggressive/new shit at key moments and fluster him.

But he had 8 4th quarter comebacks this season. He can't have been out there stepping on his dick every week. He just never gets credit for the times he does well.

Imho, I think Cousins is right-in-the-middle NFL average. Like 16th overall. Carr is slightly worse overall, though he probably has a better arm, and might be better in a couple other areas. Call it 17th, maybe. But the curse thing drops him below Cousins. Dak is better than both, by a hare/hair/whatever because the DAL curse isn't a strong as the Carr curse, plus the DAL curse isn't specific to DAk, just the entire organization. And he's just slightly better overall than Cousins. So, Dak=14 or 15?

But Carr is cursed, so he's always the worst of the three. That's the cold-sober scientific analysis of the three. Well, there was at least one Scotch in there, but mostly, like 50.0000000000000000000000001% sober.

That's my list of guys I think are definitively better than Cousins.

He's in a group of another 5ish guys who, due to consistency, track record or age, just can't be said to be OBVIOUSLY better than him, IMO. Some are, some aren't, but they're all pick your poison guys at the same level as him.

Dude threw for 4900 yards not too long ago. And he's good for about 4200 yards, 30 scores, a 68% completion% and 100 passer rating pretty much like clockwork. He's been REALLY consistent over the last 6-7 years.

The roster is pretty much there. Plenty of weapons on offense. they’re just missing the elite QB to make them a legit contender.

Insert an elite QB on that team and they’re one of the best 2-3 teams in the league.

And Cousins doesn't get very high on that list. I know without looking anything up that I'd take Rodgers and Stafford (if healthy, and all other things being equal) before I even thought about taking Cousins. But that's me.

Yeah, the difference between a Mahomes/Burrow/Allen offense looking great and looking like ass is a pretty fine line in itself, much less a "bottom 29" QB... the drop off in execution and consistency doesn't even have to be that great, and your pretty-good QB's offense can look like a dumpster fire.

I'm definitely guilty of that "HoF or sucks"mentality at times, but a game like this helps, where it's been pretty damn solid. There's just sssoooo... much... bad football during the regular season and WC round, after a while it all looks like garbage if one of the top few guys isn't playing.

i can't include Russ in any conversation about good QBs at this point. I know what I've said recently about not giving recency bias too much consierdation, but this is an outlier case. Russ was terrible beyond explanation this season, and it will take an epic rebound before he climbs past the 32nd ranking in my book.

Brady is weird. Take that game early in the season when he orchestrated those two drives to win that game; he looked like prime Brady. Then the next week, nah. Look at his arm motion in those two drives; he looks like a top-tier QB throwing darts. The next game though, his arm looks slow, there's a noticeable lack of zip . . .

If he has that arm from those two drives, okay, he's better than Cousins. Without it, maybe not.

They are much closer to the Trent Green Chiefs with that defense.
