Any other GM except Veach and I might be worried.

I’ll never forget how this dude built an OL in one offseason. He won’t take any chances with Mahomes.

I do appreciate that he apparently is evaluating guys on the totality of their time here and not overreacting to the postseason when making decisions. Assuming this means that OBJ is gone.

Agreed, they would have been planning for such a contingency a long time ago.

Totally different scenario, the Chiefs were a SB team without a LT. That doesn't happen very often.

Sounds like it will be happening here in the next few days.

They still have a week to work on a deal. It's not like it has to be done today.

It's either extreme that Veach is in love with a LT in the draft and telling OBJ to kickoff or a a longterm deal will be done this offseason.

O.city 03-06-2023 01:47 PM

Maybe they like a young guy they already have on the roster?

Not shocked. Heard he and his agent are dead set on resetting the market and welp we didn't even do that for Tyreek.

Is there ANY possibility that the Chiefs think they have a week 1 starter at LT on the roster right now?

As dumb as that question sounds, this one might be more dumb - Is there ANY possibility we trade our first for Laremy Tunsil (or another great LT on a bad team)?

One of two things are going on.

1. They're close on a deal and the franchise tag isn't needed.

OR

2. Veach gave them a number that they don't like. He won't play on the tag and Veach is going to let him see what he can get on the market.

So put the transition tag on him.

This takes a tag/trade off the table (which is what I figure they'd do if he says he won't play on the tag).

This one surprises me quite a bit. Maybe it's just as simple as Veach's bluff getting called. The team doesn't think he's worth $20 million, they used it as a pressure point in trying to get a LTC inked, it didn't work so they are walking away.

Damn that's risky.

Considering Houston is probably taking Bryce Young I doubt they're interested in having a bad OL.

Holy Mother of God and smiling baby Jesus, I can't believe I'm asking this, but here goes:

Well, let's say OBj is gone, where does that leave Wylie?

Yep. They turned down a mint last offseason, why wouldn't they do the same this season after another pro bowl selection and championship?

It's time to draft our LT of the future. And then spend that money on something fun, like an OBJ (WR) or a Dhop.

I can't imagine they're gonna just walk away without any kind of compensation, right?

I mean, I guess you'll have a 3rd round comp pick next year, but damn.

I seriously doubt he's back, he's gonna get paid.
