Yes, that was one of several shitty reads by the qb.

Pre snap and post snap, Alex didn't even look his way. There was no pressure on the play.

OMG. I'm going to be sick.

That was the play that Collinsworth lambasted Alex for not making an effort to get the ball to Jamaal, saying something to the effect of, "when you have a RB on a LB - a total mismatch - the ball HAS to go there. That's a huge mistake."

And that's far from the first time he's ignored that mismatch this season.

I remember it from the game. I don't remember them ever showing what route Jamaal ran and it was impossible to see on the broadcast. I had just assumed he ran a shirt route and didn't get open or something..

No, he beat the LB after 5 yards and they only had one safety over top (who knows what side of the field he rolled to). That was 30 yards at least..

You probably shouldn't watch the All-22 view of our games then.

It shows how many wide open guys he never sees, or is too chickenshit to throw to. It's an eye-opener, and should be required viewing for those that believe our WR's can't get separation.

Is Nick Foles the best QB in football?

Yeah, but you can't say Smith is below average AND claim that you can't compare him to crappy qb's.

You've thrown out Flacco and Ryan -- how many active qb's are better than Smith? If he's truly below average then that number has to be 20+.

It actually is.

Must be. I mean, it can't be that defenses don't have video of him and will figure him out after 4-6 weeks. (kind of like Kaepernak) (kind of like any backup) (kind of like our pass rush, sad to say)

Really? Of the currently starting qb's? I think you are viewing the league through crap-colored glasses.

He's 20+ in just about every statistical category. What else should I think?

saphojunkie 11-18-2013 07:07 PM

Is anyone else willing to jeopardize this entire magical season just to see what Tyler Bray could do?

That you love stats?

Hey, could you post that list? I think that would be helpful to this conversation.

Why not? It would be helpful to see that list.

Stats do matter, but they never tell the whole story in football. They do in baseball, but not football. The best statistical game by a Chiefs QB came in a loss. There are several QBs putting up great numbers, but they're costing their team games. That doesn't come across with stats, you just see the yards an TDs and say, he's great. I've seen many QBs this season that look like they belong ahead of Smith that are killing their teams.
