I'd love to continue this debate but I will, instead, opt for sleep. I will end by saying that unlike others on this thread, I support my fellow Americans in the auto making industry and will not, in good conscience, be responsible for putting them out of work. They have always given me a good product.

USA! USA! USA! USA!

I buy American housing.:D

Mexicans own more property in USA than Japs, so why do they get such a bad rap? Do I really care if some rich asshole that owns a building in NY is a Jap-nope.

Back to my original statement: Your and idiot! I am in the automotive and medical manufacturing business and we have not lost battle. We are doing very well thank you. We will only lose the car war if these naieve (sp) kids keep believing the Nissan salesman.

You may not care about who owns what, but your decendents will. I might suggest reading some future economic forcasts by Jeremy Seigal.

And they buy your products, funny how that works. Good Night and Good Luck. me to.

PAY ATTENTION SON!

So you have one car that managed to make it against the odds, that is your basis for saying US cars are better? Like I said-I see 50 to 80 examples a day that will say different. Do you think it is just coincidence that Carmax-the biggest car retailer in the country-does not usually keep Domestic cars over 6 years or 60K in miles. If they do its called a "Valuemax" car-means it is discounted, because it is a short term asset.

As far as the Auto industry, if they were making a better product-our fellow americans would not be getting laid off after years of faithful service-it is a travesty.

HMMM, Funny. The japanese work in U.S. plants. The japanese plants are now in America. I'll bet you think you can't order pork medium rare either. Kinda the same mentality. From now on, get your advise from Iowanian. He too thinks the same thing. Get EDUCATED!

Autos and medicine-one stop shopping-you would have to be on drugs to buy a Ford-lol. Show me the evidence that shows over, say the last ten years, average depreciation on cars is better with an American car?? Just because I know the facts about the value of cars-does not mean I don't love or appreciate my country-that is just stupid. I have lots of friends on the assembly line-but would not sacrifice my own families future and saftey in a poorly built car-just so they can get some overtime. Within ten years from now, they will be out of business. Those jobs are not coming back.

They both have electronics in common, medical is not just about drugs. Next time you are in a medical facility, take a look around.

Your repeated argument, Resale value is driven by demand, it does not reflect quality. Last time I checked Warrantly claims per 100 Japenese cars is in the 15% range, 16 for Chrysler, 17 for Ford and GM. Pretty close, have you heard of QS9000 and TS-16949? They are the absolutely brutal quality standards all of these companys run on.
Here is a link if you are interested:http://www.nsai.ie/Certification_Ser...S/QS_9000.html

I've found some nice used around - Sound a Equinox, Trailblazer, Grand Vitara, but I'm going to check around with my dad because he's worked as an adjuster for over 15 years and knows dealerships in and out around here.

Vlad,

It would be nice to get a Lexus, but I think I would own it for about 5 minutes after my fiance officially claimed it as hers because their SUV is her dream car.

Well, I think I've narrowed my choice down to a Mercury Mountaineer.

Anyone have an opinion on these?
